Group cohomology of polynomial growth is defined for any finitely generated discrete group, using cochains that have polynomial growth with respect to the word length function. We give a geometric condition that guarantees that it agrees with the usual group cohomology and verify this condition for a class of combable groups. Our condition involves a chain complex that is closely related to exotic cohomology theories studied by Allcock and Gersten and by Mineyev.

A discrete group with word-length (G,L) is B-isocohomological for a bounding classes B if the comparison map from B-bounded cohomology to ordinary cohomology (with complex coefficients) is an isomorphism; it is strongly B-isocohomological if the same is true with arbitrary coefficients. Secondary Higher Invariants and Cyclic Cohomology for Groups of Polynomial Growth

We prove that if $Γ$ is a group of polynomial growth then each delocalized cyclic cocycle on the group algebra has a representative of polynomial growth. For each delocalized cocyle we thus define a higher analogue of Lott's delocalized eta invariant and prove its convergence for invertible differential operators. Complexity and cohomology of cohomological Mackey functors

Let $k$ be a field of characteristic $p>0$. Call a finite group $G$ a poco group over $k$ if any finitely generated cohomological Mackey functor for $G$ over $k$ has polynomial growth. The main result of this paper is that $G$ is a poco group over $k$ if and only if the Sylow $p$-subgroups of $G$ are cyclic, when $p>2$, or have sectional rank at most 2, when $p=2$. Rough index theory on spaces of polynomial growth and contractibility

We will show that for a polynomially contractible manifold of bounded geometry and of polynomial volume growth every coarse and rough cohomology class pairs continuously with the K-theory of the uniform Roe algebra. Delocalized eta invariants, cyclic cohomology and higher rho invariants

The first main result of this paper is to prove that the convergence of Lott's delocalized eta invariant holds for all differential operators with a sufficiently large spectral gap at zero. A note on the higher Atiyah-Patodi-Singer index theorem on Galois coverings

Let $Γ$ be a finitely generated discrete group satisfying the rapid decay condition. We give a new proof of the higher Atiyah-Patodi-Singer theorem on a Galois $Γ$-coverings, thus providing an explicit formula for the higher index associated to a group cocycle $c\in Z^k (Γ;\mathbb{C})$ which is of polynomial growth with respect to a word-metric. Our new proof employs relative K-theory and relative cyclic cohomology in an essential way.
