Galois sections and $p$-adic period mappings

Let $K$ be a number field not containing a CM subfield. For any smooth projective curve $Y/K$ of genus $\geq2$, we prove that the image of the "Selmer" part of Grothendieck's section set inside the $K_v$-rational points $Y(K_v)$ is finite for every finite place $v$. This gives an unconditional verification of a prediction of Grothendieck's section conjecture. In the process of proving our main result, we also refine and extend the method of Lawrence and Venkatesh, with potential consequences for explicit computations.

The Differential Spectrum of the Power Mapping $x^{p^n-3}$

Let $n$ be a positive integer and $p$ a prime. The power mapping $x^{p^n-3}$ over $\mathbb{F}_{p^n}$ has desirable differential properties, and its differential spectra for $p=2,\,3$ have been determined. In this paper, for any odd prime $p$, by investigating certain quadratic character sums and some equations over $\mathbb{F}_{p^n}$, we determine the differential spectrum of $x^{p^n-3}$ with a unified approach. Abelian differentials and their periods: the bi-algebraic point of view

We study the transcendence of periods of abelian differentials, both at the arithmetic and functional level, from the point of view of the natural bi-algebraic structure on strata of abelian differentials. We characterise geometrically the arithmetic points, study their distribution, and prove that in many cases the bi-algebraic curves are the linear ones.

Uniformity of fibres of period mappings and the $S$-unit equation

In this paper we give a refinement of the method introduced by Lawrence and Venkatesh and thereby showing that their proof of Mordell's conjecture is uniform up to a uniform bound on the number of Galois representations attached to some family of abelian varieties. We are also able to give an unconditional proof of a uniform boundedness statement on the number of solutions to $S$-unit equations, which qualitatively is best possible, recovering a result of Evertse.
