Iterated Shimura integrals

In this paper I continue the study of iterated integrals of modular forms and noncommutative modular symbols for $Γ\subset SL(2,\bold{Z})$ started in [Ma3]. Main new results involve a description of the iterated Shimura cohomology and the image of the iterated Shimura cocycle class inside it. The concluding section of the paper contains a concise review of the classical modular symbols for SL(2) and a discussion of open problems.

Non-commutative Two Dimensional Modular Symbol

We define iteration over a two dimensional manifold as analog of iteration over a path defined by Chen. We give several applications. Some of them include constructions of non-abelian modular symbol for $SL(3,\Z)$ and for $SL_{2/K}$, where $K$ is a real quadratic field. We construct the latter as generating series of iterated integrals over a two-dimensional manifold of Hilbert modular forms. We give a motivic interpretation of this non-abelian modular symbol. Other applications give motivic interpretations of certain iterated completed Dedekind zeta functions.

Noncommutative modular symbols and Eisenstein series

We form real-analytic Eisenstein series twisted by Manin's noncommutative modular symbols. After developing their basic properties, these series are shown to have meromorphic continuations to the entire complex plane and satisfy functional equations in some cases. This theory neatly contains and generalizes earlier work in the literature on the properties of Eisenstein series twisted by classical modular symbols.

Non-commutative Hilbert modular symbols

The main goal of this paper is to construct non-commutative Hilbert modular symbols. However, we also construct commutative Hilbert modular symbols. Both the commutative and the non-commutative Hilbert modular symbols are generalizations of Manin's classical and non-commutative modular symbols. We prove that many cases of (non-)commutative Hilbert modular symbols are periods in the sense on Kontsevich-Zagier. Hecke operators act naturally on them. Modular forms of real weights and generalized Dedekind symbols

In a previous paper, I have defined non--commutative generalized Dedekind symbols for classical $PSL(2,Z)$--cusp forms using iterated period polynomials. Here I generalize this construction to forms of real weights using their iterated period functions introduced and studied in a recent article by R.~Bruggeman and Y.~Choie.

A symbolic approach to the poly-Bernoulli numbers

We present a symbolic representation for the poly-Bernoulli numbers. This allows us to prove several new iterated integral representations for the poly-Bernoulli numbers, including an integral transform of the Bernoulli-Barnes numbers. We also deduce some new recurrences for the poly-Bernoulli numbers. Finally, we use these results to present a new iterated integral representation for the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function, including a nonlinear integral transform of the Barnes zeta function.

Non-commutative generalized Dedekind symbols

We define and study generalized Dedekind symbols with values in non--necessarily commutative groups, generalizing constructions of Sh. Fukuhara in [Fu1], [Fu2]. Basic examples of such symbols are obtained by replacing period integrals of modular forms (cf. [Ma1], [Ma2], [Kn1], [Kn2], [ChZ]) by iterated period integrals introduced and studied in [Ma3], [Ma4].
