Driven by practical demands in land resource monitoring and national defense security, this paper introduces the Remote Sensing Copy-Move Question Answering (RSCMQA) task. Unlike traditional Remote Sensing Visual Question Answering (RSVQA), RSCMQA focuses on interpreting complex tampering scenarios and inferring relationships between objects. We present a suite of global RSCMQA datasets, comprising images from 29 different regions across 14 countries. Specifically, we propose five distinct datasets, including the basic dataset RS-CMQA, the category-balanced dataset RS-CMQA-B, the high-authenticity dataset Real-RSCM, the extended dataset RS-TQA, and the extended category-balanced dataset RS-TQA-B. These datasets fill a critical gap in the field while ensuring comprehensiveness, balance, and challenging scenarios. Furthermore, we introduce a region-discrimination-guided multimodal copy-move forgery perception framework (CMFPF), which enhances the accuracy of answering questions about tampered images by leveraging prompts about the differences and connections between the source and tampered regions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method establishes a stronger benchmark for RSCMQA compared to general VQA and RSVQA models. Our datasets and code are publicly available at https://github.com/shenyedepisa/RSCMQA.

In this paper, a copy-move forgery detection method based on Convolutional Kernel Network is proposed. Different from methods based on conventional hand-crafted features, Convolutional Kernel Network is a kind of data-driven local descriptor with the deep convolutional structure. Thanks to the development of deep learning theories and widely available datasets, the data-driven methods can achieve competitive performance on different conditions for its excellent discriminative capability. Besides, our Convolutional Kernel Network is reformulated as a series of matrix computations and convolutio…

The importance and relevance of digital image forensics has attracted researchers to establish different techniques for creating as well as detecting forgeries. The core category in passive image forgery is copy-move image forgery that affects the originality of image by applying a different transformation. In this paper frequency domain image manipulation method is being presented. The method exploits the localized nature of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) to get hold of the region of the host image to be manipulated. Both the patch and host image are subjected to DWT at the same level $l$ to…
In the current era, image manipulation is becoming increasingly easier, yielding more natural looking images, owing to the modern tools in image processing and computer vision techniques. The task of the segregation of forged images has become very challenging. To tackle such problems, publicly available datasets are insufficient. In this paper, we propose to create a synthetic forged dataset using deep semantic image inpainting algorithm. Furthermore, we use an unsupervised domain adaptation network to detect copy-move forgery in images. Our approach can be helpful in those cases, where the c…

Copy move forgery detection in digital images has become a very popular research topic in the area of image forensics. Due to the availability of sophisticated image editing tools and ever increasing hardware capabilities, it has become an easy task to manipulate the digital images. Passive forgery detection techniques are more relevant as they can be applied without the prior information about the image in question. Block based techniques are used to detect copy move forgery, but have limitations of large time complexity and sensitivity against affine operations like rotation and scaling. Key…
Detecting reliably copy-move forgeries is difficult because images do contain similar objects. The question is: how to discard natural image self-similarities while still detecting copy-moved parts as being "unnaturally similar"? Copy-move may have been performed after a rotation, a change of scale and followed by JPEG compression or the addition of noise. For this reason, we base our method on SIFT, which provides sparse keypoints with scale, rotation and illumination invariant descriptors. To discriminate natural descriptor matches from artificial ones, we introduce an a contrario method whi…

Anti-counterfeiting QR codes are widely used in people's work and life, especially in product packaging. However, the anti-counterfeiting QR code has the risk of being copied and forged in the circulation process. In reality, copying is usually based on genuine anti-counterfeiting QR codes, but the brands and models of copiers are diverse, and it is extremely difficult to determine which individual copier the forged anti-counterfeiting code come from. In response to the above problems, this paper proposes a method for copy forgery identification of anti-counterfeiting QR code based on deep lea…
The aim of this paper is to improve the accuracy of copy-move forgery detection (CMFD) in image forensics by proposing a novel scheme and the main contribution is evolving circular domains coverage (ECDC) algorithm. The proposed scheme integrates both block-based and keypoint-based forgery detection methods. Firstly, the speed-up robust feature (SURF) in log-polar space and the scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) are extracted from an entire image. Secondly, generalized 2 nearest neighbor (g2NN) is employed to get massive matched pairs. Then, random sample consensus (RANSAC) algorithm is …
With the increase in interchange of data, there is a growing necessity of security. Considering the volumes of digital data that is transmitted, they are in need to be secure. Among the many forms of tampering possible, one widespread technique is Copy Move Forgery CMF. This forgery occurs when parts of the image are copied and duplicated elsewhere in the same image. There exist a number of algorithms to detect such a forgery in which the primary step involved is feature extraction. The feature extraction techniques employed must have lesser time and space complexity involved for an efficient …

Copy-move forgery detection identifies a tampered image by detecting pasted and source regions in the same image. In this paper, we propose a novel two-stage framework specially for copy-move forgery detection. The first stage is a backbone self deep matching network, and the second stage is named as Proposal SuperGlue. In the first stage, atrous convolution and skip matching are incorporated to enrich spatial information and leverage hierarchical features. Spatial attention is built on self-correlation to reinforce the ability to find appearance similar regions. In the second stage, Proposal …

Copy-move forgery is a manipulation of copying and pasting specific patches from and to an image, with potentially illegal or unethical uses. Recent advances in the forensic methods for copy-move forgery have shown increasing success in detection accuracy and robustness. However, for images with high self-similarity or strong signal corruption, the existing algorithms often exhibit inefficient processes and unreliable results. This is mainly due to the inherent semantic gap between low-level visual representation and high-level semantic concept. In this paper, we present a very first study of …
A copy-move forgery is created by copying and pasting content within the same image, and potentially post-processing it. In recent years, the detection of copy-move forgeries has become one of the most actively researched topics in blind image forensics. A considerable number of different algorithms have been proposed focusing on different types of postprocessed copies. In this paper, we aim to answer which copy-move forgery detection algorithms and processing steps (e.g., matching, filtering, outlier detection, affine transformation estimation) perform best in various postprocessing scenarios…

Since images are used as evidence in many cases, validation of digital images is essential. Copy-move forgery is a special kind of manipulation in which some parts of an image is copied and pasted into another part of the same image. Various methods have been proposed to detect copy-move forgery, which have achieved promising results. In previous methods, a binary mask determining the original and forged region is presented as the final result. However, it is not specified which part of the mask is the forged region. It should be noted that discriminating the original region from the duplicate…
In this contemporary world digital media such as videos and images behave as an active medium to carry valuable information across the globe on all fronts. However there are several techniques evolved to tamper the image which has made their authenticity untrustworthy. CopyMove Forgery CMF is one of the most common forgeries present in an image where a cluster of pixels are duplicated in the same image with potential postprocessing techniques. Various state-of-art techniques are developed in the recent years which are effective in detecting passive image forgery. However most methods do fail w…

Realistic image forgeries involve a combination of splicing, resampling, cloning, region removal and other methods. While resampling detection algorithms are effective in detecting splicing and resampling, copy-move detection algorithms excel in detecting cloning and region removal. In this paper, we combine these complementary approaches in a way that boosts the overall accuracy of image manipulation detection. We use the copy-move detection method as a pre-filtering step and pass those images that are classified as untampered to a deep learning based resampling detection framework. Experimen…

With rapid advances in digital information processing systems, and more specifically in digital image processing software, there is a widespread development of advanced tools and techniques for digital image forgery. One of the techniques most commonly used is the Copy-move forgery which proceeds by copying a part of an image and pasting it into the same image, in order to maliciously hide an object or a region. In this paper, we propose a method to detect this specific kind of counterfeit. Firstly, the color image is converted from RGB color space to YCbCr color space and then the R, G, B and…

Detecting these tampered images is an important task and one we try to tackle. In this paper, we focus on the methods to detect if an image has been tampered with using both Deep Learning and Image transformation methods and comparing the performances and robustness of each method. We then attempt to identify the tampered area of the image and predict the corresponding mask. Bas…

Dense local descriptors and machine learning have been used with success in several applications, like classification of textures, steganalysis, and forgery detection. We develop a new image forgery detector building upon some descriptors recently proposed in the steganalysis field suitably merging some of such descriptors, and optimizing a SVM classifier on the available training set. Despite the very good performance, very small forgeries are hardly ever detected because they contribute very little to the descriptors. Therefore we also develop a simple, but extremely specific, copy-move dete…

With the emergence of GAN, face forgery technologies have been heavily abused. Achieving accurate face forgery detection is imminent. Inspired by remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) that PPG signal corresponds to the periodic change of skin color caused by heartbeat in face videos, we observe that despite the inevitable loss of PPG signal during the forgery process, there is still a mixture of PPG signals in the forgery video with a unique rhythmic pattern depending on its generation method. Motivated by this key observation, we propose a framework for face forgery detection and categorization …
In this work, we present a learning based method focusing on the convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture to detect these forgeries. We consider the detection of both copy-move forgeries and inpainting based forgeries. For these, we synthesize our own large dataset. In addition to classification, the focus is also on interpretability of the forgery detection. As the CNN classification yields the image-level label, it is important to understand if forged region has indeed contributed to the classification. For this purpose, we demonstrate using the Grad-CAM heatmap, that in various corre…

Digital watermarking has been widely used to protect the copyright and integrity of multimedia data. Previous studies mainly focus on designing watermarking techniques that are robust to attacks of destroying the embedded watermarks. However, the emerging deep learning based image generation technology raises new open issues that whether it is possible to generate fake watermarked images for circumvention. In this paper, we make the first attempt to develop digital image watermark fakers by using generative adversarial learning. Suppose that a set of paired images of original and watermarked i…

We propose a method to identify the source and target regions of a copy-move forgery so allow a correct localisation of the tampered area. First, we cast the problem into a hypothesis testing framework whose goal is to decide which region between the two nearly-duplicate regions detected by a generic copy-move detector is the original one. Then we design a multi-branch CNN architecture that solves the hypothesis testing problem by learning a set of features capable to reveal the presence of interpolation artefacts and boundary inconsistencies in the copy-moved area. The proposed architecture, …

Image copy detection is challenging and appealing topic in computer vision and signal processing. Recent advancements in multimedia have made distribution of image across the global easy and fast: that leads to many other issues such as forgery and image copy retrieval. Local keypoint descriptors such as SIFT are used to represent the images, and based on those descriptors matching, images are matched and retrieved. Features are quantized so that searching/matching may be made feasible for large databases at the cost of accuracy loss. In this paper, we propose binary feature that is obtained b…

Cutting-edge diffusion models produce images with high quality and customizability, enabling them to be used for commercial art and graphic design purposes. But do diffusion models create unique works of art, or are they replicating content directly from their training sets? In this work, we study image retrieval frameworks that enable us to compare generated images with training samples and detect when content has been replicated. Applying our frameworks to diffusion models trained on multiple datasets including Oxford flowers, Celeb-A, ImageNet, and LAION, we discuss how factors such as trai…

In spite of remarkable success of the convolutional neural networks on semantic segmentation, they suffer from catastrophic forgetting: a significant performance drop for the already learned classes when new classes are added on the data, having no annotations for the old classes. We propose an incremental learning methodology, enabling to learn segmenting new classes without hindering dense labeling abilities for the previous classes, although the entire previous data are not accessible. The key points of the proposed approach are adapting the network to learn new as well as old classes on th…
