In the absence of a Grand Unified Theory framework, connecting the values of the mixing parameters in the quark and lepton sector is a difficult task, unless one introduces ad-hoc relations among the matrices that diagonalize such different kinds of fermions. In this paper, we discuss in detail the possibility that the PMNS matrix is given by the product U_{PMNS}=V^\ast_{CKM} T^\ast where T comes from the diagonalization of a see-saw like mass matrix that can be of a Bimaximal (BM), Tri-Bimaximal (TBM) and Golden Ratio (GR) form, and identify the leading corrections to such patterns that allow a good fit to the leptonic mixing matrix as well as to the CP phase. We also show that the modified versions of BM, TBM and GR can easily accommodate the solar and atmospheric mass differences
The Minimal Lepton Flavour Violation (MLFV) framework is discussed after the recent indication for CP violation in the leptonic sector. Among the three distinct versions of MLFV, the one with degenerate right-handed neutrinos will be disfavoured, if this indication is confirmed. The predictions for leptonic radiative rare decays and muon conversion in nuclei are analysed, identifying strategies to disentangle the different MLFV scenarios. The claim that the present anomalies in the semi-leptonic $B$-meson decays can be explained within the MLFV context is critically re-examined concluding that…
Starting with the Wolfenstein form for the leptonic mixing matrix we show that renormaliztion group evolution brings that to the observed large mixing at low energies.
I discuss different theories of leptonic flavor and their capability of describing the features of the lepton sector, namely charged lepton masses, neutrino masses, lepton mixing angles and leptonic (low and high energy) CP phases. In particular, I show examples of theories with an abelian flavor symmetry G_f, with a non-abelian G_f as well as theories with non-abelian G_f and CP.
Leptonic CP violation is yet to be confirmed as an additional source of CP violation in fundamental interactions. We study the case where leptonic CP violation is spontaneous and is induced by the mixing with a heavy charged vector-like lepton (VLL). We show that the non-decoupling of this VLL is linked with the presence of CP violation and its coupling with the SM leptons are partly fixed from the SM Yukawas. Due to the large leptonic mixing angles, these couplings are typically of the same order and there is no flavor preference. Strong but not definitive constraints come from charged lepton…

The current status of our knowledge of the 3-neutrino mixing parameters and of the CP violation in the lepton sector is summarised. The discrete symmetry approach to understanding the observed pattern of neutrino mixing and the related predictions for neutrino mixing angles and leptonic Dirac CP violation are reviewed.
We point out that leptonic weak-basis invariants are an important tool for the study of the properties of lepton flavour models. In particular, we show that appropriately chosen invariants can give a clear indication of whether a particular lepton flavour model favours normal or inverted hierarchy for neutrino masses and what is the octant of $θ_{23}$. These invariants can be evaluated in any conveniently chosen weak-basis and can also be expressed in terms of neutrino masses, charged lepton masses, mixing angles and CP violation phases.
We relate the observed pattern of leptonic mixing to the quaidegeneracy of three Majorana neutrinos. We show how lifting the degeneracy may lead to the measured value of $|U_{13}|$ and to sizeable CP violation of Dirac-type. We show some of the correlations obtained among physical observables, starting from some of the most interesting schemes proposed in the literature.
We compute the contributions of dimension six two-quark operators to the non-leptonic decay width of heavy hadrons due to the flavor changing bottom-to-up-quark transition in the heavy quark expansion. Analytical expressions for the Darwin term $ρ_D$ and the spin-orbit term $ρ_{\rm LS}$ are obtained with leading order accuracy.
Future experiments such as SHiP and high-intensity $e^+ e^-$ colliders will have a superb sensitivity to heavy Majorana neutrinos with masses below $M_Z$. We show that the measurement of the mixing to electrons and muons of one such state could imply the discovery of leptonic CP violation in the context of seesaw models. We quantify in the minimal model the CP discovery potential of these future experiments, and demonstrate that a 5$σ$ CL discovery of leptonic CP violation would be possible in a very significant fraction of parameter space.
The non-unitarity of the leptonic mixing matrix is a generic signal of new physics aiming at the generation of the observed neutrino masses. We discuss the Minimal Unitarity Violation (MUV) scheme, an effective field theory framework which represents the class of extensions of the Standard Model (SM) by heavy neutral leptons, and discuss the present bounds on the non-unitarity parameters as well as estimates for the sensitivity of the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC), based on the performance parameters from the preCDR.
In this paper we present a phenomenological analysis of the Partially Aligned Two Higgs Doublet Model (PA-2HDM) by using leptonic decays of mesons and $B^0_{d,s}$-$\bar B^0_{d,s}$ mixing. We focus our attention in a scenario where the leading contribution to FCNC is given by the tree level interaction with the light pseudoscalar $A^0$ ($M_{A^0}\sim 250$ GeV). We show how an underlying flavor symmetry controls FCNC in the quark and lepton couplings with the pseudoscalar, without alignment between Yukawa matrices. Upper bounds on the free parameters are calculated in the context of the leptonic …
We examine lepton flavor violating (LFV) interactions for heavy right-handed neutrinos that exist in most of the standard model extensions that address dark matter (DM) and neutrino mass at the loop level. In order to probe the collider effect of these LFV interactions, we impose the assumption that the model parameters give the right values of the DM relic density and fulfill the constraints from the LFV processes $\ell_α\rightarrow\ell_βγ$ and $\ell_α\rightarrow3\ell_β$. We also investigate the possibility of probing these interactions, and hence the right-handed neutrino, at leptonic collid…
