A functional equation for the Lefschetz zeta functions of infinite cyclic coverings with an application to knot theory

The Weil conjecture is a delightful theorem for algebraic varieties on finite fields and an important model for dynamical zeta functions. In this paper, we prove a functional equation of Lefschetz zeta functions for infinite cyclic coverings which is analogous to the Weil conjecture. Applying this functional equation to knot theory, we obtain a new view point on the reciprocity of the Alexander polynomial of a knot.

Lefschetz fibrations on knot surgery $4$-manifolds via Stallings twist

In this article we construct a family of knot surgery $4$-manifolds admitting arbitrarily many nonisomorphic Lefschetz fibration structures with the same genus fiber. We obtain such families by performing knot surgery on an elliptic surface $E(2)$ using connected sums of fibered knots obtained by Stallings twist from a slice knot $3_1 \sharp 3^*_1$. By comparing their monodromy groups induced from the corresponding monodromy factorizations, we show that they admit mutually nonisomorphic Lefschetz fibration structures.

Lefschetz fibration structures on knot surgery 4-manifolds

In this article we study Lefschetz fibration structures on knot surgery 4-manifolds obtained from an elliptic surface E(2) using Kanenobu knots $K$. As a result, we get an infinite family of simply connected mutually diffeomorphic 4-manifolds coming from a pair of inequivalent Kanenobu knots. We also obtain an infinite family of simply connected symplectic 4-manifolds, each of which admits more than one inequivalent Lefschetz fibration structures of the same generic fiber.

Constructing a broken Lefschetz fibration of S^4 with a spun or twist-spun torus knot fiber

Much work has been done on the existence and uniqueness of broken Lefschetz fibrations such as those by Auroux et al., Gay and Kirby, Lekili, Akbulut and Karakurt, Baykur, and Williams, but there has been a lack of explicit examples. A theorem of Gay and Kirby suggests the existence of a broken Lefschetz fibration of S^4 over S^2 with a 2-knot fiber. In the case of a spun or twist-spun torus knot, we present a procedure to construct such fibrations explicitly. The fibrations constructed have no cusps nor Lefschetz singularities.

Twisted Gromov and Lefschetz invariants associated with bundles

Given a closed symplectic 4-manifold $(X,ω)$, we define a twisted version of the Gromov-Taubes invariants for $(X,ω)$, where the twisting coefficients are induced by the choice of a surface bundle over $X$. Ihara zeta function and twisted Alexander invariants

Lin and Wang defined a model of random walks on knot diagrams and interprete the Alexnader polynomials and the colored Jones polynomials as Ihara zeta functions, i.e. zeta functions defined by counting cycles on the knot diagram. Using this explanation, they gave a more conceptual proof for the Melvin-Morton conjecture. In this paper, we give an analogous zeta function expression for the twisted Alexander invariants.

On the monopole Lefschetz number of finite order diffeomorphisms

Let $K$ be a knot in an integral homology 3-sphere $Y$, and $Σ$ the corresponding $n$-fold cyclic branched cover. Assuming that $Σ$ is a rational homology sphere (which is always the case when $n$ is a prime power), we give a formula for the Lefschetz number of the action that the covering translation induces on the reduced monopole homology of $Σ$. Random Walk on Knot Diagrams, Colored Jones Polynomial and Ihara-Selberg Zeta Function

A model of random walk on knot diagrams is used to study the Alexander polynomial and the colored Jones polynomial of knots. In this context, the inverse of the Alexander polynomial of a knot plays the role of an Ihara-Selberg zeta function of a directed weighted graph, counting with weights cycles of random walk on a 1-string link whose closure is the knot in question. Determinations of rational Dedekind-zeta invariants of hyperbolic manifolds and Feynman knots and links

We identify 998 closed hyperbolic 3-manifolds whose volumes are rationally related to Dedekind zeta values, with coprime integers $a$ and $b$ giving $a/b vol(M)=(-D)^{3/2}/(2π)^{2n-4} (ζ_K(2))/(2ζ(2))$ for a manifold M whose invariant trace field $K$ has a single complex place, discriminant $D$, degree $n$, and Dedekind zeta value $ζ_K(2)$. The growth rate of Floer homology and symplectic zeta function

The main theme of this paper is to study for a symplectomorphism of a compact surface, the asymptotic invariant which is defined to be the growth rate of the sequence of the total dimensions of symplectic Floer homologies of the iterates of the symplectomorphism. An invariant of finite group actions on shifts of finite type

We describe a pair of invariants for actions of finite groups on shifts of finite type, the left-reduced and right-reduced shifts. The left-reduced shift was first constructed by U. Fiebig, who showed that its zeta function is an invariant, and in fact equal to the zeta function of the quotient dynamical system. We also give conditions for expansivity of the quotient, and applications to combinatorial group theory, knot theory and topological quantum field theory.

An invariant of fiberwise Morse functions on surface bundle over $S^1$ by counting graphs

We apply Lescop's construction of $\mathbb{Z}$-equivariant perturbative invariant of knots and 3-manifolds to the explicit equivariant propagator of "AL-paths" given in arXiv:1403.8030.
