Approximation by polynomials in a weighted space of infinitely differentiable functions

The density of polynomials in a weighted space of infinitely differentiable functions in a multidimensional real space is proved under minimal conditions on weight functions and on differences between weight functions. We apply this result for description of strong dual for weighted spaces of infinitely differentiable functions on real line and weighted spaces of sequences of infinitely differentiable functions on real line in terms of the Fourier-Laplace transform of functionals.

Order estimates of best orthogonal trigonometric approximations of classes of infinitely differentiable functions

In this paper we establish exact order estimates for the best uniform orthogonal trigonometric approximations of the classes of $2π$-periodic functions, whose $(ψ,β)$-derivatives belong to unit balls of spaces $L_{p}$, $1\leq p<\infty$, in the case, when the sequence $ψ(k)$ tends to zero faster, than any power function, but slower than geometric progression. Similar estimates are also established in the $L_{s}$-metric, $1<s\leq\infty$ for the classes of differentiable functions, which $(ψ,β)$-derivatives belong to unit ball of space $L_{1}$.

Order estimations of the best approximations and approximations of the Fourier sums on the classes of infinitely differentiable functions

We obtained order estimations for the best uniform approximations by trigonometric polynomials and approximations by Fourier sums of classes of $2π$-periodic continuous functions, which $(ψ,β)$-derivatives $f_β^ψ$ belong to unit balls of spaces $L_{p}, 1\leq p<\infty$ in case at consequences $ψ(k)$ decrease to nought faster than any power function. We also established the analogical estimations in $L_{s}$-metric, $1<s\leq\infty$, for classes of the summable $(ψ,β)$-differentiable functions, such that $\parallel f_β^ψ\parallel_{1}\leq1$.

Asymptotic behavior of best approximations of classes of infinitely differentiable functions defined by moduli of continuity

We obtain asymptotic estimates for the best approximations by trigonometric polynomials in the metric space $C$ $(L_p)$ of classes of periodic functions that can be represented as a convolution of kernels $Ψ_β$, which Fourier coefficients tend to zero faster than any power sequence, with functions $φ\in C (φ\in L_p),$ which moduli of continuity do not exceed a fixed majorant $ω(t)$. It is proved that in the spaces $C$ and $L_1$ the obtained estimates are asymptotically exact for convex moduli of continuity $ω(t)$.

Malgrange division by quasianalytic functions

Quasianalytic classes are classes of infinitely differentiable functions that satisfy the analytic continuation property enjoyed by analytic functions. Two general examples are quasianalytic Denjoy-Carleman classes (of origin in the analysis of linear partial differential equations) and the class of infinitely differentiable functions that are definable in a polynomially bounded o-minimal structure (of origin in model theory). We prove a generalization to quasianalytic functions of Malgrange's celebrated theorem on the division of infinitely differentiable by real-analytic functions.

Estimations of the best approximations of classes of infinitely differentiable functions in uniform and integral metrics

We find uniform with respect to parameter $p \ (1\leq p\leq\infty)$ upper estimations of best approximations by trigonometric polynomials of classes $C^ψ_{β,p}$ of periodic functions generated by sequences $ψ(k)$, that decrease to nought faster than any power function. Obtained estimations are exact for order and have constants that are written in explicit form and depend on function $ψ$ only. We obtain analogical estimations for best approximations of classes $L^ψ_{β,1}$ in metrics of spaces $L_{s}$, $1\leq s\leq \infty$.

Biorthonormal Systems in Freud-type Weighted Spaces with Infinitely Many Zeros - An Interpolation Problem

In a Freud-type weighted ($w$) space, introducing another weight ($v$) with infinitely many roots, we give a complete and minimal system with respect to $vw$, by deleting infinitely many elements from the original orthonormal system with respect to $w$. The construction of the conjugate system implies an interpolation problem at infinitely many nodes. Besides the existence, we give some convergence properties of the solution.

Jackson-Stechkin type inequalities for differentiable functions in weighted Orlicz spaces

In the present work some Jackson Stechkin type direct theorems of trigonometric approximation are proved in Orlicz spaces with weights satisfying some Muckenhoupt's $A_{p}$ condition. To obtain refined version of the Jackson type inequality we prove an extrapolation theorem, Marcinkiewicz multiplier theorem and Littlewood Paley type results. As a consequence refined inverse Marchaud type inequalities are obtained. By means of a realization result we find an equivalence between the fractional order weighted modulus of smoothness and the classical weighted Peetre's K-functional.

A breakdown of injectivity for weighted ray transforms in multidimensions

We consider weighted ray-transforms $P\_W$ (weighted Radon transforms along straight lines) in $\mathbb{R}^d, \, d\geq 2,$ with strictly positive weights $W$. We construct an example of such a transform with non-trivial kernel in the space of infinitely smooth compactly supported functions on $\mathbb{R}^d$. In addition, the constructed weight $W$ is rotation-invariant continuous and is infinitely smooth almost everywhere on $\mathbb{R}^d \times \mathbb{S}^{d-1}$. A smooth, complex generalization of the Hobby-Rice theorem

The Hobby-Rice Theorem states that, given $n$ functions $f_j$ on ${\mathbb{R}}^N$, there exists a multiplier $h$ such that the integrals of $f_jh$ are all simultaneously zero. This multiplier takes values~$\pm1$ and is discontinuous. We show how to find a multiplier $h=e^{ig}$ that is infinitely differentiable, takes values on the unit circle, and is such that the integrals of $f_jh$ are all zero. We also show the existence of $n$ infinitely differentiable, real functions $g_j$ such that the $n$ functions $f_j e^{ig_j}$ are pairwise orthogonal.

Sharp weighted bounds for fractional integral operators in a space of homogeneous type

We consider a version of M. Riesz fractional integral operator on a space of homogeneous type and show an analogue of the well-known Hardy--Littlewood--Sobolev theorem in this context. In our main result, we investigate the dependence of the operator norm on weighted spaces on the weight constant, and find the relationship between these two quantities. It it shown that the estimate obtained is sharp in any given space of homogeneous type with infinitely many points. Our result generalizes the recent Euclidean result by Lacey, Moen, P{é}rez and Torres.
