We describe some general constructions on a real smooth projective 4-quadric which provide analogues of the Willmore functional and conformal Gauss map in both Lie sphere and projective differential geometry. Extrema of these functionals are characterized by harmonicity of this Gauss map.

Proper $r$-harmonic functions on the Thurston geometries

For any positive natural number $r\in\N^+$ we construct new explicit proper $r$-harmonic functions on the celebrated $3$-dimensional Thurston geometries $\Sol$, $\Nil$, $\SL2$, $\H^2\times\rn$ and $\s^2\times\rn$.

Harmonic Riemannian submersions from 3-dimensional geometries

In this paper, we study harmonic Riemannian submersions from 3-dimensional geometries using the ( generalized) integrability data associated to an orthonormal frame natural to a Riemannian submersion. We give complete classifications of harmonic Riemannian submersions from Thurston's 3-dimensional geometries, 3-dimensional BCV spaces and Berger sphere into a surface. We also give some explicit constructions of these harmonic Riemannian submersions.

Proper biharmonic maps and $(2,1)$-harmonic morphisms from some wild geometries

In this work we construct a variety of new complex-valued proper biharmonic maps and (2,1)-harmonic morphisms on Riemannian manifolds with non-trivial geometry. These are solutions to a non-linear system of partial differential equations depending on the geometric data of the manifolds involved.

Geometrical formality of solvmanifolds and solvable Lie type geometries

We show that for a Lie group $G=\R^{n}\ltimes_ϕ \R^{m}$ with a semisimple action $ϕ$ which has a cocompact discrete subgroup $Γ$, the solvmanifold $G/Γ$ admits a canonical invariant formal (i.e. all products of harmonic forms are again harmonic) metric. We show that a compact oriented aspherical manifold of dimension less than or equal to 4 with the virtually solvable fundamental group admits a formal metric if and only if it is diffeomorphic to a torus or an infra-solvmanifold which is not a nilmanifold.

Classification of 1st order symplectic spinor operators over contact projective geometries

We give a classification of $1^{st}$ order invariant differential operators acting between sections of certain bundles associated to Cartan geometries of the so called metaplectic contact projective type. These bundles are associated via representations, which are derived from the so called higher symplectic, harmonic or generalized Kostant spinor modules. Biharmonic maps into Sol and Nil spaces

In this paper, we study biharmonic maps into Sol and Nil spaces, two model spaces of Thurston's 3-dimensional geometries. We characterize non-geodesic biharmonic curves in Sol space and prove that there exists no non-geodesic biharmonic helix in Sol space. We also show that a linear map from a Euclidean space into Sol or Nil space is biharmonic if and only if it is a harmonic map, and give a complete classification of such maps.
