In hep-th/0010293 Kapustin and Orlov introduce the notion of an OPE-algebra and propose that it formalizes conformal field theories in the same way as vertex algebras formalize chiral algebras, i.e. the subalgebras of holomorphic fields of conformal field theories. In this thesis we study the question which concepts and results of the general theory of vertex algebras can be extended to OPE-algebras.

Intertwining operator algebras and vertex tensor categories for affine Lie algebras

We apply the general theory of tensor products of modules for a vertex operator algebra developed in our papers hep-th/9309076, hep-th/9309159, hep-th/9401119, q-alg/9505018, q-alg/9505019 and q-alg/9505020 to the case of the Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten models and related models in conformal field theory. Highest weight modules over W_{1+infty} algebra and the bispectral problem

The present paper establishes a connection between the Lie algebra W_{1+infty} and the bispectral problem. We show that the manifolds of bispectral operators obtained by Darboux transformations on powers of Bessel operators are in one to one correspondence with the manifolds of tau-functions lying in the W_{1+infty}-modules M_beta introduced in our previous paper hep-th/9510211. A Note concerning Subsingular Vectors and Embedding Diagrams of the N=2 Superconformal Algebras

Subsingular vectors of the N=2 superconformal algebras were discovered, and examples given, in 1996. Tensor products of modules for a vertex operator algebra and vertex tensor categories

We introduce the main concepts and announce the main results in a theory of tensor products for module categories for a vertex operator algebra. This theory is being developed in a series of papers including hep-th 9309076 and hep-th 9309159. Twisted Gauge and Gravity Theories on the Groenewold-Moyal Plane

Recent work [hep-th/0504183,hep-th/0508002] indicates an approach to the formulation of diffeomorphism invariant quantum field theories (qft's) on the Groenewold-Moyal (GM) plane. In this approach to the qft's, statistics gets twisted and the S-matrix in the non-gauge qft's becomes independent of the noncommutativity parameter theta^{μν}. A theory of tensor products for module categories for a vertex operator algebra, II

This is the second part in a series of papers presenting a theory of tensor products for module categories for a vertex operator algebra. In Part I (hep-th/9309076), the notions of $P(z)$- and $Q(z)$-tensor product of two modules for a vertex operator algebra were introduced and under a certain hypothesis, two constructions of a $Q(z)$-tensor product were given, using certain results stated without proof.
