In this paper we study Frobenius bimodules between noncommutative spaces (quasi-schemes), developing some of their basic properties. If X and Y are spaces, we study those Frobenius X,Y-bimodules M satisfying properties that are natural in the context of noncommutative algebraic geometry, focusing in particular on cartain "local" conditions on M. As applications, we prove decomposition and gluing theorems for those Frobenius bimodules which have good local properties. Additionally, when X and Y are schemes we relate Frobenius X,Y-bimodules to the sheaf X,Y-bimodules introduced by Van den Bergh.
We establish relations between Frobenius parts and between flat-dominant dimensions of algebras linked by Frobenius bimodules. This is motivated by the Nakayama conjecture and an approach of Martinez-Villa to the Auslander-Reiten conjecture on stable equivalences. We show that the Frobenius parts of Frobenius extensions are again Frobenius extensions. Further, let $A$ and $B$ be finite-dimensional algebras over a field $k$, and let $\dm(_AX)$ stand for the dominant dimension of an $A$-module $X$. If $_BM_A$ is a Frobenius bimodule, then $\dm(A)\le \dm(_BM)$ and $\dm(B)\le \dm(_A\Hom_B(M, B))$.…
We construct new examples of left bialgebroids and Hopf algebroids, arising from noncommutative geometry. Given a first order differential calculus $Ω$ on an algebra $A$, with the space of left vector fields $\mathfrak{X}$, we construct a left $A$-bialgeroid $B\mathfrak{X}$, whose category of left modules is isomorphic to the category of left bimodule connections over the calculus. When $Ω$ is a pivotal bimodule, we construct a Hopf algebroid $H\mathfrak{X}$ over $A$, by restricting to a subcategory of bimodule connections which intertwine with both $Ω$ and $\mathfrak{X}$ in a compatible manne…
We prove a Koszul formula for the Levi-Civita connection for any pseudo-Riemannian bilinear metric on a class of centered bimodule of noncommutative one-forms. As an application to the Koszul formula, we show that our Levi-Civita connection is a bimodule connection. We construct a spectral triple on a fuzzy sphere and compute the scalar curvature for the Levi-Civita connection associated to a canonical metric.
Given the algebra, Hilbert space H, grading and real structure of the finite spectral triple of the Standard Model, we classify all possible Dirac operators such that H is a self-Morita equivalence bimodule for the associated Clifford algebra.
We study geodesics in noncommutative geometry by means of bimodule connections and completely positive maps using the Kasparov, Stinespring, Gel'fand, Naimark & Segal (KSGNS) construction. This is motivated from classical geometry, and we also consider examples on the algebras M_2(C) and C(Z_n), though restricting to classical real time. On the way we have to consider the reality of a noncommutative vector field, and for this we propose a definition depending on a state on the algebra.
We introduce and analyse a general notion of fundamental group for noncommutative spaces, described by differential graded algebras. For this we consider connections on finitely generated projective bimodules over differential graded algebras and show that the category of flat connections on such modules forms a Tannakian category. As such this category can be realised as the category of representations of an affine group scheme $G$, which in the classical case is (the pro-algebraic completion of) the usual fundamental group. This motivates us to define $G$ to be the fundamental group of the n…
