We study a spin system on a large box with both Ising interaction and Sherrington-Kirpatrick couplings, in the presence of an external field. Our results are: (i) existence of the pressure in the limit of an infinite box. When both Ising and Sherrington-Kirpatrick temperatures are high enough, we prove that: (ii) the value of the pressure is given by a suitable replica symmetric solution, and (iii) the fluctuations of the pressure are of order of the inverse of the square of the volume with a normal distribution in the limit. In this regime, the pressure can be expressed in terms of random field Ising models.
We propose an iterative construction of solutions of the Thouless-Anderson-Palmer-equations for the Sherrington-Kirpatrick model. The iterative scheme is proved to converge exactly up to the de Almayda-Thouless-line. No results on the SK-model itself are derived.
This work proves an upper bound for the free energy of the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick model and its generalizations in terms of the Thouless-Anderson-Palmer (TAP) energy. The result applies to models with spherical or Ising spins and any mixed $p$-spin Hamiltonian with external field or with a non-linear spike term. The bound is expected to be tight to leading order at high temperature, and is non-trivial in the presence of an external field. For the proof a geometric microcanonical method is employed, in which one covers the spin space with sets, each of which is centered at a magnetization vect…
The Sherrington--Kirkpatrick model of spin glasses, the Hopfield model of neural networks and the Ising spin glass are all models of binary data belonging to the one-parameter exponential family with quadratic sufficient statistic. Under bare minimal conditions, we establish the $\sqrt{N}$-consistency of the maximum pseudolikelihood estimate of the natural parameter in this family, even at critical temperatures. Since very little is known about the low and critical temperature regimes of these extremely difficult models, the proof requires several new ideas. The author's version of Stein's met…
In this paper we study the Parisi variational problem for mixed $p$-spin glasses with Ising spins. Our starting point is a characterization of Parisi measures whose origin lies in the first order optimality conditions for the Parisi functional, which is known to be strictly convex. Using this characterization, we study the phase diagram in the temperature-external field plane. We begin by deriving self-consistency conditions for Parisi measures that generalize those of de Almeida and Thouless to all levels of Replica Symmetry Breaking (RSB) and all models. As a consequence, we conjecture that …
