In this paper, we study the duality theory of Hopf $C^*$-algebras in a general ``Hilbert-space-free'' framework. Our particular interests are the ``full duality'' and the ``reduced duality''. In order to study the reduced duality, we define the interesting notion of Fourier algebra of a general Hopf $C^*$-algebra.

Truncation and duality results for Hopf image algebras

Associated to an Hadamard matrix $H\in M_N(\mathbb C)$ is the spectral measure $μ\in\mathcal P[0,N]$ of the corresponding Hopf image algebra, $A=C(G)$ with $G\subset S_N^+$. We study here a certain family of discrete measures $μ^r\in\mathcal P[0,N]$, coming from the idempotent state theory of $G$, which converge in Cesàro limit to $μ$. Yetter-Drinfel'd algebras and coideals of Weak Hopf $C^*$-Algebras

We characterize braided commutative Yetter-Drinfeld $C^*$-algebras over weak Hopf $C^*$-algebras in categorical terms. Using this, we then study quotient type coideal subalgebras of a given weak Hopf $C^*$-algebra $\mathcal G$ and coideal subalgebras invariant with respect to the adjoint action of $\mathcal G$. Finally, as an example, we explicitly describe quotient type coideal subalgebras of the weak Hopf $C^*$-algebras associated with Tambara-Yamagami categories.

Isomorphisms and Automorphisms of Discrete Multiplier Hopf C*-algebras

We construct Hopf algebra isomorphisms of discrete multiplier Hopf C*-algebras, and Hopf AF C*-algebras (generalized quantum UHF algebras), from K-theoretical data. Some of the intermediate results are of independent interest, such as a result that Jordan maps of Hopf algebras intertwine antipodes, and the applications to automorphisms of Hopf algebras.

Amenability of Hopf C^*-algebras

Three natural definitions for amenability of general Hopf C^*-algebras (all of them being generalizations of the case of locally compact groups) were given and the relations between them were studied. Moreover, amenability in the situation of duality of Hopf C^*-algebras was also studied.

Hopf algebras of primitive Lie pseudogroups and Hopf cyclic cohomology

We associate to each infinite primitive Lie pseudogroup a Hopf algebra of `transverse symmetries', by refining a procedure due to Connes and the first author in the case of the general pseudogroup. The affiliated Hopf algebra can be viewed as a `quantum group' counterpart of the infinite-dimensional primitive Lie algebra of the pseudogroup.
