Large-scale text-to-image diffusion models, (e.g., DALL-E, SDXL) are capable of generating famous persons by simply referring to their names. Is it possible to make such models generate generic identities as simple as the famous ones, e.g., just use a name? In this paper, we explore the existence of a "Name Space", where any point in the space corresponds to a specific identity. Fortunately, we find some clues in the feature space spanned by text embedding of celebrities' names. Specifically, we first extract the embeddings of celebrities' names in the Laion5B dataset with the text encoder of diffusion models. Such embeddings are used as supervision to learn an encoder that can predict the name (actually an embedding) of a given face image. We experimentally find that such name embeddings work well in promising the generated image with good identity consistency. Note that like the names of celebrities, our predicted name embeddings are disentangled from the semantics of text inputs, making the original generation capability of text-to-image models well-preserved. Moreover, by simply plugging such name embeddings, all variants (e.g., from Civitai) derived from the same base model (i.e., SDXL) readily become identity-aware text-to-image models. We propose a new challenging task namely IDentity Stylization (IDS) across heterogeneous domains. IDS focuses on stylizing the content identity, rather than completely swapping it using the reference identity. We use an effective heterogeneous-network-based framework $Styleverse$ that uses a single domain-aware generator to exploit the Metaverse of diverse heterogeneous faces, based on the proposed dataset FS13 with limited data. FS13 means 13 kinds of Face Styles considering diverse lighting conditions, art representations and life dimensions. Previous similar tasks, \eg, image style transfer…

This work addresses the problem of anonymizing the identity of faces in a dataset of images, such that the privacy of those depicted is not violated, while at the same time the dataset is useful for downstream task such as for training machine learning models. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to explicitly address this issue and deal with two major drawbacks of the existing state-of-the-art approaches, namely that they (i) require the costly training of additional, purpose-trained neural networks, and/or (ii) fail to retain the facial attributes of the original images in the anon…

Age synthesis methods typically take a single image as input and use a specific number to control the age of the generated image. In this paper, we propose a novel framework taking two images as inputs, named dual-reference age synthesis (DRAS), which approaches the task differently; instead of using "hard" age information, i.e. a fixed number, our model determines the target age in a "soft" way, by employing a second reference image. Specifically, the proposed framework consists of an identity agent, an age agent and a generative adversarial network. It takes two images as input - an identity…

Current face recognition systems robustly recognize identities across a wide variety of imaging conditions. In these systems recognition is performed via classification into known identities obtained from supervised identity annotations. There are two problems with this current paradigm: (1) current systems are unable to benefit from unlabelled data which may be available in large quantities; and (2) current systems equate successful recognition with labelling a given input image. Humans, on the other hand, regularly perform identification of individuals completely unsupervised, recognising th…

Currently, most existing person re-identification methods use Instance-Level features, which are extracted only from a single image. However, these Instance-Level features can easily ignore the discriminative information due to the appearance of each identity varies greatly in different images. Thus, it is necessary to exploit Identity-Level features, which can be shared across different images of each identity. In this paper, we propose to promote Instance-Level features to Identity-Level features by employing cross-attention to incorporate information from one image to another of the same id…

This paper presents a novel multi-identity face reenactment framework, named FReeNet, to transfer facial expressions from an arbitrary source face to a target face with a shared model. The proposed FReeNet consists of two parts: Unified Landmark Converter (ULC) and Geometry-aware Generator (GAG). The ULC adopts an encode-decoder architecture to efficiently convert expression in a latent landmark space, which significantly narrows the gap of the face contour between source and target identities. The GAG leverages the converted landmark to reenact the photorealistic image with a reference image …
Recently privacy concerns of person re-identification (ReID) raise more and more attention and preserving the privacy of the pedestrian images used by ReID methods become essential. De-identification (DeID) methods alleviate privacy issues by removing the identity-related of the ReID data. However, most of the existing DeID methods tend to remove all personal identity-related information and compromise the usability of de-identified data on the ReID task. In this paper, we aim to develop a technique that can achieve a good trade-off between privacy protection and data usability for person ReID…

Person re-identification is to retrieval pedestrian images from no-overlap camera views detected by pedestrian detectors. Most existing person re-identification (re-ID) models often fail to generalize well from the source domain where the models are trained to a new target domain without labels, because of the bias between the source and target domain. This issue significantly limits the scalability and usability of the models in the real world. Providing a labeled source training set and an unlabeled target training set, the aim of this paper is to improve the generalization ability of re-ID …

Various factors, such as identities, views (poses), and illuminations, are coupled in face images. Disentangling the identity and view representations is a major challenge in face recognition. Existing face recognition systems either use handcrafted features or learn features discriminatively to improve recognition accuracy. This is different from the behavior of human brain. Intriguingly, even without accessing 3D data, human not only can recognize face identity, but can also imagine face images of a person under different viewpoints given a single 2D image, making face perception in the brai…

Heterogeneous Face Recognition (HFR) aims to match faces across different domains (e.g., visible to near-infrared images), which has been widely applied in authentication and forensics scenarios. However, HFR is a challenging problem because of the large cross-domain discrepancy, limited heterogeneous data pairs, and large variation of facial attributes. To address these challenges, we propose a new HFR method from the perspective of heterogeneous data augmentation, named Face Synthesis with Identity-Attribute Disentanglement (FSIAD). Firstly, the identity-attribute disentanglement (IAD) decou…

Face super-resolution (SR) has become an indispensable function in security solutions such as video surveillance and identification system, but the distortion in facial components is a great challenge in it. Most state-of-the-art methods have utilized facial priors with deep neural networks. These methods require extra labels, longer training time, and larger computation memory. In this paper, we propose a novel Edge and Identity Preserving Network for Face SR Network, named as EIPNet, to minimize the distortion by utilizing a lightweight edge block and identity information. We present an edge…
