We consider birth-and-death processes of objects (animals) defined in ${\bf Z}^d$ having unit death rates and random birth rates. For animals with uniformly bounded diameter we establish conditions on the rate distribution under which the following holds for almost all realizations of the birth rates: (i) the process is ergodic with at worst power-law time mixing; (ii) the unique invariant measure has exponential decay of (spatial) correlations; (iii) there exists a perfect-simulation algorithm for the invariant measure. We consider families of discrete time birth and death chains on trees, and show that in presence of a drift towards the root of the tree, the chains exhibit cut-off behavior along the drift and escape behavior in the opposite direction.

Semigroup approach to birth-and-death stochastic dynamics in continuum

We describe a general approach to the construction of a state evolution corresponding to the Markov generator of a spatial birth-and-death dynamics in $\mathbb{R}^d$. We present conditions on the birth-and-death intensities which are sufficient for the existence of an evolution as a strongly continuous semigroup in a proper Banach space of correlation functions satisfying the Ruelle bound. The convergence of a Vlasov-type scaling for the corresponding stochastic dynamics is considered.

Solution formula for the general birth-death chemical diffusion master equation

These equations, proposed and formalized in the recent paper [5], aim at incorporating the spatial diffusion of molecules into the description provided by the classical chemical master equation. On an aggregation in birth-and-death stochastic dynamics

We consider birth and death stochastic dynamics of particle systems with attractive interaction. The heuristic generator of the dynamics has a constant birth rate and density dependent decreasing death rate. The corresponding statistical dynamics is constructed. Extended duality relations between birth-death processes and partial differential equations

Duality relations between continuous-state and discrete-state stochastic processes with continuous-time have already been studied and used in various research fields. We propose extended duality relations, which enable us to derive discrete-state stochastic processes from arbitrary diffusion-type partial differential equations. The derivation is based on the Doi-Peliti formalism and the algebraic probability theory, and it will be clarified that additional states for the discrete-state stochastic processes must be considered in some cases.

Modeling delay in genetic networks: From delay birth-death processes to delay stochastic differential equations

Delay is an important and ubiquitous aspect of many biochemical processes. For example, delay plays a central role in the dynamics of genetic regulatory networks as it stems from the sequential assembly of first mRNA and then protein.
