The Alternating Group of degree 6 in Geometry of the Leech Lattice and K3 Surfaces

The alternating group of degree 6 is located at the junction of three series of simple non-commutative groups : simple sporadic groups, alternating groups and simple groups of Lie type. It plays a very special role in the theory of finite groups. We shall study its new roles both in a finite geometry of certain pentagon in the Leech lattice and also in a complex algebraic geometry of $K3$ surfaces.

The Alternating Groups and K3 Surfaces

In this note, we consider all possible extensions G of a non-trivial perfect group H acting faithfully on a K3 surface X. The pair (X, G) is proved to be uniquely determined by G if the transcendental value of G is maximum. In particular, we have G/H < Z/(2) + Z/(2), if H is the alternating group A_5 and normal in G.

Noncommutative Riemannian Geometry of the Alternating Group A_4

We study the noncommutative Riemannian geometry of the alternating group $A_4=(Z_2 \times Z_2)\cross Z_3$ using a recent formulation for finite groups. We find a unique `Levi-Civita' connection for the invariant metric, and find that it has Ricci-flat but nonzero Riemann curvature. We show that it is the unique Ricci-flat connection on $A_4$ with the standard framing (we solve the vacuum Einstein's equation). On the tensor rank of multiplication in finite extensions of finite fields and related issues in algebraic geometry

In this paper, we give a survey of the known results concerning the tensor rank of the multiplication in finite extensions of finite fields, enriched with some not published recent results as well as analyzes enhancing the qualitative understanding of the domain. In particular, we identify and clarify certain results not completely proved and we emphasis the link with open problems in number theory, algebraic geometry, and coding theory.

Geometry of vector bundle extensions and applications to a generalised theta divisor

Let E and F be vector bundles over a complex projective smooth curve X, and suppose that 0 -> E -> W -> F -> 0 is a nontrivial extension. Let G be a subbundle of F, and D an effective divisor on X. We give a criterion for the subsheaf G(-D) \subset F to lift to W, in terms of the geometry of a scroll in the extension space \PP H^1 (X, Hom(F, E)). We use this criterion to describe the tangent cone to the generalised theta divisor on the moduli space of semistable bundles of rank r and slope g-1 over X, at a stable point. Hermitian vector bundles and extension groups on arithmetic schemes. I. Geometry of numbers

We define and investigate extension groups in the context of Arakelov geometry. The 'arithmetic extension groups' we introduce are extensions by groups of analytic types of the usual extension groups attached to $Ø_X$-modules over an arithmetic scheme $X$. Derived complex analytic geometry II: square-zero extensions

We continue the explorations of derived \canal geometry started in [DAG-IX] and in http://arxiv.org/abs/1506.09042. We describe the category of $\mathcal O_X$-modules over a derived complex analytic space $X$ as the stabilization of a suitable category of analytic algebras over $\mathcal O_X$. Finally, we apply this description to introduce the notion of analytic square-zero extension and prove a fundamental structure theorem for them.

On certain extensions of vector bundles in p-adic geometry

Given two arbitrary vector bundles on the Fargues-Fontaine curve, we give an explicit criterion in terms of Harder-Narasimhan polygons on whether they realize a semistable vector bundle as their extensions. Our argument is largely combinatorial and builds upon the dimension analysis of certain moduli spaces of bundle maps developed in [BFH+22].
