The aim of the paper is to relate computational and arithmetic questions about Euler's constant $γ$ with properties of the values of the $q$-logarithm function, with natural choice of $q$. By these means, we generalize a classical formula for $γ$ due to Ramanujan, together with Vacca's and Gosper's series for $γ$, as well as deduce irrationality criteria and tests and new asymptotic formulas for computing Euler's constant. The main tools are Euler-type integrals and hypergeometric series.
We prove some Lambert series which were stated by Gosper without proof or reference. As an application, we shall evaluate integrals involving Ramanujan theta function $ψ(q)$. Furthermore, motivated by Ramanujan's identities for $qψ^4(q^2)$ and $\fr{ψ^3(q)}{ψ(q^3)}$, we shall evaluate the squares of $qψ^4(q^2)$ and $\fr{ψ^3(q)}{ψ(q^3)}$ in terms of Lambert series.

In 1730 James Stirling, building on the work of Abraham de Moivre, published what is known as Stirling's approximation of $n!$. He gave a good formula which is asymptotic to $n!$. Since then hundreds of papers have given alternative proofs of his result and improved upon it, including notably by Burside, Gosper, and Mortici. However Srinivasa Ramanujan gave a remarkably better asymptotic formula. Hirschhorn and Villarino gave a nice proof of Ramanujan's result and an error estimate for the approximation. In recent years there have been several improvements of Stirling's formula including by Ne…
We prove a remarkable formula of Ramanujan for the logarithmic derivative of the gamma function, which converges more rapidly than classical expansions, and which is stated without proof in Ramanujan's notebooks. The formula has a number of very interesting consequences which we derive, including an elegant hyperbolic summation, Ramanujan's formula for the Riemann zeta function evaluated at the odd positive integers, and new formulae for Euler's constant, gamma.
The continued logarithm algorithm was introduced by Gosper around 1978, and recently studied by Borwein, Calkin, Lindstrom, and Mattingly. In this note I show that the continued logarithm algorithm terminates in at most 2 log_2 p + O(1) steps on input a rational number p/q >= 1. Furthermore, this bound is tight, up to an additive constant.
In this work we introduce interesting infinite series, related to Ramanujan-Soldner constant. Our method uses general properties of polynomials of binomial type and Lagrange inversion theorem. Also we study properties of the operator 1/dlog, acting on formal power series. In addition, several properties of polynomials of binomial type associated to elementary functions are discussed.
It is pointed out that the generalized Lambert series $\displaystyle\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\frac{n^{N-2h}}{e^{n^{N}x}-1}$ studied by Kanemitsu, Tanigawa and Yoshimoto can be found on page $332$ of Ramanujan's Lost Notebook in a slightly more general form. We extend an important transformation of this series obtained by Kanemitsu, Tanigawa and Yoshimoto by removing restrictions on the parameters $N$ and $h$ that they impose. From our extension we deduce a beautiful new generalization of Ramanujan's famous formula for odd zeta values which, for $N$ odd and $m>0$, gives a relation between $ζ(2m+1)$ a…
We generalize well-known Catalan-type integrals for Euler's constant to values of the generalized-Euler-constant function and its derivatives. Using generating functions appeared in these integral representations we give new Vacca and Ramanujan-type series for values of the generalized-Euler-constant function and Addison-type series for values of the generalized-Euler-constant function and its derivative. As a consequence, we get base $B$ rational series for $\log\frac{4}π,$ $\frac{G}π$ (where $G$ is Catalan's constant), $\frac{ζ'(2)}{π^2}$ and also for logarithms of Somos's and Glaisher-Kinke…
The two-fold aim of the paper is to unify and generalize on the one hand the double integrals of Beukers for $ζ(2)$ and $ζ(3),$ and those of the second author for Euler's constant $γ$ and its alternating analog $\ln(4/π),$ and on the other hand the infinite products of the first author for $e$, and of the second author for $π$ and $e^γ.$ We obtain new double integral and infinite product representations of many classical constants, as well as a generalization to Lerch's transcendent of Hadjicostas's double integral formula for the Riemann zeta function, and logarithmic series for the digamma a…
In this paper new series for the first and second Stieltjes constants (also known as generalized Euler's constant), as well as for some closely related constants are obtained. These series contain rational terms only and involve the so-called Gregory coefficients, which are also known as (reciprocal) logarithmic numbers, Cauchy numbers of the first kind and Bernoulli numbers of the second kind. In addition, two interesting series with rational terms are given for Euler's constant and the constant ln(2*pi), and yet another generalization of Euler's constant is proposed and various formulas for …
