Para-Hopf algebroids and their cyclic cohomology

We introduce the concept of {\it para-Hopf algebroid} and define their cyclic cohomology in the spirit of Connes-Moscovici cyclic cohomology for Hopf algebras. Para-Hopf algebroids are closely related to, but different from, Hopf algebroids. Their definition is motivated by attempting to define a cyclic cohomology theory for Hopf algebroids in general. We show that many of Hopf algebraic structures, including the Connes-Moscovici algebra $\mathcal{H}_{FM}$, are para-Hopf algebroids.

The cyclic theory of Hopf algebroids

We give a systematic description of the cyclic cohomology theory of Hopf algebroids in terms of its associated category of modules. Then we introduce a dual cyclic homology theory by applying cyclic duality to the underlying cocyclic object. We derive general structure theorems for these theories in the special cases of commutative and cocommutative Hopf algebroids. Finally, we compute the cyclic theory in examples associated to Lie-Rinehart algebras and étale groupoids.

We apply categorical machinery to the problem of defining cyclic cohomology with coefficients in two particular cases, namely quasi-Hopf algebras and Hopf algebroids. Hopf cyclic cohomology and Hodge theory for proper actions

We introduce a Hopf algebroid associated to a proper Lie group action on a smooth manifold. We prove that the cyclic cohomology of this Hopf algebroid is equal to the de Rham cohomology of invariant differential forms. When the action is cocompact, we develop a generalized Hodge theory for the de Rham cohomology of invariant differential forms. Hopf algebroids and secondary characteristic classes

We study a Hopf algebroid, $\calh$, naturally associated to the groupoid $U_n^δ\ltimes U_n$. We show that classes in the Hopf cyclic cohomology of $\calh$ can be used to define secondary characteristic classes of trivialized flat $U_n$-bundles. For example, there is a cyclic class which corresponds to the universal transgressed Chern character and which gives rise to the continuous part of the $ρ$-invariant of Atiyah-Patodi-Singer. Morita base change in Hopf-cyclic (co)homology

In this paper, we establish the invariance of cyclic (co)homology of left Hopf algebroids under the change of Morita equivalent base algebras. The classical result on Morita invariance for cyclic homology of associative algebras appears as a special example of this theory. We define cyclic cohomology of corings over not necessarily commutative algebras. We observe that the key fact which allows us to define this complex is that enveloping algebra of an algebra is a para Hopf algebroid. On Cyclic Cohomology of x-Hopf algebras

In this paper we study the cyclic cohomology of certain x-Hopf algebras: universal enveloping algebras, quantum algebraic tori, the Connes-Moscovici x-Hopf algebroids and the Kadison bialgebroids. Introducing their stable anti Yetter-Drinfeld modules and cocyclic modules, we compute their cyclic cohomology. Furthermore, we provide a pairing for the cyclic cohomology of x-Hopf algebras which generalizes the Connes-Moscovici characteristic map to x-Hopf algebras. The Euler Characteristic Of A Transitive Lie Algebroid

We apply the Atiyah-Singer index theorem and tensor products of elliptic complexes to the cohomology of transitive Lie algebroids. We prove that the Euler characteristic of a representation of a transitive Lie algebroid $A$ over a compact manifold $M$ vanishes unless $A=TM$, and prove a general Künneth formula. The localized longitudinal index theorem for Lie groupoids and the van Est map

We define the "localized index" of longitudinal elliptic operators on Lie groupoids associated to Lie algebroid cohomology classes. We derive a topological expression for these numbers using the algebraic index theorem for Poisson manifolds on the dual of the Lie algebroid. Cyclic structures in algebraic (co)homology theories

This note discusses the cyclic cohomology of a left Hopf algebroid ($\times_A$-Hopf algebra) with coefficients in a right module-left comodule, defined using a straightforward generalisation of the original operators given by Connes and Moscovici for Hopf algebras. We show under what conditions the complex computing general Ext-groups carries the structure of a cyclic operad such that Ext becomes a Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra.
