We establish an exact relation between self-avoiding branched polymers in D+2 continuum dimensions and the hard-core continuum gas at negative activity in D dimensions. We review conjectures and results on critical exponents for D+2 = 2,3,4 and show that they are corollaries of our result. We explain the connection (first proposed by Parisi and Sourlas) between branched polymers in D+2 dimensions and the Yang-Lee edge singularity in D dimensions.

Dimensional Reduction and Crossover to Mean-Field Behavior for Branched Polymers

This article will review recent results on dimensional reduction for branched polymers, and discuss implications for critical phenomena. Parisi and Sourlas argued in 1981 that branched polymers fall into the universality class of the Yang-Lee edge in two fewer dimensions. Branched Polymers

Building on and from the work of Brydges and Imbrie, we give an elementary calculation of the volume of the space of branched polymers of order $n$ in the plane and in 3-space. Our development reveals some more general identities, and allows exact random sampling. In particular we show that a random 3-dimensional branched polymer of order $n$ has diameter of order $\sqrt{n}$.

Dimensional Reduction for Directed Branched Polymers

Dimensional reduction occurs when the critical behavior of one system can be related to that of another system in a lower dimension. We show that this occurs for directed branched polymers (DBP) by giving an exact relationship between DBP models in D+1 dimensions and repulsive gases at negative activity in D dimensions. This implies relations between exponents of the two models: $γ(D+1)=α(D)$ (the exponent describing the singularity of the pressure), and $ν_{\perp}(D+1)=ν(D)$ (the correlation length exponent of the repulsive gas). Melons are branched polymers

Melonic graphs constitute the family of graphs arising at leading order in the 1/N expansion of tensor models. They were shown to lead to a continuum phase, reminiscent of branched polymers. We show here that they are in fact precisely branched polymers, that is, they possess Hausdorff dimension 2 and spectral dimension 4/3.

Exact Scaling Functions for Self-Avoiding Loops and Branched Polymers

It is shown that a recently conjectured form for the critical scaling function for planar self-avoiding polygons weighted by their perimeter and area also follows from an exact renormalization group flow into the branched polymer problem, combined with the dimensional reduction arguments of Parisi and Sourlas. The result is generalized to higher-order multicritical points, yielding exact values for all their critical exponents and exact forms for the associated scaling functions.

Conformal Bootstrap Analysis for Single and Branched Polymers

The determinant method in the conformal bootstrap is applied for the critical phenomena of a single polymer in arbitrary $D$ dimensions. The scale dimensions (critical exponents) of the polymer ($2< D \le 4$) and the branched polymer ($3 < D \le 8$) are obtained from the small determinants. It is known that the dimensional reduction of the branched polymer in $D$ dimensions to Yang-Lee edge singularity in $D$-$2$ dimensions holds exactly. We examine this equivalence by the small determinant method.

Dimensional reduction for generalized continuum polymers

The Brydges-Imbrie dimensional reduction formula relates the pressure of a $d$-dimensional gas of hard spheres to a model of $(d+2)$-dimensional branched polymers. Brydges and Imbrie's proof was non-constructive and relied on a supersymmetric localization lemma.
