This is the third paper of a series relating the equivariant twisted $K$-theory of a compact Lie group $G$ to the ``Verlinde space'' of isomorphism classes of projective lowest-weight representations of the loop groups. Here, we treat arbitrary compact Lie groups. In addition, we discuss the relation to semi-infinite cohomology, the fusion product of Conformal Field theory, the rôle of energy and the topological Peter-Weyl theorem.

Loop groups and twisted K-theory I

This is the first in a series of papers investigating the relationship between the twisted equivariant K-theory of a compact Lie group G and the "Verlinde ring" of its loop group. In this paper we set up the foundations of twisted equivariant K-groups, and more generally twisted K-theory of groupoids. We establish enough basic properties to make effective computations. Twisted K-theory and loop groups

Twisted K-theory has received much attention recently in both mathematics and physics. We describe some models of twisted K-theory, both topological and geometric. Then we state a theorem which relates representations of loop groups to twisted equivariant K-theory. This is joint work with Michael Hopkins and Constantin Teleman.

Twisted Real quasi-elliptic cohomology

In this paper we construct twisted Real quasi-elliptic cohomology as the twisted KR-theory of loop groupoids. The theory systematically incorporates loop rotation and reflection. After establishing basic properties of the theory, we construct twisted elliptic Pontryagin characters and, without twists, Real analogues of the string power operation of quasi-elliptic cohomology. We also explore the relation of the theory to the Tate curve.

Twisted loop transgression and higher Jandl gerbes over finite groupoids

Classifying spaces of twisted loop groups

We study the classifying space of a twisted loop group $L_σG$ where $G$ is a compact Lie group and $σ$ is an automorphism of $G$ of finite order modulo inner automorphisms. Equivalently, we study the $σ$-twisted adjoint action of $G$ on itself. We derive a formula for the cohomology ring $H^*(BL_σG)$ and explicitly carry out the calculation for all automorphisms of simple Lie groups. More generally, we derive a formula for the equivariant cohomology of compact Lie group actions with constant rank stabilizers.

Loop Groupoids, Gerbes, and Twisted Sectors on Orbifolds

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the notion of loop groupoid associated to a groupoid. After studying the general properties of the loop groupoid, we show how this notion provides a very natural geometric interpretation for the twisted sectors of an orbifold, and for the inner local systems introduced by Ruan by means of a natural generalization of the concept holonomy of a gerbe.

The twisted Drinfeld double of a finite group via gerbes and finite groupoids

The twisted Drinfeld double (or quasi-quantum double) of a finite group with a 3-cocycle is identified with a certain twisted groupoid algebra. The groupoid is the loop (or inertia) groupoid of the original group and the twisting is shown geometrically to be the loop transgression of the 3-cocycle. Twisted Equivariant Tate K-Theory

Starting with a $\mathbb{C}^*$-valued cocycle on the global quotient orbifold $X // G$, we apply transgression techniques for 2-gerbes, as developed by Lupercio and Uribe, to construct a gerbe on the orbifold loop space $\mathcal{L}(X//G)$. This gives a loop based definition of twisted equivariant Tate K-theory for finite groups that conforms to the definition that Luecke provides for compact, connected Lie groups. We relate our construction to Ganter's work on Moonshine and Huan's quasi-elliptic cohomology.

Twisted K theory invariants

An invariant for twisted K theory classes on a 3-manifold is introduced. The invariant is then applied to the twisted equivariant classes arising from the supersymmetric Wess-Zumino-Witten model based on the group SU(2). It is shown that the classes defined by different highest weight representations of the loop group LSU(2) are inequivalent. The results are compatible with Freed-Hopkins-Teleman identification of twisted equivariant K theory as the Verlinde algebra.

Homotopy Algebra Structures on Twisted Tensor Products and String Topology Operations

Given a $C_\infty$ coalgebra $C_*$, a strict dg Hopf algebra $H_*$, and a twisting cochain $τ:C_* \rightarrow H_*$ such that $Im(τ) \subset Prim(H_*)$, we describe a procedure for obtaining an $A_\infty$ coalgebra on $C_* \otimes H_*$. This is an extension of Brown's work on twisted tensor products. Dirac Families for Loop Groups as Matrix Factorizations

We identify the category of integrable lowest-weight representations of the loop group LG of a compact Lie group G with the linear category of twisted, conjugation-equivariant curved Fredholm complexes on the group G: namely, the twisted, equivariant matrix factorizations of a super-potential built from the loop rotation action on LG. This lifts the isomorphism of K-groups of [FHT1,2, 3] to an equivalence of categories. The construction uses families of Dirac operators.
