Hydrodynamic limit of a disordered lattice gas

We consider a model of lattice gas dynamics in the d-dimensional cubic lattice in the presence of disorder. If the particle interaction is only mutual exclusion and if the disorder field is given by i.i.d. bounded random variables, we prove the almost sure existence of the hydrodynamical limit in dimension d>2. The limit equation is a non linear diffusion equation with diffusion matrix characterized by a variational principle.

Recent results and open problems on the hydrodynamics of disordered asymmetric exclusion and zero-range processes

This paper summarizes results and some open problems about the large-scale and long-time behavior of asymmetric, disordered exclusion and zero-range processes. These processes have randomly chosen jump rates at the sites of the underlying lattice. The interesting feature is that for suitably distributed random rates there is a phase transition where the process behaves differently at high and low densities. Some of this distinction is visible on the hydrodynamic scale.

Hydrodynamic limit for a disordered harmonic chain

We consider a one-dimensional unpinned chain of harmonic oscillators with random masses. We prove that after hyperbolic scaling of space and time the distributions of the elongation, momentum and energy converge to the solution of the Euler equations. Anderson localization decouples the mechanical modes from the thermal modes, allowing the closure of the energy conservation equation even out of thermal equilibrium. Hydrodynamic limit for a disordered quantum harmonic chain

In this note, we study the hydrodynamic limit, in the hyperbolic space-time scaling, for a one-dimensional unpinned chain of quantum harmonic oscillators with random masses. To the best of our knowledge, this is among the first examples, where one can prove the hydrodynamic limit for a quantum system rigorously. In fact, we prove that after hyperbolic rescaling of time and space the distribution of the elongation, momentum, and energy averaged under the proper Gibbs state, converges to the solution of the Euler equation. Hydrodynamics in a condensation regime: the disordered asymmetric zero-range process

We study asymmetric zero-range processes on Z with nearest-neighbour jumps and site disorder. The jump rate of particles is an arbitrary but bounded nondecreasing function of the number of particles. For any given environment satisfying suitable averaging properties, we establish a hydrodynamic limit given by a scalar conservation law including the domain above critical density, where the flux is shown to be constant.

Hydrodynamic limit for a zero-range process in the Sierpinski gasket

We prove that the hydrodynamic limit of a zero-range process evolving in graphs approximating the Sierpinski gasket is given by a nonlinear heat equation. We also prove existence and uniqueness of the hydrodynamic equation by considering a finite-difference scheme.

Hydrodynamic limit for a boundary driven stochastic lattice gas model with many conserved quantities

We prove the hydrodynamic limit for a particle system in which particles may have different velocities. We assume that we have two infinite reservoirs of particles at the boundary: this is the so-called boundary driven process. The dynamics we considered consists of a weakly asymmetric simple exclusion process with collision among particles having different velocities.

Dynamics of dilute gases at equilibrium: from the atomistic description to fluctuating hydrodynamics

We derive linear fluctuating hydrodynamics as the low density limit of a deterministic system of particles at equilibrium. Behavior dominated by slow particles in a disordered asymmetric exclusion process

We study the large space and time scale behavior of a totally asymmetric, nearest-neighbor exclusion process in one dimension with random jump rates attached to the particles. When slow particles are sufficiently rare the system has a phase transition.
