We obtain a version of Noether's invariance theorem for optimal control problems with a finite number of cost functionals. The result is obtained by formulating E. Noether's result to optimal control problems subject to isoperimetric constraints, and then using the unimprovable (Pareto) notion of optimality. A result of this kind was posed to the author, as a mathematical open question, of great interest in applications of control engineering, by A. Gugushvili.

Fractional conservation laws in optimal control theory

Using the recent formulation of Noether's theorem for the problems of the calculus of variations with fractional derivatives, the Lagrange multiplier technique, and the fractional Euler-Lagrange equations, we prove a Noether-like theorem to the more general context of the fractional optimal control. Automatic Computation of Conservation Laws in the Calculus of Variations and Optimal Control

We present analytic computational tools that permit us to identify, in an automatic way, conservation laws in optimal control. The central result we use is the famous Noether's theorem, a classical theory developed by Emmy Noether in 1918, in the context of the calculus of variations and mathematical physics, and which was extended recently to the more general context of optimal control. Nonconservative Noether's Theorem in Optimal Control

We extend Noether's theorem to dynamical optimal control systems being under the action of nonconservative forces. A systematic way of calculating conservation laws for nonconservative optimal control problems is given. As a corollary, the conserved quantities previously obtained in the literature for nonconservative problems of mechanics and the calculus of variations are derived.

A Formulation of Noether's Theorem for Fractional Problems of the Calculus of Variations

Fractional (or non-integer) differentiation is an important concept both from theoretical and applicational points of view. The study of problems of the calculus of variations with fractional derivatives is a rather recent subject, the main result being the fractional necessary optimality condition of Euler-Lagrange obtained in 2002. Here we use the notion of Euler-Lagrange fractional extremal to prove a Noether-type theorem. For that we propose a generalization of the classical concept of conservation law, introducing an appropriate fractional operator.

A Proper Extension of Noether's Symmetry Theorem for Nonsmooth Extremals of the Calculus of Variations

For nonsmooth Euler-Lagrange extremals, Noether's conservation laws cease to be valid. We show that Emmy Noether's theorem of the calculus of variations is still valid in the wider class of Lipschitz functions, as long as one restrict the Euler-Lagrange extremals to those which satisfy the DuBois-Reymond necessary condition. Noether's Theorem in the Stochastic Calculus of Variations

We begin by presenting the classical deterministic problems of the calculus of variations, with emphasis on the necessary optimality conditions of Euler-Lagrange and the Noether theorem. As examples of application, we obtain the conservation laws of momentum and energy from mechanics, valid along the Euler-Lagrange extremals. We then introduce the stochastic calculus of variations, proving a recent stochastic Noether-type theorem obtained by Cresson. We end by pointing out an interesting open problem.

Weak Conservation Laws for Minimizers which are not Pontryagin Extremals

We prove a Noether-type symmetry theorem for invariant optimal control problems with unrestricted controls. The result establishes weak conservation laws along all the minimizers of the problems, including those minimizers which do not satisfy the Pontryagin Maximum Principle.
