Random walks in random environments (RWRE's) have been a source of surprising phenomena and challenging problems since they began to be studied in the 70's. Hitting times and, more recently, certain regeneration structures, have played a major role in our understanding of RWRE's. We review these and provide some hints on current research directions and challenges.

The joint distribution of value and local time for Brownian Motion has been reported by Borodin and Salminen. Its asymptotic behavior for recurrent random walk has been presented by Jain and Pruitt. Motivated by the need for queue size control during a pandemic (Hassin, Meilijson and Perlman), the current study presents closed form formulas for random walk and reflected random walk with $\pm 1$ increments, not necessarily fair.
We consider a random walker in a dynamic random environment given by a system of independent simple symmetric random walks. We obtain ballisticity results under two types of perturbations: low particle density, and strong local drift on particles. Surprisingly, the random walker may behave very differently depending on whether the underlying environment particles perform lazy or non-lazy random walks, which is related to a notion of permeability of the system. We show that for a weakly dense subset of the domain of attraction of a positive stable random variable of index $0<α<1$($DOA\left(α\right))$ the functional stable convergence is a time-changed renewal convergence of distribution of finite mean. Applied to Continuous Time Random Walk(CTRW) á la Montroll and Wiess we show that CTRW with renewal times in a weakly dense set of $DOA\left(α\right)$ can be realized as random walk in a random environment. We find the quenched limit and give a bound on the error of the approximation.
Consider the subgraph of the discrete $d$-dimensional torus of size length $N$, $d\ge3$, induced by the range of the simple random walk on the torus run until the time $uN^d$. We establish scaling limits for the random walk whose state space is the range of a simple random walk on the four-dimensional integer lattice. These concern the asymptotic behaviour of the graph distance from the origin and the spatial location of the random walk in question. The limiting processes are the analogues of those for higher-dimensional versions of the model, but additional logarithmic terms in the scaling factors are needed to see these. We consider a branching system of random walk in random environment (in location) in $\mathbb{N}$. We will give the exact limit value of $\frac{M_{n}}{n}$, where $M_{n}$ denotes the minimal position of branching random walk at time $n$. A key step in the proof is to transfer our branching random walks in random environment (in location) to branching random walks in random environment (in time), by use of Bramson's "branching processes within a branching process" .
We prove the existence of scaling limits for the projection on the backbone of the random walks on the Incipient Infinite Cluster and the Invasion Percolation Cluster on a regular tree. We treat these projected random walks as randomly trapped random walks (as defined in [BCČR15]) and thus describe these scaling limits as spatially subordinated Brownian motions
We are interested in the behaviour of the range of the Campanino and Pétritis random walk, namely a simple random walk on the lattice $\mathbb Z^2$ with random orientations of the horizontal layers. Associated to a random walk on $\mathbb{Z}$ and a positive integer $n$, there is a return probability of the random walk returning to the origin after $n$ steps. An interesting question is when the set of return probabilities uniquely determines the random walk. There are trivial situations where two different random walks have the same return probabilities. In this work we study asymptotic properties of a long range memory random walk known as elephant random walk. First we prove recurrence and positive recurrence for the elephant random walk. Then, we establish the transience regime of the model. Finally, under the Poisson Hypothesis, we study the replica mean field limit for this random walk and we obtain an upper bound for the expected distance of the walker from the origin.
We consider a random walk $\{S_n\}_{n\in \mathbb{N}}$ in time-inhomogeneous random environment $ξ$. For almost each realization of $ξ$, we formulate a quenched harmonic function, based on which we can define the random walk in random environment conditioned to stay positive by the Doob's $h$-transform. The lonely branching random walks on ${\mathbb Z}^d$ is an interacting particle system where each particle moves as an independent random walk and undergoes critical binary branching when it is alone. We show that if the symmetrized walk is recurrent, lonely branching random walks die out locally. Furthermore, the same result holds if additional branching is allowed when the walk is not alone.

We consider a random walk in an i.i.d. random environment on Z that is perturbed by cookies of strength 1. The number of cookies per site is assumed to be i.i.d. Results on the speed of the random walk are obtained. Our main tool is the correspondence in certain cases between the random walk and a branching process in a random environment with migration.

We study one-dimensional nearest neighbour random walk in site-random environment. We establish precise (sharp) large deviations in the so-called ballistic regime, when the random walk drifts to the right with linear speed. In the sub-ballistic regime, when the speed is sublinear, we describe the precise probability of slowdown.
We introduce a new type of random walk where the definition of edge reinforcement is very different from the one in the reinforced random walk models studied so far, and investigate its basic properties, such as null/positive recurrence, transience, and speed. Consider $(1,2)$ random walk in random environment $\{X_n\}_{n\ge0}.$ In each step, the walk jumps at most a distance $2$ to the right or a distance $1$ to the left. We consider random walks perturbed at zero which behave like (possibly different) random walks with i.i.d. increments on each half lines and restarts at $0$ whenever they cross that point. We show that the perturbed random walk, after being rescaled in a proper way, converges to a skew Brownian motion whose parameter is defined by renewal functions of the simple random walks and the transition probabilities from $0$.
We look at random walks in Dirichlet environment. It was known that in dimension $d\geq 3$, if the walk is sub-ballistic, the displacement of the walk is polynomial of order $κ$ for some explicit $κ$. We show that the walk, after renormalization, actually converges to a $κ$-stable completely asymmetric Levy Process.

Examples of interacting particle systems on $\mathbb{Z}$ as Pfaffian point processes: coalescing branching random walks and annihilating random walks with immigration
We study dynamic random conductance models on $\mathbb{Z}^2$ in which the environment evolves as a reversible Markov process that is stationary under space-time shifts. We prove under a second moment assumption that two conditionally independent random walks in the same environment collide infinitely often almost surely. These results apply in particular to random walks on dynamical percolation.
We consider a recurrent random walk on a rooted tree in random environment given by a branching random walk. Up to the first return to the root, its edge local times form a Multi-type Galton-Watson tree with countably infinitely many types. When the walk is the diffusive or sub-diffusive, by studying the maximal type of this Galton-Watson tree, we establish the asymptotic behaviour of the largest local times of this walk during n excursions, under the annealed law.
We give a complete classification of scaling limits of randomly trapped random walks and associated clock processes on $\mathbb Z^d$, $d\ge 2$. Namely, under the hypothesis that the discrete skeleton of the randomly trapped random walk has a slowly varying return probability, we show that the scaling limit of its clock process is either deterministic linearly growing or a stable subordinator.
