Transfinite diameter and the resultant

We prove a formula for the Fekete-Leja transfinite diameter of the pullback of a set E in C^N by a regular polynomial map F, expressing it in terms of the resultant of the leading part of F and the transfinite diameter of E. We also establish the nonarchimedean analogue of this formula. A key step in the proof is a formula for the transfinite diameter of the filled Julia set of F.

Relations between Transfinite Diameters on Affine Algebraic Varieties

Given a compact set $K$ one may define a transfinite diameter for $K$ via a limiting process involving maximising a Vandermonde determinant over $K$ with respect to a monomial basis. Different transfinite diameters may be obtained by using different polynomial bases in the Vandermonde determinant calculation. We show that if these bases are sufficiently similar that the transfinite diameter of $K$ is unchanged. Utilising this result we show that the transfinite diameters defined by Cox-Ma`u and Berman-Boucksom for algebraic varieties are equal.

Okounkov bodies and transfinite diameter

We present an explicit calculation of an Okounkov body associated to an algebraic variety. This is used to derive a formula for transfinite diameter on the variety. We relate this formula to a recent result of D. Witt Nystrom.

Transfinite diameter notions in C^N and integrals of Vandermonde determinants

We provide a general framework and indicate relations between the notions of transfinite diameter, homogeneous transfinite diameter, and weighted transfinite diameter for sets in C^N. An ingredient is a formula of Rumely which relates the Robin function and the transfinite diameter of a compact set. We also prove limiting formulas for integrals of generalized Vandermonde determinants with varying weights for a general class of compact sets and measures in C^N. Our results extend to certain weights and measures defined on cones in R^N.

Transfinite diameter on complex algebraic varieties

We use methods from computational algebraic geometry to study Chebyshev constants and the transfinite diameter of a pure $m$-dimensional affine algebraic variety in $\mathbb{C}^n$ ($m\leq n$). The main result is a generalization of Zaharjuta's integral formula for the Fekete-Leja transfinite diameter.

Pade interpolation by F-polynomials and transfinite diameter

We define $F$-polynomials as linear combinations of dilations by some frequencies of an entire function $F$. In this paper we use Pade interpolation of holomorphic functions in the unit disk by $F$-polynomials to obtain explicitly approximating $F$-polynomials with sharp estimates on their coefficients. We show that when frequencies lie in a compact set $K\subset\mathbb C$ then optimal choices for the frequencies of interpolating polynomials are similar to Fekete points.
