We define tensor product decompositions of $E_0$-semigroups with a structure analogous to a classical theorem of Beurling. Such decompositions can be characterized by adaptedness and exactness of unitary cocycles. For CCR-flows we show that such cocycles are convergent.

Decomposition of operator semigroups on W*-algebras

We consider semigroups of operators on a W$^*$-algebra and prove, under appropriate assumptions, the existence of a Jacobs-DeLeeuw-Glicksberg type decomposition. This decomposition splits the algebra into a "stable" and "reversible" part with respect to the semigroup and yields, among others, a structural approach to the Perron-Frobenius spectral theory for completely positive operators on W$^*$-algebras.

Doubly commuting invariant subspaces for representations of product systems of $C^*$-correspondences

We obtain a Shimorin-Wold-type decomposition for a doubly commuting covariant representation of a product system of $C^*$-correspondences. This extends a recent Wold-type decomposition by Jeu and Pinto for a $q$-doubly commuting isometries. Application to the wandering subspaces of doubly commuting induced representations is explored, and a version of Mandrekar's Beurling type theorem is obtained to study doubly commuting invariant subspaces using Fock space approach due to Popescu.

Aligned CP-semigroups

A CP-semigroup is aligned if its set of trivially maximal subordinates is totally ordered by subordination. We prove that aligned spatial E_0-semigroups are prime: they have no non-trivial tensor product decompositions up to cocycle conjugacy. As a consequence, we establish the existence of uncountably many non-cocycle conjugate E_0-semigroups of type II_0 which are prime.

Applications of the Wold decomposition to the study of row contractions associated with directed graphs

Based on a Wold decomposition for families of partial isometries and projections of Cuntz-Krieger-Toeplitz-type, we extend several fundamental theorems from the case of single vertex graphs to the general case of countable directed graphs with no sinks. We prove a Szego-type factorization theorem for CKT families, which leads to information on the structure of the unit ball in free semigroupoid algebras, and show that joint similarity implies joint unitary equivalence for such families. Natural generalized inverse and core of an element in semigroups, rings and Banach and Operator Algebras

Using the recent notion of inverse along an element in a semigroup, and the natural partial order on idempotents, we study bicommuting generalized inverses and define a new inverse called natural inverse, that generalizes the Drazin inverse in a semigroup, but also the Koliha-Drazin inverse in a ring. In this setting we get a core decomposition similar to the nilpotent, Kato or Mbekhta decompositions. In Banach and Operator algebras, we show that the study of the spectrum is not sufficient, and use ideas from local spectral theory to study this new inverse.

C*-Crossed Products by Twisted Inverse Semigroup Actions

The notions of Busby-Smith and Green type twisted actions are extended to discrete unital inverse semigroups. The connection between the two types, and the connection with twisted partial actions, are investigated. Decomposition theorems for the twisted crossed products are given.
