Mahler Measure, Eisenstein Series and Dimers

This note reveals a mysterious link between the partition function of certain dimer models on 2-dimensional tori and the $L$-function of their spectral curves. It also relates the partition function in certain families of dimer models to Eisenstein series.

Rigid Calabi-Yau threefolds, Picard Eisenstein series and instantons

Type IIA string theory compactified on a rigid Calabi-Yau threefold gives rise to a classical moduli space that carries an isometric action of U(2,1). Various quantum corrections break this continuous isometry to a discrete subgroup. Focussing on the case where the intermediate Jacobian of the Calabi-Yau admits complex multiplication by the ring of quadratic imaginary integers O_d, we argue that the remaining quantum duality group is an arithmetic Picard modular group PU(2,1;O_d). Mesure de Mahler d'hypersurfaces K3

We express the logarithmic Mahler measure of two families of polynomials defining K3 hypersurfaces of generic Picard number 19 in terms of Eisenstein-Kronecker series. For some singular K3 surfaces (i.e of Picard number 20) we write this measure as Hecke L-series of weight 3 with "Gr\" ossencharacters".

Mahler Measure of 3D Landau-Ginzburg Potentials

We express the Mahler measures of $23$ families of Laurent polynomials in terms of Eisenstein-Kronecker series. These Laurent polynomials arise as Landau-Ginzburg potentials on Fano $3$-folds, $16$ of which define $K3$ hypersurfaces of generic Picard rank $19$, and the rest are of generic Picard rank $< 19$. We relate the Mahler measure at each rational singular moduli to the value at $3$ of the $L$-function of some weight-$3$ newform. Moreover, we find $10$ exotic relations among the Mahler measures of these families.

Small representations, string instantons, and Fourier modes of Eisenstein series (with an appendix by D. Ciubotaru and P. Trapa)

This paper concerns some novel features of maximal parabolic Eisenstein series at certain special values of their analytic parameter s. These series arise as coefficients in the R4 and D4R4 interactions in the low energy expansion of scattering amplitudes in maximally supersymmetric string theory reduced to D=10-d dimensions on a torus T^d, d<8. For each d these amplitudes are automorphic functions on the rank d+1 symmetry group E_d+1. Fourier expansions of Kac-Moody Eisenstein series and degenerate Whittaker vectors

Motivated by string theory scattering amplitudes that are invariant under a discrete U-duality, we study Fourier coefficients of Eisenstein series on Kac-Moody groups. In particular, we analyse the Eisenstein series on $E_9(R)$, $E_{10}(R)$ and $E_{11}(R)$ corresponding to certain degenerate principal series at the values s=3/2 and s=5/2 that were studied in 1204.3043. Understanding the implications of SL(2,Z) S-duality for the hypermultiplet moduli space of type II string theories has led to much progress recently in uncovering D-instanton contributions.
