In the given article the notion of infinite norm decomposition of a C$^*$-algebra is investigated. The norm decomposition is some generalization of Peirce decomposition. It is proved that the infinite norm decomposition of any C$^*$-algebra is a C$^*$-algebra. C$^*$-factors with an infinite and a nonzero finite projection and simple purely infinite C$^*$-algebras are constructed.

Let $T$ be an adjointable operator between two Hilbert $C^*$-modules and $T^*$ be the adjoint operator of $T$. Based on this new characterization of the polar decomposition, an application to the study of centered operators is carried out.
We initiate the study of annihilators in C*-algebras, showing that they are, in many ways, the best C*-algebra analogs of projections in von Neumann algebras. Using them, we obtain a type decomposition for arbitrary C*-algebras that is symmetric and completely consistent with the classical von Neumann algebra type decomposition. We also show that annihilators admit a very simple notion of equivalence that is again completely consistent with the notion of Murray-von Neumann equivalence in von Neumann algebras, sharing many of its general order theoretic properties.

Let G be a locally compact Abelian group. Following Ruy Exel, we view Fell bundles over the Pontrjagin dual of G as continuous spectral decompositions of G-actions on C*-algebras. We classify such spectral decompositions using certain dense subspaces related to Marc Rieffel's theory of square-integrability. There is a unique continuous spectral decomposition if the group acts properly on the primitive ideal space of the C*-algebra. But there are also examples of group actions without or with several inequivalent spectral decompositions.
It is shown that every Jiang-Su stable approximately subhomogeneous C*-algebra has finite decomposition rank. Previously, it was not even known that such algebras have finite nuclear dimension. A key step in the proof is that subhomogeneous C*-algebra are locally approximated by a certain class of more tractable subhomogeneous algebras, namely, a non-commutative generalization of the class of cell complexes. The result is applied to show that Jiang-Su stable minimal Z-crossed products have finite decomposition rank.

We give complete proofs of the following statements: 1) If the order unit space $\sum_{ξ,η}^\oplus p_ξAp_η$ is monotone complete in $B(H)$ (i.e. ultraweakly closed), then $\sum_{ξ,η}^\oplus p_ξAp_η$ is a C$^*$-algebra. 2) If $A$ is monotone complete in $B(H)$ (i.e. a von Neumann algebra), then $A=\sum_{ξ,η}^\oplus p_ξAp_η$. 3) If $\sum_{ξ,η}^\oplus p_ξAp_η$ is a C$^*$-algebra then this algebra is a von Neumann algebra.
Let A be a unital separable simple C*-algebra with a unique tracial state. We prove that if A is nuclear and quasidiagonal, then A tensored with the universal UHF-algebra has decomposition rank at most one. Then it is proved that A is nuclear, quasidiagonal and has strict comparison if and only if A has finite decomposition rank. For such A, we also give a direct proof that A tensored with a UHF-algebra has tracial rank zero. Applying this characterization, we obtain a counter-example to the Powers-Sakai conjecture.

We prove that under some conditions on T, T-Riesz elements can be decomposed into the sum of almost T-null element and quasi-nilpotent element.
