If a partition of a lattice in R^d is selfsimilar, it is called lattice substitution system (LSS). Such sets represent nonperiodic, but highly ordered structures. An important property of such structures is, whether they are model sets or not (equivalently, whether they are pure point diffractive or not). In this paper two conditions are given, which can be used to show that a given lattice substitution system does not consist of model sets.

Lattice Substitution Systems and Model Sets

The paper studies ways in which the sets of a partition of a lattice in $\RR^n$ become regular model sets. The main theorem gives equivalent conditions which assure that a matrix substitution system on a lattice in $\RR^n$ gives rise to regular model sets (based on $p$-adic-like internal spaces), and hence to pure point diffractive sets. The methods developed here are used to show that the $n-$dimensional chair tiling and the sphinx tiling are pure point diffractive.

Substitution Tilings and Separated Nets with Similarities to the Integer Lattice

We show that any primitive substitution tiling of the plane creates a separated net which is biLipschitz to the integer lattice. Then we show that if H is a primitive Pisot substitution in an Euclidean space, for every separated net Y, that corresponds to some tiling of the tiling space, there exists a bijection F between Y and the integer lattice that translate every element of Y a bounded distance. As a corollary we get that we have such an F for any separated net that corresponds to a Penrose Tiling. The proofs rely on results of Laczkovich, and Burago and Kleiner.

Consequences of Pure Point Diffraction Spectra for Multiset Substitution Systems

There is a growing body of results in the theory of discrete point sets and tiling systems giving conditions under which such systems are pure point diffractive. Here we look at the opposite direction: what can we infer about a discrete point set or tiling, defined through a primitive substitution system, given that it is pure point diffractive? Linearly repetitive Delone sets are rectifiable

In this paper we prove that, for any integer $d>0$, every linearly repetitive Delone set in the Euclidean $d$-space $\RR^d$ is equivalent, up to a bi-Lipschitz homeomorphism, to the integer lattice $\ZZ^d$. Determining pure discrete spectrum for some self-affine tilings

By the algorithm implemented in the paper [2] by Akiyama-Lee and some of its predecessors, we have examined the pure discreteness of the spectrum for all irreducible Pisot substitutions of trace less than or equal to $2$, and some cases of planar tilings generated by boundary substitutions due to the paper [17] by Kenyon.

Bounded Displacement Non-Equivalence In Substitution Tilings

In the study of aperiodic order and mathematical models of quasicrystals, questions regarding equivalence relations on Delone sets naturally arise. This work is dedicated to the bounded displacement (BD) equivalence relation, and especially to results concerning instances of non-equivalence. Pisot substitution sequences, one dimensional cut-and-project sets and bounded remainder sets with fractal boundary

This paper uses a connection between bounded remainder sets in $\mathbb{R}^d$ and cut-and-project sets in $\mathbb{R}$ together with the fact that each one-dimensional Pisot substitution sequence is bounded distance equivalent to some lattice in order to construct several bounded remainder sets with fractal boundary. Moreover it is shown that there are cut-and-project sets being not bounded distance equivalent to each other even if they are locally indistinguishable, more precisely: even if they are contained in the same hull.
