The standard Faddeev quantization of the simple groups is modified in such a way that the quantum analogs of the nonsemisimple groups are obtained by contractions. The contracted quantum groups are regarded as the algebras of noncommutative functions generated by elements $J_{ik}t_{ik},$ where $J_{ik}$ are some products of generators of the algebra ${\bf D}(ι)$ and $t_{ik}$ are the noncommutative generators of guantum group. Possible contractions of quantum orthogonal groups essentially depend on the choice of primitive elements of the Hopf algebra. All such choices are considered for quantum group $SO_{q}(N;C)$ and all allowed contractions in Cayley--Klein scheme are described.
The quantum deformations of the complex kinematical groups have been investigated as a contractions of $SO_q(5;C).$ The quantum Euclead $E_q(4;C)$ and Newton $N_q(4;C)$ groups with unchanged deformation parameter as well as Newton group $N_v(4;C)$ with transformed deformation parameter are obtained. But there is no quantum analog of the (complex) Galilei group $G(1,3).$
According to correspondence principle a new physical theory must include an old one as a particular case. For space-time symmetries this principle is realized as the chain of contractions of the kinematical groups: $$ S^{\pm}(1,3)\stackrel{K \to 0}{\longrightarrow}
P(1,3)\stackrel{c \to \infty}{\longrightarrow}G(1,3). $$ As it was mentioned above there is no quantum deformation of the complex Galilei group in the standard Cayley--Klein scheme, therefore it is not possible to construct the quantum analog of the full chain of contractions of the (1+3) kinematical groups even at the level of a complex groups.
Possible contractions of quantum orthogonal groups which correspond to different choices of primitive elements of Hopf algebra are considered and all allowed contractions in Cayley--Klein scheme are obtained. Quantum deformations of kinematical groups have been investigated and have shown that quantum analog of (complex) Galilei group G(1,3) do not exist in our scheme.
Spaces of constant curvature and their motion groups are described most naturally in Cartesian basis. All these motion groups also known as CK groups are obtained from orthogonal group by contractions and analytical continuations. On the other hand quantum deformation of orthogonal group $SO(N) $ is most easily performed in so-called symplectic basis. We reformulate its standard quantum deformation to Cartesian basis and obtain all possible contractions of quantum orthogonal group $SO_q(N)$ both for untouched and transformed deformation parameter. It turned out, that similar to undeformed case…
Lie bialgebra contractions are introduced and classified. A non-degenerate coboundary bialgebra structure is implemented into all pseudo-orthogonal algebras $so(p,q)$ starting from the one corresponding to $so(N+1)$. It allows to introduce a set of Lie bialgebra contractions which leads to Lie bialgebras of quasi-orthogonal algebras. This construction is explicitly given for the cases $N=2,3,4$. All Lie bialgebra contractions studied in this paper define Hopf algebra contractions for the Drinfel'd-Jimbo deformations $U_z so(p,q)$. They are explicitly used to generate new non-semisimple quantum…
A Poisson--Hopf algebra of smooth functions on the (1+1) Cayley--Klein groups is constructed by using a classical $r$--matrix which is invariant under contraction. The quantization of this algebra for the Euclidean, Galilei and Poincaré cases is developed, and their duals are also computed. Contractions on these quantum groups are studied.
A new derivation of the quantum deformation of the 2 dimensional Euclidean Poincare group (cf S. Zakrzewski) is proposed. It is based on a contraction of the Hopf algebra Fun(SO_q(3)). The deformation parameter q is sent to one, as in the construction of the $κ$-Poincare deformed algebra. The quantum group obtained is dual to that algebra.
The quantum group G_r,s provides a realisation of the two parameter quantum GL_p,q(2) which is known to be related to the two parameter nonstandard GL_hh'(2) group via a contraction method. We apply the contraction procedure to G_r,s and obtain a new Jordanian quantum group G_m,k. Furthermore, we provide a realisation of GL_h,h'(2) in terms of G_m,k. The contraction procedure is then extended to the coloured quantum group GL_r{λ,μ}(2) to yield a new Jordanian quantum group GL_m{λ,μ}(2). Both G_r,s and G_m,k are then generalised to their coloured versions which inturn provide similar realisatio…
The deformed double covering of E(2) group, denoted by $\tilde{E}_κ(2)$, is obtained by contraction from the $SU_μ(2)$. The contraction procedure is then used for producing a new examples of differential calculi: 3D-left covariant calculus on both $\tilde{E}_κ(2)$ and the deformed Euclidean group $E_κ(2)$ and two different 4D-bicovariant calculi on $\tilde{E}_κ(2)$ which correspond to the one 4D-bicovariant calculi on $E_κ(2)$ described in Ref.\cite{b14}.
The Inonu-Wigner contraction is applied to special relativity and the little groups of the Lorentz group. If the O(3) symmetry group for massive particle is boosted to an infinite-momentum frame, it becomes contracted to a combination of the cylindrical group and the two-dimensional Euclidean group. The Euclidean component becomes the Lorentz condition applicable to the electromagnetic four-potential, and the cylindrical component leads to the helicity and gauge degrees of freedom. The rotation around the cylindrical axis corresponds to the helicity, while the translation parallel to the axis …
We determine the central extensions of a whole family of Lie algebras, obtained by the method of graded contractions from so(N+1), N arbitrary. All the inhomogeneous orthogonal and pseudo-orthogonal algebras are members of this family, as well as a large number of other non-semisimple algebras, all of which have at least a semidirect structure (in some cases two or more). The dimensions of their second cohomology groups H^2(G,R) and the explicit expression of their central extensions are given.
It is known that the inhomogeneous quantum group IGL_{q,r}(2) can be constructed as a quotient of the multiparameter q-deformation of GL(3). We show that a similar result holds for the inhomogeneous Jordanian deformation and exhibit its Hopf structure.
Symmetries and their applications always played an important role in I.E. Segal's work. I shall exemplify this, starting with his correct proof (at the Lie group level) of what physicists call the ``O'Raifeartaigh theorem", continuing with his incidental introduction in 1951 of the (1953) Inönü--Wigner contractions, of which the passage from AdS (SO(2,3)) to Poincaré is an important example, and with his interest in conformal groups in the latter part of last century. Since the 60s Flato and I had many fruitful interactions with him around these topics. In a last section I succinctly relate th…
We present a systematic procedure to obtain singular solutions of the constant quantum Yang-Baxter equation in arbitrary dimension. This approach, inspired in the Lie (super)algebra structure, is explicitly applied to the particular case of (graded) contractions of the orthogonal real algebra ${\mathfrak{so}}(N+1)$. In this way we show that "classical" contraction parameters which appear in the commutation relations of the contracted Lie algebras, become quantum deformation parameters, arising as entries of the resulting quantum $R$-matrices.
$GL_h(n) \times GL_h(m)$-covariant $h$-bosonic algebras are built by contracting the $GL_q(n) \times GL_q(m)$-covariant $q$-bosonic algebras considered by the present author some years ago. Their defining relations are written in terms of the corresponding $R_h$-matrices. Whenever $n=2$, and $m=1$ or 2, it is proved by using U_h(sl(2)) Clebsch-Gordan coefficients that they can also be expressed in terms of coupled commutators in a way entirely similar to the classical case. Some U_h(sl(2)) rank-1/2 irreducible tensor operators, recently contructed by Aizawa in terms of standard bosonic operato…
We present contraction prescription of the quantum groups: from $SU_q(2)$ to $E_κ(2)$. Our strategy is different then one chosen in ref. [P. Zaugg, J. Phys. A {\bf 28} (1995) 2589]. We provide explicite prescription for contraction of $a, b, c$ and $d$ generators of $SL_q(2)$ and arrive at $^*$ Hopf algebra $E_κ(2)$.
We show that all orthogonal free quantum groups are isomorphic to variants of the free orthogonal Wang algebra, the hyperoctahedral quantum group or the quantum permutation group. We also obtain a description of their free complexification. In particular we complete the calculation of fusion rules of all orthogonal free quantum groups and their free complexifications.
We investigate the indicators for certain groups of the form $\BZ_k\rtimes D_l$ and their doubles, where $D_l$ is the dihedral group of order $2l$. We subsequently obtain an infinite family of totally orthogonal, completely real groups which are generated by involutions, and whose doubles admit modules with second indicator of -1. This provides us with answers to several questions concerning the doubles of totally orthogonal finite groups.
A family of deformed Hopf algebras corresponding to the classical maximal isometry algebras of zero-curvature N-dimensional spaces (the inhomogeneous algebras iso(p,q), p+q=N, as well as some of their contractions) are shown to have a bicrossproduct structure. This is done for both the algebra and, in a low-dimensional example, for the (dual) group aspects of the deformation.
We re-examine all the contractions related with the ${\cal U}_q(su(2))$ deformed algebra and study the consequences that the contraction process has for their structure. We also show using ${\cal U}_q(su(2))\times{\cal U}(u(1))$ as an example that, as in the undeformed case, the contraction may generate Hopf algebra cohomology. We shall show that most of the different Hopf algebra deformations obtained have a bicrossproduct or a cocycle bicrossproduct structure, for which we shall also give their dual `group' versions. The bicovariant differential calculi on the deformed spaces associated with…
