Representations of the $s\ell_q(2)$ algebra are constructed in the space of polynomials of real (complex) variable for $q^N=1$. The spin addition rule based on eigenvalues of Casimir operator is illustrated on few simplest cases and conjecture for general case is formulated.
We give a general construction of realizations of the contact superconformal algebras $K(2)$ and $\hat{K}'(4)$, and the exceptional superconformal algebra $CK_6$ as subsuperalgebras of matrices over a Weyl algebra of size $2^N\times 2^N$, where $N = 1, 2$ and $3$. We show that there is no such a realization for $K(2N)$, if $N\geq 4$.
For sp(n+2) and each exceptional Lie algebra a realization of depth 2 preserving the spaces spanned by a contact one-form and a bilinear form is given. For e_7 and e_6 a realization of depth 1 preserving a lightcone and the space spanned by a bilinear form is also presented. This makes the origin of the exceptions clear.
The free-field representations of the $D(2,1;\a)$ current superalgebra and the corresponding energy-momentum tensor are constructed. The related screening currents of the first kind are also presented.
The compact simply connected Riemannian 4-symmetric spaces were classified by J.A. Jim{é}nez. As homogeneous manifolds, these spaces are of the $G/H$, where $G$ is a connected compact simple Lie group with an automorphism $\tildeγ$ of oder 4 and $H$ is a fixed points subgroup $G^γ$ of $G$. In the present article, for the exceptional compact Lie group $G=E_8$, we give the explicit form of automorphism of order 4 induced by the $\boldsymbol{R}$-linear transformation $σ'_{4}$ and determine the structure of the group $(E_8)^{σ'_{4}}$. Thereby, we realize the globally exceptional Riemannian $4$-sym…
In this paper various representations of the exceptional Lie algebra G_2 are investigated in a purely algebraic manner, and multi-boson/multi-fermion realizations are obtained. Matrix elements of the master representation, which is defined on the space of the universal enveloping algebra of G_2, are explicitly determined. From this master representation, different indecomposable representations defined on invariant subspaces or quotient spaces with respect to these invariant subspaces are discussed. Especially, the elementary representations of G_2 are investigated in detail, and the correspon…
The exceptional Racah and q-Racah polynomials are constructed. Together with the exceptional Laguerre, Jacobi, Wilson and Askey-Wilson polynomials discovered by the present authors in 2009, they exhaust the generic exceptional orthogonal polynomials of a single variable.
Recently one of the authors obtained a classification of simple infinite-dimensional Lie superalgebras of vector fields which extends the well-known classification of E. Cartan in the Lie algebra case. The list consists of many series defined by simple equations, and of several exceptional superalgebras, among them E(3,6). In the article we study irreducible representations of the exceptional Lie superalgebra E(3,6). This superalgebra has s\ell(3)\times s\ell(2)\times g\ell(1) as the zero degree component of its consistent \ZZ-grading which leads us to believe that its representation theory ha…
The degeneracy of the lowest weight representations of the quantum superalgebra $osp_q(1|2)$ and their tensor products at exceptional values of %when deformation parameter $q$ takes exceptional values is studied. The main features of the structures of the finite dimensional lowest weight representations and their fusion rules are illustrated using realization of group generators as finite-difference operators acting in the space of the polynomials. The complete fusion rules for the decompositions of the tensor products at roots of unity are presented. The appearance of indecomposable represent…
The building blocks of 6d $(1,0)$ SCFTs include certain rank one theories with gauge group $G=SU(3),SO(8),F_4,E_{6,7,8}$. In this paper, we propose a universal recursion formula for the elliptic genera of all such theories. This formula is solved from the elliptic blowup equations introduced in our previous paper. We explicitly compute the elliptic genera and refined BPS invariants, which recover all previous results from topological string theory, modular bootstrap, Hilbert series, 2d quiver gauge theories and 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal $H_{G}$ theories. We also observe an intriguing r…
In this paper we construct two free field realizations of the elliptic affine Lie algebra sl(2,R) + Ω_R/dR, where R=C[t,t^{-1},u|u^2=t^3 - 2b t^2 + t]. The first realization gives an analogue of Wakimoto's construction for Affine Kac-Moody algebras, but in the setting of the elliptic affine Lie algebra. The second realization gives new type of representations analogous to Imaginary Verma modules in the Affine setting.
We present various results on the properties of the four infinite sets of the exceptional $X_{\ell}$ polynomials discovered recently by Odake and Sasaki [{\it Phys. Lett. B} {\bf 679} (2009), 414-417; {\it Phys. Lett. B} {\bf 684} (2010), 173-176]. These $X_{\ell}$ polynomials are global solutions of second order Fuchsian differential equations with $\ell+3$ regular singularities and their confluent limits. We derive equivalent but much simpler looking forms of the $X_{\ell}$ polynomials. The other subjects discussed in detail are: factorisation of the Fuchsian differential operators, shape in…
We present a new set of infinitely many shape invariant potentials and the corresponding exceptional (X_{\ell}) Laguerre polynomials. They are to supplement the recently derived two sets of infinitely many shape invariant thus exactly solvable potentials in one dimensional quantum mechanics and the corresponding X_{\ell} Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials (Odake and Sasaki, Phys. Lett. B679 (2009) 414-417). The new X_{\ell} Laguerre polynomials and the potentials are obtained by a simple limiting procedure from the known X_{\ell} Jacobi polynomials and the potentials, whereas the known X_{\ell} L…
Specific quantum phase transitions of our interest are assumed associated with the fall of a closed, unitary quantum system into its exceptional-point (EP) singularity. The physical realization of such a "quantum catastrophe" (connected, typically, with an instantaneous loss of the diagonalizability of the corresponding parameter-dependent Hamiltonian $H(g)$) depends, naturally, on the formal mathematical characteristics of the EP, i.e., in essence, on its so called algebraic multiplicity $N$ and geometric multiplicity $K$. In our paper we assume that both of them are finite, and we illustrate…
In this article we provide a detailed description of a technique to obtain a simple parametrization for different exceptional Lie groups, such as G2, F4 and E6, based on their fibration structure. For the compact case, we construct a realization which is a generalization of the Euler angles for SU(2), while for the non compact version of G2(2)/SO(4) we compute the Iwasawa decomposition. This allows us to obtain not only an explicit expression for the Haar measure on the group manifold, but also for the cosets G2/SO(4), G2/SU(3), F4/Spin(9), E6/F4 and G2(2)/SO(4) that we used to find the concre…
We present the minimal realization of the $\ell$-conformal Galilei group in 2+1 dimensions on a single complex field. The simplest Lagrangians yield the complex Pais-Uhlenbeck oscillator equations. We introduce a minimal deformation of the $\ell$=1/2 conformal Galilei (a.k.a. Schrödinger) algebra and construct the corresponding invariant actions. Based on a new realization of the d=1 conformal group, we find a massive extension of the near-horizon Kerr-dS/AdS metric.
Two sets of infinitely many exceptional orthogonal polynomials related to the Wilson and Askey-Wilson polynomials are presented. They are derived as the eigenfunctions of shape invariant and thus exactly solvable quantum mechanical Hamiltonians, which are deformations of those for the Wilson and Askey-Wilson polynomials in terms of a degree \ell (\ell=1,2,...) eigenpolynomial. These polynomials are exceptional in the sense that they start from degree \ell\ge1 and thus not constrained by any generalisation of Bochner's theorem.
By using the elliptic analogue of the Drinfeld currents in the elliptic algebra U_{q,p}(\hat{sl}_N), we construct a L-operator, which satisfies the RLL-relations characterizing the face type elliptic quantum group B_{q,λ}(\hat{sl}_N). For this purpose, we introduce a set of new currents K_j(v) (1\leq j\leq N) in U_{q,p}(\hat{sl}_N). As in the N=2 case, we find a structure of U_{q,p}(\hat{sl}_N) as a certain tensor product of B_{q,λ}(\hat{sl}_N) and a Heisenberg algebra. In the level-one representation, we give a free field realization of the currents in U_{q,p}(\hat{sl}_N). Using the coalgebra…
An interesting discovery in the last two years in the field of mathematical physics has been the exceptional $X_\ell$ Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials. Unlike the well-known classical orthogonal polynomials which start with constant terms, these new polynomials have the lowest degree $\ell=1,2,...$, and yet they form complete sets with respect to some positive-definite measure. In this paper, we study one important aspect of these new polynomials, namely, the behaviors of their zeros as some parameters of the Hamiltonians change.
It is conjectured that the exceptional-point (EP) singularity of a one-parametric quasi-Hermitian $N$ by $N$ matrix Hamiltonian $H(t)$ can play the role of a quantum phase-transition interface connecting different dynamical regimes of a unitary quantum system. Six realizations of the EP-mediated quantum phase transitions "of the third kind" are described in detail. Fairly realistic Bose-Hubbard (BH) and discrete anharmonic oscillator (AO) models of any matrix dimension $N$ are considered in the initial, intermediate, or final phase. In such a linear algebraic illustration of the changes of pha…
A realization of the elliptic quantum algebra $U_{q,p}(\widehat{sl_2})$ for any given level $k$ is constructed in terms of three free boson fields and their accompanying twisted partners. It can be viewed as the elliptic deformation of Wakimoto realization. Two screening currents are constructed; they commute or anti-commute with $U_{q,p}(\widehat{sl_2})$ modulo total q-differences. The free fields realization for two types vertex operators nominated as the type $I$ and the type $II$ vertex operators are presented. The twisted version of the two types vertex operators are also obtained. They a…
The realization of a genuine phase transition in quantum mechanics requires that at least one of the Kato's exceptional-point parameters becomes real. A new family of finite-dimensional and time-parametrized quantum-lattice models with such a property is proposed and studied. All of them exhibit, at a real exceptional-point time $t=0$, the Jordan-block spectral degeneracy structure of some of their observables sampled by Hamiltonian $H(t)$ and site-position $Q(t)$. The passes through the critical instant $t=0$ are interpreted as schematic simulations of non-equivalent versions of the Big-Bang-…
An interesting discovery in the last two years in the field of mathematical physics has been the exceptional $X_\ell$ Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials. Unlike the well-known classical orthogonal polynomials which start with constant terms, these new polynomials have lowest degree $\ell=1,2,...$, and yet they form complete set with respect to some positive-definite measure. While the mathematical properties of these new $X_\ell$ polynomials deserve further analysis, it is also of interest to see if they play any role in physical systems. In this paper we indicate some physical models in which th…
We present a new family of shape invariant potentials which could be called a ``continuous \ell version" of the potentials corresponding to the exceptional (X_{\ell}) J1 Jacobi polynomials constructed recently by the present authors. In a certain limit, it reduces to a continuous \ell family of shape invariant potentials related to the exceptional (X_{\ell}) L1 Laguerre polynomials. The latter was known as one example of the `conditionally exactly solvable potentials' on a half line.
We consider $\rm R$-matrix realization of the quantum deformations of the loop algebras $\tilde{\mathfrak{g}}$ corresponding to non-exceptional affine Lie algebras of type $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}=A^{(1)}_{N-1}$, $B^{(1)}_n$, $C^{(1)}_n$, $D^{(1)}_n$, $A^{(2)}_{N-1}$. For each $U_q(\tilde{\mathfrak{g}})$ we investigate the commutation relations between Gauss coordinates of the fundamental $\mathbb{L}$-operators using embedding of the smaller algebra into bigger one. The new realization of these algebras in terms of the currents is given. The relations between all off-diagonal Gauss coordinates and …
It has been recently discovered that exceptional families of Sturm-Liouville orthogonal polynomials exist, that generalize in some sense the classical polynomials of Hermite, Laguerre and Jacobi. In this paper we show how new families of exceptional orthogonal polynomials can be constructed by means of multiple-step algebraic Darboux transformations. The construction is illustrated with an example of a 2-step Darboux transformation of the classical Laguerre polynomials, which gives rise to a new orthogonal polynomial system indexed by two integer parameters. For particular values of these para…
We present free field realizations for the associated vertex operator algebras of a number of four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theories. Our constructions utilize an exceptionally small set of chiral bosons whose number matches the complex dimensionality of the Higgs branch of the superconformal field theory. In the case of theories whose Higgs branches support additional degrees of freedom (free vector multiplets or decoupled interacting SCFTs), the corresponding "free field realizations" include additional ingredients: symplectic fermions in the case of vector multiplets…
