Some remarks on Kurepa's left factorial

We establish a connection between the subfactorial function S(n) and the left factorial function of Kurepa K(n). Some elementary properties and congruences of both functions are described. Finally, we give a calculated distribution of primes below 10000 of K(n).

Variations of Kurepa's left factorial hypothesis

Kurepa's hypothesis asserts that for each integer $n\ge 2$ the greatest common divisor of $!n:=\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}k!$ and $n!$ is $2$. Motivated by an equivalent formulation of this hypothesis involving derangement numbers, here we give a formulation of Kurepa's hypothesis in terms of divisibility of any Kurepa's determinant $K_p$ of order $p-4$ by a prime $p\ge 7$. We discuss some problems in number theory posed by Djuro Kurepa (1907-1993), including his classical left factorial hypothesis that an odd prime $p$ does not divide $0! + 1! + ... + (p-1)!$.

Some considerations in connection with Kurepa's function

In this paper we consider the functional equation for factorial sum and its particular solutions (Kurepa's function $K(z)$ \cite{Kurepa_71} and function $K_{1}(z)$). We determine an extension of domain of functions $K(z)$ and $K_{1}(z)$ in the sense of Cauchy's principal value at point \cite{Slavic_70}. In this paper we give an addendum to the proof of Slavi\' c's representation of Kurepa's function $K(z)$ \cite{Slavic_73}. Improved algorithms for left factorial residues

We present improved algorithms for computing the left factorial residues $!p=0!+1!+...+(p-1)! \!\mod p$. We use these algorithms for the calculation of the residues $!p\!\mod p$, for all primes $p$ up to $2^{40}$. Our results confirm that Kurepa's left factorial conjecture is still an open problem, as they show that there are no odd primes $p<2^{40}$ such that $p$ divides $!p$. Additionally, we confirm that there are no socialist primes $p$ with $5<p<2^{40}$.

A Note About the {Ki(z)} Functions

In the article [Petojevic 2006], A. Petojevi\' c verified useful properties of the $K_{i}(z)$ functions which generalize Kurepa's [Kurepa 1971] left factorial function. In this note, we present simplified proofs of two of these results and we answer the open question stated in [Petojevic 2006]. Finally, we discuss the differential transcendency of the $K_{i}(z)$ functions.

In this paper we consider the functional equation for alternating factorial sum and some of its particular solutions (alternating Kurepa's function $A(z)$ from [Petojevic_02] and function $A_{1}(z)$). On Some Finite Sums with Factorials

The summation formula $$ \sum^{n-1}_{i=0}ε^i i! (i^k+u_k) = v_k+ε^{n-1} n! A_{k-1}(n) $$ $(ε=\pm 1; k=1,2,...; u_k, v_k\in \msbm\hbox{Z}; A_{k-1}$ is a polynomial) is derived and its various aspects are considered. In particular, divisibility with respect to $n$ is investigated. Infinitely many equivalents to Kurepa's hypothesis on the left factorial are found.

Non-unique factorizations, land surveying and electricity

Non-unique factorizations theory, which started in algebraic number theory, over the years has expanded into several areas of mathematics. Here, we propose yet another branching.
