$L^p$ estimates for the biest II. The Fourier case

We prove L^p estimates for the "biest", a trilinear multiplier with singular symbol which arises naturally in the expansion of eigenfunctions of a Schrodinger operator, and which is also related to the bilinear Hilbert transform. In a previous paper these estimates were obtained for a simpler Walsh model for this operator, but in the Fourier case additional complications arise due to the inability to perfectly localize in both space and frequency.

We prove $L^p$ estimates for the Walsh model of the maximal bi-Carleson operator (which is a hybrid of the bilinear Hilbert transform and the Carleson maximal operator which appears naturally in the eigenfunction problem for one-dimensional Schrodinger operators). New uniform bounds for a Walsh model of the bilinear Hilbert transform

We prove old and new $L^p$ bounds for the quartile operator, a Walsh model of the bilinear Hilbert transform, uniformly in the parameter that models degeneration of the bilinear Hilbert transform. We obtain the full range of exponents that can be expected from known bounds in the degenerate and non-degenerate cases. For the new estimates with exponents p close to 1 the argument relies on a multi-frequency Calderon-Zygmund decomposition.

Variational bounds for a dyadic model of the bilinear Hilbert transform

We prove variation-norm estimates for the Walsh model of the truncated bilinear Hilbert transform, extending related results of Lacey, Thiele, and Demeter. The proof uses analysis on the Walsh phase plane and two new ingredients: (i) a variational extension of a lemma of Bourgain by Nazarov-Oberlin-Thiele, and (ii) a variation-norm Rademacher-Menshov theorem of Lewko-Lewko.

The Bi-Carleson operator

We prove $L^p$ estimates for the Bi-Carleson operator, which is a natural hybrid of the Carleson maximal operator and the bilinear Hilbert transform. The methods used are essentially based on the treatment of the Walsh analogue of the operator in the prequel of this paper, but with additional technicalities due to the fact that in the Fourier model one cannot obtain perfect localization in both space and frequency.

Modified logarithmic potential theory and applications

We develop potential theory including a Bernstein-Walsh type estimate for functions of the form $p(z)q(f(z))$ where $p,q$ are polynomials and $f$ is holomorphic. Such functions arise in the study of certain ensembles of probability measures and our estimates lead to probabilistic results such as large deviation principles.
