We present the first calculation of hadron production in deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) at finite transverse momentum to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in perturbative QCD. To overcome the long-standing challenge of infrared divergences in semi-inclusive processes with identified final state hadrons at finite transverse momentum, we implement the recently developed qT-subtraction framework based on the recoil-free jet definition. By utilizing the winner-take-all recombination scheme, we achieve a consistent factorization for hadron-jet associated production, enabling the inclusion of $O(α_s^3)$ corrections. Our NNLO results generally demonstrate an improved convergence of the perturbative expansion and a reduction in scale uncertainties compared to previous next-to-leading order ones, especially for comparisons to multiplicity data from the ZEUS Collaboration. This work provides a high-precision theoretical foundation for the upcoming electron-ion collider era and establishes a new benchmark for the exploration of the nucleon's three-dimensional structure.
We calculate, for the first time, the NNLO QCD corrections to identified heavy hadron production at hadron colliders. The calculation is based on a flexible numeric framework which allows the calculation of any distribution of a single identified heavy hadron plus jets and non-QCD particles. As a first application we provide NNLO QCD predictions for several differential distributions of $B$ hadrons in $t\bar t$ events at the LHC. Among others, these predictions are needed for the precise determination of the top quark mass. The extension of our results to other processes, like open or associat…
We present next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) QCD corrections to the production of three isolated photons in hadronic collisions at the fully differential level. We employ qT subtraction within MATRIX and an efficient implementation of analytic two-loop amplitudes in the leading-colour approximation to achieve the first on-the-fly calculation for this process at NNLO accuracy. Numerical results are presented for proton-proton collisions at energies ranging from 7 TeV to 100 TeV. We find full agreement with the 8 TeV results of arXiv:1911.00479 and confirm that NNLO corrections are indispensa…
The Standard Model prediction for muon-electron scattering beyond leading order requires the inclusion of QCD contributions which cannot be computed perturbatively. At next-to- and next-to-next-to-leading order, they arise from one- and two-loop diagrams with hadronic vacuum polarization insertions in the photon propagator. We present their evaluation using the dispersive approach with hadronic $e^+e^-$ annihilation data and estimate their uncertainty. We find that these corrections are crucial for the analysis of future high-precision muon-electron scattering data, like those of the recently …
We report on the first fully differential calculation of the next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) QCD radiative corrections to the production of bottom-quark pairs at hadron colliders. The calculation is performed by using the $q_T$ subtraction formalism to handle and cancel infrared singularities in real and virtual contributions. The computation is implemented in the Matrix framework, thereby allowing us to efficiently compute arbitrary infrared-safe observables in the four-flavour scheme. We present selected predictions for bottom-quark production at the Tevatron and at the LHC at different…
We consider the MiNNLO$_{\rm PS}$ method to consistently combine next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD calculations with parton-shower simulations. We identify the main sources of differences between MiNNLO$_{\rm PS}$ and fixed-order NNLO predictions for inclusive observables due to corrections beyond NNLO accuracy and present simple prescriptions to either reduce or remove them. Refined predictions are presented for Higgs, charged- and neutral-current Drell Yan production. The agreement with fixed-order NNLO calculations is considerably improved for inclusive observables and scale uncertai…
We present a parton-shower matched NNLO QCD calculation for hadronic final state production in Deep Inelastic Scattering. The computation is based on the UNLOPS method and is implemented in the publicly available event generation framework SHERPA. Results are compared to measurements performed by the H1 collaboration.
NNLO corrections to top pair production at hadron colliders: the quark-gluon reaction
The inclusive cross sections of W$^+$, W$^-$, and Z boson production from 34 different measurements performed in proton-(anti)proton collisions at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ = 1.8--13 TeV, are compared to perturbative QCD calculations at next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) accuracy with four sets of parton distributions functions (CT14, HERAPDF2.0, MMHT14, and NNPDF3.0 PDFs) and varying values of the strong coupling constant at the Z mass pole, $α_s(m_Z)$. The data-theory agreement is good within the experimental and theoretical uncertainties, with the CT14 and MMHT14 parton densities…
We extend the antenna subtraction method to include hadron fragmentation processes up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in QCD in $e^+e^-$ collisions. To handle collinear singularities associated with the fragmentation process, we introduce fragmentation antenna functions in final-final kinematics with associated phase space mappings. These antenna functions are integrated over the relevant phase spaces, retaining their dependence on the momentum fraction of the fragmenting parton. The integrated antenna functions are cross-checked against the known NNLO coefficient functions for identif…
The current paper presents a determination of $K^0_S$ and $Λ/\barΛ$ fragmentation functions (FFs) from QCD analysis of single-inclusive electron-positron annihilation process (SIA). Our FFs determinations are performed at next-to-leading order (NLO), and for the first time, at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) accuracy in perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics (pQCD) which is designated as {\tt SAK20} FFs. Each of these FFs is accompanied by their uncertainties which are determined using the `Hessian' method. Considering the hadron mass corrections, we clearly investigate the reliability of ou…
NNLO Vertex Corrections in charmless hadronic B decays: Imaginary part
We construct a resummation at partial next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy for hadronic top-quark pair production near partonic threshold, including simultaneously soft-gluon and Coulomb corrections, and use this result to obtain approximate next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order predictions for the total top-quark pair-production cross section at the LHC. We generalize a required one-loop potential in non-relativistic QCD to the colour-octet case and estimate the remaining unknown two-loop potentials and three-loop anomalous dimensions. We obtain a moderate correction of $1.5\%…
In this work we analyse the triple Higgs boson production cross section at hadron colliders via gluon fusion, and present for the first time the full set of QCD NNLO corrections in the heavy top limit. In order to account for finite top mass effects we perform two different reweighting procedures, and study the dependence of the result on the choice of the approximation. Combining the most accurate predictions available to date, we present the following result for the total NNLO cross section for triple Higgs boson production at a 100 TeV collider: $σ_\text{NNLO}=5.56^{+5\%}_{-6\%} \pm 20\%$ f…
We present a novel method to combine QCD calculations at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) with parton shower (PS) simulations, that can be applied to the production of heavy systems in hadronic collisions, such as colour singlets or a $t\bar{t}$ pair. The NNLO corrections are included by connecting the MiNLO$^\prime$ method with transverse-momentum resummation, and they are calculated at generation time without any additional reweighting, making the algorithm considerably efficient. Moreover, the combination of different jet multiplicities does not require any unphysical merging scale, and…
