We compute the Coifman-Meyer-Wickerhauser measure $μ$ for certain families of quadrature mirror filters (QMFs), and we establish that for a subclass of QMFs, $μ$ contains a fractal scale. In particular, these measures $μ$ are not in the Lebesgue class.

Wavelet representations and Fock space on positive matrices

We show that every biorthogonal wavelet determines a representation by operators on Hilbert space satisfying simple identities, which captures the established relationship between orthogonal wavelets and Cuntz-algebra representations in that special case. Each of these representations is shown to have tractable finite-dimensional co-invariant doubly-cyclic subspaces. Further, motivated by these representations, we introduce a general Fock-space Hilbert space construction which yields creation operators containing the Cuntz--Toeplitz isometries as a special case.

Measures in wavelet decompositions

In applications, choices of orthonormal bases in Hilbert space H may come about from the simultaneous diagonalization of some specific abelian algebra of operators. Taylor Series as Wide-sense Biorthogonal Wavelet Decomposition

Pointwise-supported generalized wavelets are introduced, based on Dirac, doublet and further derivatives of delta. A generalized biorthogonal analysis leads to standard Taylor series and new Dual-Taylor series that may be interpreted as Laurent Schwartz distributions. A Parseval-like identity is also derived for Taylor series, showing that Taylor series support an energy theorem. New representations for signals called derivagrams are introduced, which are similar to spectrograms. This approach corroborates the impact of wavelets in modern signal analysis.

Characterizations of function spaces on the sphere using frames

In this paper we introduce a polynomial frame on the unit sphere $\sph$ of $\mathbb{R}^d$, for which every distribution has a wavelet-type decomposition. More importantly, we prove that many function spaces on the sphere $\sph$, such as $L^p$, $H^p$ and Besov spaces, can be characterized in terms of the coefficients in the wavelet decompositions, as in the usual Euclidean case $\mathbb{R}^d$. Wavelet decomposition and bandwidth of functions defined on vector spaces over finite fields

In this paper we study how zeros of the Fourier transform of a function $f: \mathbb{Z}_p^d \to \mathbb{C}$ are related to the structure of the function itself. In particular, we introduce a notion of bandwidth of such functions and discuss its connection with the decomposition of this function into wavelets. Connections of these concepts with the tomography principle and the Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem are explored. Stability of nearly optimal decompositions in Fourier Analysis

The question of existence is treated for near-minimizers for the distance functional (or $E$-functional in the interpolation terminology) that are stable under the action of certain operators. In particular, stable near-minimizers for the couple $(L^1, L^p)$ are shown to exist when the operator is the projection on wavelets and these wavelets possess only some weak conditions of decay at infinity.
