Motivated by the possible 95 GeV diphoton excess, we investigate the capability of the Type-I Two-Higgs-Doublet Model (2HDM-I) to explain this signal under current theoretical and experimental constraints. Using full Monte Carlo (MC) simulations for the process of $pp \to t(\to W^+ b)\bar{t}(\to W^- \bar{b})h(\to γγ)$, we evaluate the discovery potential of a 95 GeV Higgs boson at future colliders. Direct Higgs searches strongly constrain the parameter $α$, excluding the region with $α\lesssim 0.95$. Monte Carlo results indicate that a minimum cross section of 0.3 fb is required to achieve a $5σ$ signal statistical significance at the HL-LHC with $L = 3~\mathrm{ab}^{-1}$. For the same luminosity, HE-LHC and FCC-hh require 0.67 fb and 2.36 fb, respectively. At the 14 TeV HL-LHC with an integrated luminosity of $3~\mathrm{ab}^{-1}$, parameter regions with $\sin(β-α) \gtrsim 0.4$ and $\sin(β-α) \gtrsim 0.25$ can be probed at the $5σ$ and $2σ$ significance levels, respectively. At the 27 TeV HE-LHC with $L = 10~\mathrm{ab}^{-1}$, the sensitivity improves to $\sin(β-α) \gtrsim 0.25$ ($5σ$) and $\gtrsim 0.15$ ($2σ$). For the 100 TeV FCC-hh with $L = 30~\mathrm{ab}^{-1}$, even regions with $\sin(β-α) \gtrsim 0.1$ or $\sin(β-α) \lesssim -0.05$ can be covered at the $5σ$ level. Parameter regions near $\sin(β-α) \approx 0$ remain challenging to probe in the diphoton channel, even with increased energy or luminosity.
A radion in a scenario with a warped extra dimension can be lighter than the Higgs boson, even if the Kaluza-Klein excitation modes of the graviton turn out to be in the multi-TeV region. The discovery of such a light radion would be gateway to new physics. We show how the two-photon mode of decay can enable us to probe a radion in the mass range 60 - 110 GeV. We take into account the diphoton background, including fragmentation effects, and include cuts designed to suppress the background to the maximum possible extent. Our conclusion is that, with an integrated luminosity of 3000 $\rm fb^{-1…
The sensitivities to anomalous quartic photon couplings at the Large Hadron Collider are estimated using diphoton production via photon fusion. The tagging of the protons proves to be a very powerful tool to suppress the background and unprecedented sensitivities down to $6 \cdot 10^{-15}$\gev$^{-4}$ are obtained, providing a new window on extra dimensions and strongly-interacting composite states in the multi-TeV range. Generic contributions to quartic photon couplings from charged and neutral particles with arbitrary spin are also presented.
The recently reported diphoton excess at the LHC may imply the existence of a new resonance with a mass of about 750 GeV which couples to photons via loops of new charged particles. In this letter, we study the possibility to test such models at the ILC, paying attention to the new charged particles responsible for the diphoton decay of the resonance. We show that they affect the scattering processes $e^+e^- \to f\bar{f}$ (with $f$ denoting Standard Model fermions) at the ILC, which makes it possible to indirectly probe the new charged particles even if they are out of the kinematical reach. W…
We compute the one-loop corrections to $σ(e^+ e^- \to Z h)$ arising from representative extended Standard Model scalar sector scenarios. According to the new scalar $\mathrm{SU(2)_L}$ representations, we consider the inert doublet, real and complex triplet, quintuplet, and septuplet models. With the sub-percent level precision expected for prospective future $e+e-$ collider measurements of $σ(e^+ e^- \to Z h)$, studies of the Higgsstrahlung process will probe extended scalar sector particle spectrum and interactions in a manner complementary to direct searches at the Large Hadron Collider and …
We investigate the Higgs boson production through gluon fusion and its decay into two photons at the LHC in the context of the minimal 3-3-1 model and its alternative version with exotic leptons. The diphoton Higgs decay channel presents an enhanced signal in this model compared to the Standard Model due to the presence of an extra singly charged vector boson and a doubly charged one. Prospects for the Higgs boson detection at 7 TeV center-of-mass energy with up to 10 fb$^{-1}$ are presented. Our results suggest that a Higgs boson from these 3-3-1 models can potentially explain the small exces…
Numerous experiments currently underway offer the potential to indirectly probe new charged particles with masses at the weak scale. For example, the tentative excess in Higgs diphoton decay and the tentative gamma-ray line in Fermi-LAT data have recently attracted attention as possible one-loop signatures of new charged particles. We explore the interplay between such signals, dark matter direct detection through Higgs exchange, and measurements of the electron EDM, by studying the size of these effects in several models. We compute one-loop effects to explore the relationship among couplings…
In a supersymmetry model with an axino as the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) and a Bino as the next LSP (NLSP), supersymmetry particles produced in pair at a high energy collider end up with including two Binos, followed by each Bino's decay into a photon and an axino. Final states are diphoton with large missing energy. We have comprehensively studied the implication of $γγ+$MET data from the ALEPH, CDF II, and recent ATLAS and CMS experiments. No excess over the standard model backgrounds can be explained in this model if the NLSP Bino decays outside the detector, which happens when …
Diphoton resonance was a crucial discovery mode for the 125 GeV SM Higgs boson at the LHC. This mode or the more general diboson modes may also play an important role in probing for new physics beyond the SM. In this paper, we consider the possibility that a diphoton resonance is due to a composite (pseudo)scalar boson, whose constituents are either new hyperquarks Q or scalar hyperquarks tilde{Q} confined by a new hypercolor force at a confinement scale Lambda_h. Assuming the mass m_Q (or m_{tilde Q}) >> Lambda_h, a diphoton resonance could be interpreted as either a Q bar{Q} state eta_Q with…
Virtual effects of gravitons in the production of diphotons at the upgraded Tevatron and at the LHC are analysed with the idea of probing the parameter space of the Randall-Sundrum (RS) model. It is shown that this process yields stringent constraints on the parameter space of the RS model. We show that data on diphoton production from Tevatron Run II will be sensitive to a masses of the first graviton resonance in the range of 700-1150 GeV, while at LHC the mass range probed will be in the region of 3.5 -- 5.5 TeV.
Using the left-right symmetric model as an illustrative example, we suggest a simple and straightforward way of constraining the $W'$ mass directly from the decay of the Higgs boson to two photons. The proposed method is generic and applicable to a diverse range of models with a $W'$-boson that couples to the SM-like Higgs boson. Our analysis exemplifies how the precision measurement of the Higgs to diphoton signal strength can have a pivotal role in probing the scale of new physics.
We consider photon pair production in hadronic collisions at large mass and small transverse momentum of the pair, assuming that factorization in terms of transverse momentum dependent parton distributions applies. The unpolarized cross section is found to have azimuthal angular dependencies that are generated by a gluonic version of the Boer-Mulders function. In addition, the single-transversely polarized cross section is sensitive to the gluon Sivers function. We present simple numerical estimates for the Boer-Mulders and Sivers effects in diphoton production at RHIC and find that the proces…
The newly discovered resonance at 125 GeV has properties consistent with the Standard Model (SM) Higgs particle, although some production and/or decay channels currently exhibit O(1) deviations. We consider scenarios with a new scalar singlet field with couplings to electrically charged vector-like matter, focusing particularly on the case when the singlet mass lies within a narrow ~ few GeV window around the Higgs mass. Such a `singlet neighbor' presents novel mechanisms for modifying the observed properties of the Higgs boson. For instance, even a small amount of the Higgs-singlet mixing can…
We perform a comprehensive study of The Higgs potential of the two Higgs doublet model extended by a real triplet scalar field $Δ$. This model, dubbed $2\mathcal{HDM+T}$, has a rich Higgs spectrum consisting of three CP-even Higgs $h_{1,2,3}$, one CP-odd $A_0$ and two pairs of charged Higgs $H^\pm_{1,2}$. First, we determine the perturbative unitarity constraints and a set of non trivial conditions for the boundedness from below (BFB). Then we derive the Veltman conditions by considering the quadratic divergencies of Higgs boson self energies in $2\mathcal{HDM+T}$. We find that the parameter s…
We consider the Higgs-radion mixing in the context of warped space extra dimensional models with custodial symmetry and investigate the prospects of detecting the mixed radion. Custodial symmetries allow the Kaluza-Klein excitations to be lighter, and protect Zbb to be in agreement with experimental constraints. We perform a complementary study of discovery reaches of the Higgs-radion mixed state at the 13 and 14 TeV LHC and at the 500 and 1000 GeV ILC. We carry out a comprehensive analysis of the most significant production and decay modes of the mixed radion in the 80 GeV - 1 TeV mass range,…
If pairs of new colored particles are produced at the Large Hadron Collider, determining their quantum numbers, and even discovering them, can be non-trivial. We suggest that valuable information can be obtained by measuring the resonant signals of their near-threshold QCD bound states. If the particles are charged, the resulting signatures include photons and leptons and are sufficiently rich for unambiguously determining their various quantum numbers, including the charge, color representation and spin, and obtaining a precise mass measurement. These signals provide well-motivated benchmark …
We study Higgs diphoton decays, in which both photons undergo nuclear conversion to electron- positron pairs. The kinematic distribution of the two electron-positron pairs may be used to probe the CP violating (CPV) coupling of the Higgs to photons, that may be produced by new physics. Detecting CPV in this manner requires interference between the spin-polarized helicity amplitudes for both conversions. We derive leading order, analytic forms for these amplitudes. In turn, we obtain compact, leading-order expressions for the full process rate. While performing experiments involving photon conv…
The diphoton channel at lepton colliders, $e^+e^- (μ^+μ^-) \to γγ$, has a remarkable feature that the leading new physics contribution comes only from dimension-eight operators. This contribution is subject to a set of positivity bounds, derived from the fundamental principles of Quantum Field Theory, such as unitarity, locality, analyticity and Lorentz invariance. These positivity bounds are thus applicable to the most direct observable -- the diphoton cross section. This unique feature provides a clear, robust, and unambiguous test of these principles. We estimate the capability of various f…
We perform a feasibility study to search for axion-like particles (ALPs) using vector boson fusion (VBF) processes at the LHC. We work in an effective field theory framework with cutoff scale $Λ$ and ALP mass $m_{a}$, and assume that ALPs couple to photons with strength $\propto 1/Λ$. Assuming proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV, we present the total VBF ALP production cross sections, ALP decay widths and lifetimes, and relevant kinematic distributions as a function of $m_{a}$ and $Λ$. We consider the $a\toγγ$ decay mode to show that the requirement of an energetic diphoton pair co…

In this paper, we investigate the Higgs Triplet Model with hypercharge $Y_Δ=0$ (HTM0), an extension of the Standard model, caracterised by a more involved scalar spectrum consisting of two CP even Higgs $h^0, H^0$ and two charged Higgs bosons $H^\pm$. We first show that the parameter space of HTM0, usually delimited by combined constraints originating from unitarity and BFB as well as experimental limits from LEP and LHC, is severely reduced when the modified Veltman conditions at one loop are also imposed. Then, we perform an rigorous analysis of Higgs decays either when $h^0$ is the SM-like …
New massive spin-2 particles are predicted in theoretical extensions to the Standard Model (SM) attempting to solve the hierarchy problem. Such theories postulate that gravity is diluted compared to the other fundamental forces because it can propagate in extra spatial dimensions. While such theoretical models are of high experimental interest because they predict massive spin-2 particles ($Y_{2}$) potentially detectable by collider experiments, searches at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have thus far produced no significant evidence for their existence. This work considers a hypothetical phy…
