Sphaleron electroweak phase transition (EWPT) is calculated in two phase transition stages, thereby showing that the twin (or double) bubble nucleation structure of the phase transition and gravitational wave is in the investigation area of future detectors. With $v^2=v^2_1+v^2_2$ ($v_1$ and $v_2$ are two vacuum average values (VEV)) and $a=v^2/v_2^2$ which affects the expansion of bubbles during two phase transitions. The more $a$ increases, the more the expansion of two bubbles is at the same time. This ratio does not greatly affect the sphaleron energy but has an impact on gravitational waves. The larger the masses of the charged Higgs particles are, the greater the gravitational wave energy density ($Ωh^2$) is. When the frequency is in the range $0-1.2$ mHz, $Ωh^2$ will has a maximum value in the range $10^{-12}-10^{-11}$ for all values of $a$ so this can be detected in the future.
A two Higgs doublet model with flavorful Yukawa structure, in which the two doublets give mass to the third and the first two generations respectively, is combined with the twin Higgs mechanism to stabilize the Higgs mass against radiative corrections. We consider both a mirror twin and fraternal twin setup. We identify Higgs signal strength measurements and the decay $B_s \to μμ$ as the most important indirect constraints on the parameter space of the model. We explore the collider phenomenology of the model and find that the heavy Higgs in the visible sector can give a sizable number of disp…
In addition to being a solution to the little hierarchy problem, the Mirror Twin Higgs provides a natural setting for Asymmetric Dark Matter. In its incarnation with only one Higgs doublet and its mirror copy, dark matter would however almost certainly consist mostly of mirror atoms, which is severely ruled out by constraints on dark matter self-interactions. By adding a second Higgs doublet and its mirror, the vevs of the different Higgses can be arranged such that dark matter consists mostly of mirror neutrons, which is cosmologically viable. In this paper, it is shown that current constrain…
We propose a twin Pati-Salam (PS) theory of flavour broken to the $G_{4321}$ gauge group at high energies, then to the Standard Model at low energies, yielding a TeV scale vector leptoquark $U^μ_1(3,1,2/3)$ which has been suggested to address the lepton universality anomalies $R_{K^{(*)}}$ and $R_{D^{(*)}}$ in $B$ decays. Quark and lepton masses are mediated by vector-like fermions, with personal Higgs doublets for the second and third families, which may be replaced by a two Higgs doublet model (2HDM). The twin PS theory of flavour successfully accounts for all quark and lepton (including neu…
In the left-right twin Higgs model, one of the neutral Higgses is a natural candidate for WIMP dark matter. We analyzed the dark matter relic density in this framework and identified regions of parameter space that provide the right amount of dark matter. We also studied the dark matter in the more general inert Higgs doublet model in which the mass splittings between the dark matter and other particles do not follow the relations in the left-right twin Higgs model.
We construct a simple theory in which the fine-tuning of the standard model is significantly reduced. Radiative corrections to the quadratic part of the scalar potential are constrained to be symmetric under a global U(4) x U(4)' symmetry due to a discrete Z_2 "twin" parity, while the quartic part does not possess this symmetry. As a consequence, when the global symmetry is broken the Higgs fields emerge as light pseudo-Goldstone bosons, but with sizable quartic self-interactions. This structure allows the cutoff scale, Λ, to be raised to the multi-TeV region without significant fine-tuning. I…
In original twin Higgs model, vacuum misalignment between electroweak and new physics scales is realized by adding explicit $\mathbb{Z}_2$ breaking term. Introducing additional twin Higgs could accommodate spontaneous $\mathbb{Z}_2$ breaking, which explains the origin of this misalignment. We introduce a class of two twin Higgs doublet models with most general scalar potential, and discuss general conditions which trigger electroweak and $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry breaking. Various scenarios on realising the vacuum misalignment are systematically discussed in a natural two Higgs double model fram…
The effective potential of electroweak theory with two massless Higgs doublets at finite temperature is studied. We investigate phase structure and critical temperature in this model by numerical analysis without high-temperature expansion. The phase transition is found to be of first order. The critical temperature is shown to be relatively low for typical scalar masses. The free energy of the critical bubble is calculated with some approximations and we find that the bubble nucleation can occur at a temperature a little below the critical temperature. We also discuss the possibility of the e…
In twin Higgs model, the Higgs boson mass is protected by a $Z_2$ symmetry. The $Z_2$ symmetry needs to be broken either explicitly or spontaneously to obtain misalignment between electroweak and new physics vacua. We propose a novel $Z_2$ breaking mechanism, in which the $Z_2$ is spontaneously broken by radiative corrections to the Higgs potential. Two twin Higgses with different vacua are needed, and vacuum misalignment is realized by opposite but comparable contributions from gauge and Yukawa interactions to the potential. Due to fully radiative symmetry breaking, the Higgs sector is comple…
Electroweak baryogenesis is an attractive mechanism to generate the baryon asymmetry of the Universe via a strong first order electroweak phase transition. We compare the phase transition patterns suggested by the vacuum structure at the critical temperatures, at which local minima are degenerate, with those obtained from computing the probability for nucleation via tunneling through the barrier separating local minima. Heuristically, nucleation becomes difficult if the barrier between the local minima is too high, or if the distance (in field space) between the minima is too large. As an exam…

We investigate an extension of the Standard Model containing two Higgs doublets and a singlet scalar field (2HDSM). We show that the model can have a strongly first-order phase transition and give rise to the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe, consistent with all experimental constraints. In particular, the constraints from the electron and neutron electric dipole moments are less constraining here than in pure two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM). The two-step, first-order transition in 2HDSM, induced by the singlet field, may lead to strong supercooling and low nucleation temperatures in c…
Existing models of dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) find it very difficult to get a Higgs of mass lighter than $m_t$. Consequently, in light of the LHC discovery of the ~125 GeV Higgs, such models face a significant obstacle. Moreover, with three generations those models have a superheavy cut-off around $10^{17}$ GeV, requiring a significant fine-tuning. To overcome these twin difficulties, we propose a hybrid framework for EWSB, in which the Higgs mechanism is combined with a Nambu-Jona-Lasinio mechanism. The model introduces a strongly coupled doublet of heavy quarks with a mas…
We revisit the electroweak phase transition and the critical bubble in the scale invariant two Higgs doublet model in the light of recent LHC data. Moreover, the sphaleron decoupling condition is newly evaluated in this model. The analysis is done by using the resumed finite-temperature one-loop effective potential. It is found that the 125 GeV Higgs boson inevitably leads to the strong first-order electroweak phase transition, and the strength of which is always large enough to satisfy the sphaleron decoupling condition, $v_N/T_N > 1.2$, where $T_N$ denotes a nucleation temperature and $v_N$ …
In the standard scenario, the electroweak phase transition is a first order phase transition which completes by the nucleation of critical bubbles. Recently, there has been speculation that the standard picture of the electroweak phase transition is incorrect. Instead, it has been proposed that throughout the phase transition appreciable amounts of both broken and unbroken phases of $SU(2)$ coexist in equilibrium. I argue that this can not be the case. General principles insure that the universe will remain in a homogenous state of unbroken $SU(2)$ until the onset of critical bubble production…
An addition to the Standard Model of a real, gauge-singlet scalar field, coupled via a Higgs portal interaction, can reopen the possibility of a strongly first-order electroweak phase transition (EWPT) and successful electroweak baryogenesis (EWBG). If a discrete symmetry that forbids doublet-singlet mixing is present, this model is notoriously difficult to test at the Large Hadron Collider. As a result, it emerged as a useful benchmark for evaluating the capabilities of proposed future colliders to conclusively test EWPT and EWBG. In this paper, we evaluate the bubble nucleation temperature t…
We study a dark $SU(2)_D$ gauge extension of the standard model (SM) with the possibility of a strong first order phase transition (FOPT) taking place below the electroweak scale in the light of NANOGrav 12.5 yr data. As pointed out recently by the NANOGrav collaboration, gravitational waves (GW) from such a FOPT with appropriate strength and nucleation temperature can explain their 12.5 yr data. We impose a classical conformal invariance on the scalar potential of $SU(2)_D$ sector involving only a complex scalar doublet with negligible couplings with the SM Higgs. While a FOPT at sub-GeV temp…
