Various concepts associated with quadratic algebras admit natural generalizations when the quadratic algebras are replaced by graded algebras which are finitely generated in degree 1 with homogeneous relations of degree N. Such algebras are referred to as {\sl homogeneous algebras of degree N}. In particular it is shown that the Koszul complexes of quadratic algebras generalize as N-complexes for homogeneous algebras of degree N.

Let $\A$ be a finitary hereditary abelian category with enough projectives. We study the Hall algebra of complexes of fixed size over projectives. Explicitly, we first give a relation between Hall algebras of complexes of fixed size and cyclic complexes. Secondly, we characterize the Hall algebra of complexes of fixed size by generators and relations, and relate it to the derived Hall algebra of $\A$. Finally, we give the integration map on the Hall algebra of $2$-term complexes over projectives.
It is known that the notion of graded differential algebra coincides with the notion of monoid in the monoidal category of complexes. By using the monoidal structure introduced by M. Kapranov for the category of $N$-complexes we define the corresponding generalization of graded differential algebras as the monoids of this category. Wilson where a new class of noncommutative algebras $Q_n$ was introduced. We study local theory of moduli schemes using the framework of the Ran space. With the help of the study of sheaves and complexes over the Ran space by Beilinson and Drinfeld in their theory of chiral algebras, we revisit Ran's works on the Jacobi complexes (the Chevalley complexes for sheaves of Lie algebras on the Ran space), the universal deformation rings of moduli problems, the higher Kodaira-Spencer maps, and construction of Hitchin-type flat connections. We give rigorous treatments in the algebraic setting, which seems to be new.

We study pre-Lie pairs, by which we mean a pair of a homotopy Lie algebra and a pre-Lie algebra with a compatible pre-Lie action. Such pairs provide a wealth of algebraic structure, which in particular can be used to analyze the homotopy Lie part of the pair. We set up a homological algebra for N-complexes, which are graded modules together with a degree -1 endomorphism d satisfying d^N=0. We define Tor- and Ext-groups for N-complexes and we compute them in terms of their classical counterparts (N=2). As an application, we get an alternative definition of the Hochschild homology of an associative algebra out of an N-complex whose differential is based on a primitive N-th root of unity.
