Several discrepancies in the decay of B-meson decay have drawn a lot of interest in the leptoquarks (LQ), making them an exciting discovery. The current research aims to discover the pair-production of leptoquarks that links strongly to the third generation of quarks and leptons at the center of mass energy $\sqrt{s}$=14 TeV, via proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Based on the lepton-quark coupling parameters and branching fractions, we separated our search into various benchmark points. The leading order (LO) signals and background processes are generated, while parton showering and hadronization is also performed to simulate the detector effects. The Boosted Decision Trees (BDTs), Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), and Likelihood (LH) methods are effective in improving signal-background discrimination compared to traditional cut-based analysis. The results indicate that these machine learning methods can significantly enhance the sensitivity in probing for new physics signals, such as LQs, at two different integrated luminosities. Specifically, the use of BDTs, MLP, and LH has led to higher signal significances and improved signal efficiency in both hadronic and semi-leptonic decay modes. The results suggest that the LQ masses of 500 GeV and 2.0 TeV in fully hadronic decay modes can be accurately probed with signal significance 176.70 (17.6) and 184.27 (0.01) for MVA (cut-based) at 1000 $fb^{-1}$, respectively. Similarly, in semi-leptonic decay mode the signal significance values are 168.56 and 181.89 at lowest and highest selected LQ masses respectively for MVA method only. The enhanced numbers by a factor of 2 are also reported at 3000 $fb^{-1}$.
Leptoquarks with masses at the TeV scale have been proposed as possible solutions to flavor anomalies reported in the b-flavor sector. Based on data taken in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13\,\mathrm{TeV}$ at the LHC, different leptoquark flavors can be probed in various final states. In this article, the results of direct searches for single and pair production of leptoquarks conducted by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations are summarized.
We present results from several searches for various exotic physics phenomena like large extra dimensions, leptoquarks, and dark matter, in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 and 8 TeV delivered by the LHC and collected with the CMS detector. Many different final states are analyzed using data collected in 2011 and 2012 corresponding to an integrated luminosity up to 5.0 fb$^{-1}$ and 19.7 fb$^{-1}$. No sign of physics beyond the standard model has been observed so far and the results are used to set new limits on various new physics model parameters.
Leptoquark searches are considered for future experiments at HERA, Tevatron, LHC, TESLA and THERA. Expected exclusion limits from direct leptoquark searches (leptoquark pair production and single leptoquark production) are compared with indirect limits expected from the contact interaction analysis. Strongest limits on the leptoquark masses and couplings are expected from high luminosity LHC data. If the leptoquark signal suggested by the existing data is detected at LHC, with mass below 1 TeV, TESLA will be an ideal place to study leptoquark properties, provided that the leptoquark Yukawa cou…
We examine the utility of employing polarized lepton (electron and muon) beams to perform indirect searches for scalar leptoquarks. We find that polarization can extend the reach in excluding leptoquark masses for both $e^+e^-$ and $μ^+μ^-$ machines. Polarization can also provide a diagnostic tool for determining leptoquark couplings.
Evidence for electron-muon universality violation that has been revealed in $b\to s \ell\ell$ transitions in the observables $R_{K,K^*}$ by the LHCb Collaboration can be explained with spin-1 leptoquarks in $SU(2)_L$ singlet $V_1$ or triplet $V_3$ representations in the ${\cal{O}}(1-10)$ TeV range. We explore the sensitivity of the high luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) and future proton-proton colliders to $V_1$ and $V_3$ in the parameter space connected to $R_{K,K^*}$-data. We consider pair production and single production in association with muons in different flavor benchmarks. Reinterpreting a rece…
Recent measurements in $B \to K^{(*)} μ^+ μ^-$ decays are somewhat discrepant with Standard Model predictions. They may be harbingers of new physics at an energy scale potentially accessible to direct discovery. We estimate the sensitivity of future hadron colliders to the possible new particles that may be responsible for the anomalies: leptoquarks or $Z^\prime$s. We consider luminosity upgrades for a 14 TeV LHC, a 33 TeV LHC, and a 100 TeV $pp$ collider such as the FCC-hh. Coverage of $Z^\prime$ models is excellent: for narrow particles, with perturbative couplings that may explain the $b$-d…
In this paper, we show an explicit way to realize a TeV-scale vector leptoquark from the Pati-Salam (PS) unification with extra vectorlike families. The leptoquark mass is constrained to be heavier than PeV-scale by the measurement of a flavor violating kaon decay, $K_L \to μe$, in conventional models. This strong constraint can be avoided by introducing vectorlike families consistently with the quark and lepton masses and CKM and PMNS matrices. The other flavor violating processes are also suppressed. In this model, the vector leptoquark can be sufficiently light to explain the recent $b\to s…
We review the present seach for scalar leptoquarks and the potential of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to unravel the existence of first generation leptoquarks. Talk given by O. J. P. Eboli at the International Workshop on "Physics Beyond the Standard Model: from Theory to Experiment", Valencia, 1997.
The resolved and direct photon contributions to the single leptoquark (L) production process $γp\rightarrow L e$ are analysed for both scalar (S) and vector (V) leptoquarks in detail. It is shown that resolved photon contribution dominates for $M_{L}\leq 300 GeV$. For $M_{V}\geq 1 TeV$ and $M_{S}\geq 0.5 TeV$ cross section is completely determined by the direct photon conribution. The vector leptoquarks are discussed for both gauge- and non-gauge cases seperately.
We perform a model-independent search for leptoquarks (LQs) at the Large Hadron Collider through their pair-production and subsequent decay into $t\bar t ττ$ intermediate states. We show that, assuming full luminosity of the Run 2, a fully hadronic signal emerging from this intermediate state can surpass in sensitivity the established searches relying on leptons in the final state. Our conclusion is supported by a thorough Monte-Carlo analysis, and we advocate the deployment of our proposed search channel in the proper experimental setting of the Run 3. Furthermore, in order to highlight the f…
Leptoquarks (LQ) with couplings to the third generation of Standard Model (SM) quarks have been proposed as possible explanations of the flavour anomalies indicating the violation of lepton flavour universality (LFV). The CMS collaboration has initiated an extensive search programme for these new states in the LHC run-2 data recorded at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV. In this article, the CMS search results in the LQ pair-production final states $τb\,τb$, $νt\,νt$, $νb\,νb$, $τt\,τt$, and $μt\,μt$, as well as in the LQ single-production final state $τ\,τb$ are discussed. No significant deviation from the S…
In a vector-like extension of the minimal standard model with mirror fermions leptoquarks can be bound states of fermion-mirror-fermion pairs held together by a new strong interaction at the TeV scale. The small couplings of leptoquarks to light fermion pairs arise due to mixing. The large $Q^2$ event excess at HERA and also the high $E_T$ jet excess at Tevatron can potentially be explained.
Collider searches for first-, second-, and third-generation scalar (S) or vector (V) leptoquarks (LQs) focus on the quark-lepton decay modes S,V -> q l. For SU(2)-doublet and -triplet leptoquarks with a sufficiently large splitting between the components, decays involving real W-boson emission (such as S_2^{(+5/3)} -> S_2^{(+2/3)} W^{+} and others) become possible and can change the patterns of leptoquark decays. For third-generation leptoquarks, where these mass splittings might be large, such modes could dominate certain leptoquark decays as they are (if kinematically allowed) guaranteed to …
We show that there can be TeV scale scalar and fermionic leptoquarks with very weak Yukawa couplings in a generic standard--like superstring model. Leptoquark--(down--like) quark mixing though present, is not large enough to violate the unitarity bounds on the CKM matrix. The constraints on leptoquark masses and couplings from FCNCs are easily satisfied whereas those from baryon number violation may cause problems. The leptoquarks of the model are compared to the ones in $E_6$ Calabi--Yau and flipped $SU(5) \times U(1)$ models.
The t-channel exchange of a first generation leptoquark could contribute to the cross-section for q q-bar to e+e-. The leptoquark is off-shell, so this process can be sensitive to leptoquarks beyond the mass reach of pair production searches at the LHC (currently m_{LQ}> 830 GeV). We attempt to analytically translate ATLAS bounds on $ (\bar{q} γ^μq) (\bar{e} γ_μe) $ contact interactions to the various scalar leptoquarks, and obtain a bound on their quark-lepton coupling of order $λ^2 \leq (m_{LQ}/2$ TeV)$^2$. The greatest difficulty in this translation is that the leptoquarks do not induce the…
It was previously noted that SU(5) unification can be achieved via the simple addition of light scalar leptoquarks from two split $\bf10$ multiplets. We explore the parameter space of this model in detail and find that unification requires at least one leptoquark to have mass below $\approx16\,$TeV. We point out that introducing splitting of the $\bf24$ allows the unification scale to be raised beyond $10^{16}$ GeV, while a U(1)$_{PQ}$ symmetry can be imposed to forbid dangerous proton decay mediated by the light leptoquarks. The latest bounds from LHC searches are combined and we find that a …
We perform a systematic analysis of scalar and vector leptoquark pair production at the Fermilab Tevatron and at the CERN LHC. We evaluate signal expectations and background levels for the processes pp (p ppar) -> 2 jets + e^{+} + e^{-} and 2 jets + e + missing p_T. The Monte Carlo event generator ISAJET is used to simulate the experimental conditions at the current (Sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV, Luminosity=100 pb^{-1}) and upgraded (Luminosity=100 pb^{-1}) Tevatron as well as the LHC (Sqrt{s}=14 TeV, Luminosity=10 fb^{-1}). Depending on the luminosity, and assuming a branching ratio B(LQ -> eq)=0.5, we fi…
The search reaches for both scalar($S$) and vector($V$) leptoquarks at future hadron colliders are summarized. In particular we evaluate the production cross sections of both leptoquark types at TeV33 and LHC as well as the proposed 60 and 200 TeV colliders through both quark-antiquark annihilation and gluon-gluon fusion: $q \bar q, gg \to SS,VV$. Experiments at these machines should easily discover such particles if their masses are not in excess of the few TeV range. [To appear in the Proceedings of the 1996 DPF/DPB Summer Study on New Directions for High Energy Physics-Snowmass96, Snowmass,…
We estimate the future sensitivity of the high luminosity (HL-) and high energy (HE-) modes of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and of a 100 TeV future circular collider (FCC-hh) to leptoquark (LQ) pair production in the muon-plus-jet decay mode of each LQ. Such LQs are motivated by the fact they provide an explanation for the neutral current $B-$anomalies. For each future collider, Standard Model (SM) backgrounds and detector effects are simulated. From these, sensitivities of each collider are found. Our measures of sensitivity are based upon a Run II ATLAS search, which we also use for valid…
Search strategies for the third-generation leptoquarks (LQs) are distinct from other LQ searches, especially when they decay to a top quark and a $τ$ lepton. We investigate the cases of all TeV-scale scalar and vector LQs that decay to either a top-tau pair (charge-$1/3$ and $5/3$ LQs) or a top-neutrino pair (charge-$2/3$ LQs). One can then use the boosted top (which can be tagged efficiently using jet-substructure techniques) and high-$p_{\rm T}$ $τ$ leptons to search for these LQs. We consider two search channels with either one or two taus along with at least one hadronically decaying boost…
We perform a Monte-Carlo simulation of scalar leptoquark pair production at the Tevatron (energy =1.8 TeV and luminosity =100 pb^{-1}) with ISAJET. We also investigate the dominant sources of Standard Model background: Z*jj, ZZ production and heavy quark top-antitop. We find that the top-antitop background is the most important except near the Z pole where the Z*jj background is peaked. We also evaluate the signal-to-background ratio and find a discovery reach of 130 GeV (170 GeV) for a branching ratio of B(LQ-> eq)=0.5 (B=1).
Current LHC searches for new colored particles generally focus on their pair production channels and assume any single production to be negligible. We argue that such an assumption may be unnecessary in some cases. Inclusion of model dependent single productions in pair production searches (or vice versa) can give us new information about model parameters or better exclusion limits. Considering the example of the recent CMS search for first generation scalar leptoquarks in the pair production channel, we illustrate how single productions can be systematically included in the signal estimations…
We study the sensitivity of the Tevatron and the 7 TeV LHC to a leptoquark S coupling to a top quark and a charged lepton L (= e, mu, or tau). For the Tevatron, we focus on the case m_S < m_t, where the leptoquark pair production cross section is large, and the decay is three-body: S --> W b L^{\pm}. We argue that existing Tevatron observations could exclude m_S \lsim 160 GeV. For m_S > m_t, we show that the LHC experiments with low integrated luminosity could be sensitive to such leptoquarks decaying to tl^{\pm} with l= mu or tau.
In this article, we deal with how to distinguish the signatures of different \LQs at the LHC/FCC if all of them lie within similar mass and coupling range and can be produced at present and future colliders. It has been found that hard scattering cross-sections and angular distributions can be used to differentiate scalar and vector Leptoquarks. On the other hand, final state topology and determination of jet charge can separate \LQs with same spin even from same $SU(2)_L$ multiplet. We performed a PYTHIA8 based analysis considering all the dominant Standard Model (SM) backgrounds at the LHC/F…
The Standard Model is extended by a SU(2)L singlet of vector leptoquarks. An additional SU(4) gauge symmetry between right-handed up quarks and right-handed leptons is introduced to render the model renormalizable. The arrangement is made in such a way that no conflict with low energy restrictions is encountered. The SU(2)L singlet mediates interactions between the right-handed leptons and up type quarks for which only moderate low energy restrictions M(LQ)/g(LQ) > few hundred GeV exist. We cancel the anomalies of the model and furthermore argue that the inequality g(LQ) > g(QCD) is a general …
While the hunt for new states beyond the standard model (SM) goes on for various well motivated theories, the leptoquarks are among the most appealing scenarios at recent times due to a series of tensions observed in $B$-meson decays. We consider $SU(2)$ singlet and triplet scalar leptoquarks separately, which contribute to charged and neutral current $B$-meson decays. Focusing on the single production of these two scalar leptoquarks, we perform a PYTHIA-based simulation considering all the dominant SM backgrounds at the current and future setups of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The mono-$b…
The searches for extra-dimensions, top resonances, 4th generation quarks and leptoquark signatures are presented. The results are based on proton-proton collision data for a center-of mass energy of7 or 8 TeV, corresponding to various integrated luminosities. No signal of physics beyond the Standard Model has been observed so far.
We propose a mechanism that allows for sizeable flavour violation in quark-lepton currents, while suppressing flavour changing neutral currents in quark-quark and lepton-lepton sectors. The mechanism is applied to the recently proposed 4321 renormalizable model, which can accommodate the current experimental anomalies in $B$-meson decays, both in charged and neutral currents, while remaining consistent with all other indirect flavour and electroweak precision measurements and direct searches at high-$p_T$. To support this claim, we present an exhaustive phenomenological survey of this fully ca…
The LHC search strategies for leptoquarks that couple dominantly to a top quark are different than for the ones that couple mostly to the light quarks. We consider charge $1/3$ ($ϕ_1$) and $5/3$ ($ϕ_5$) scalar leptoquarks that can decay to a top quark and a charged lepton ($t\ell$) giving rise to a resonance system of a boosted top and a high-$p_{\rm T}$ lepton. We introduce simple phenomenological models suitable for bottom-up studies and explicitly map them to all possible scalar leptoquark models within the Buchmüller-Rückl-Wyler classifications that can have the desired decays. We study pa…
We show that stringent limits on leptoquarks that couple to first-generation quarks and left-handed electrons or muons can be derived from the spectral shape of the charged-current Drell-Yan process ($p p \to \ell^\pm ν$) at Run 2 of the LHC. We identify and examine all six leptoquark species that can generate such a monolepton signal, including both scalar and vector leptoquarks, and find cases where the leptoquark exchange interferes constructively, destructively or not at all with the Standard Model signal. When combined with the corresponding leptoquark-mediated neutral-current ($p p \to \…
We derive bounds on vector leptoquarks coupling to the first generation, using data from low energy experiments as well as from high energy accelerators. Similarly to the case of scalar leptoquarks, we find that the strongest indirect bounds arise from atomic parity violation and universality in leptonic pi decays. These bounds are considerably stronger than the first direct bounds of HERA, restricting vector leptoquarks that couple with electromagnetic strength to right-handed quarks to lie above 430 GeV or 460 GeV, and leptoquarks that couple with electromagnetic strength to left-handed quar…
In this talk, we discuss a simplified version of a recently proposed twin Pati-Salam (PS) theory of flavour broken to the $G_{4321}$ gauge group at high energies, then to the Standard Model at low energies, yielding a TeV scale vector leptoquark $U^μ_1(3,1,2/3)$ which may be used to address the lepton universality anomalies $R_{K^{(*)}}$ and $R_{D^{(*)}}$ in $B$ decays. The model also accounts for quark and lepton mass hierarchies, providing a link between the flavour anomalies and a theory of flavour.
At the LHC, a TeV-scale leptoquark (LQ) that decays dominantly to a top quark ($t$) and a light charged lepton ($\ell=e,μ$) would form a resonance system of \emph{boosted-$t$ $+$ high-$p_{\rm T}$-$\ell$}. We consider all possible vector LQ models within the Buchmüller-Rückl-Wyler classifications with the desired decay. We propose simple phenomenological Lagrangians that are suitable for bottom-up/experimental studies and, at the same time, can cover the relevant parameter spaces of these models. In this simplified framework, we study the pair and single production channels of vector LQs at the…
The sensitivity of THERA to different models of "new physics" has been studied, both for the contact interaction approximation and for the resonance production. For contact interaction models conserving parity, scales up to about 18 TeV can be explored at THERA, extending considerably beyond the existing bounds. Significant improvement of existing limits is also expected for models with large extra dimensions. Effective Plank mass scales up to about 2.8 TeV can be probed. THERA will be the best machine to study leptoquark properties, for leptoquark masses up to about 1 TeV. It will be sensitiv…
Purely leptonic $B$ meson decays provide unique probes for physics Beyond the Standard Model. We study the impact of a scalar leptoquark, $S_1$, on $B \to μ\barν$ decay. We find that, for $m_{S_1}\sim 1$ TeV, the $S_1$ leptoquark can modify the $B \to μ\barν$ rate significantly. Such a leptoquark can in prinicple also alter the $B \to τ\barν$ rate. However, current searches from LHC and low energy physics provide some constraints on the parameter space.
We point out unique relations between the decay widths for leptoquarks and Higgs bosons that can be used to test the unification of quarks and leptons at the TeV scale. We discuss the main predictions of the minimal theory for quark-lepton unification and show how the different decays for leptoquarks and Higgses are related by the symmetry of the theory.
We investigate the ability of the $S_3$ scalar leptoquark to address the recent hints of lepton universality violation in $B$ meson decays. The $S_3$ leptoquark with quantum numbers $(\overline{\mathbf{3}},\mathbf{3},1/3)$ naturally emerges in the context of an $SU(5)$ GUT model without any conflict with the stringent limits from observed nucleon stability. Scalar leptoquark $S_3$ with left-handed couplings to 2nd and 3rd generations of charged leptons and down-type quarks seems well-suited to address both $R_{K^{(*)}}$ and $R_{D^{(*)}}$. We quantify this suitability with numerical fits to a p…
The contributions of the vector leptoquarks of Pati-Salam type to the branching ratios of $K_L^0, B^0, B_s \to l \, l^{\prime}$ decays are calculated with account of the fermion mixing in the leptoguark currents of the general type. Using the general parametrizations of the mixing matrices the lower vector leptoquark mass limit $ m_V > 86 \,\, TeV $ is found from the current experimental data on these decays. The branching ratios of the decays $B^0, B_s \to l \, l^{\prime}$ predicted at $m_V = 86 \,\, TeV$ are calculated. These branching ratios for the decays $ B^0, B_s \to μ^+ μ^-, e μ$ are c…
We study scalar leptoquark production at TESLA and CLIC based e-gamma colliders. Both direct and resolved contributions to the cross section are examined. We find that the masses of scalar leptoquarks can be probed up to about 0.9 TeV at TESLA and 2.6 TeV at CLIC.
The contributions of the chiral gauge leptoquarks $V^{L,R}$ induced by the chiral four color quark-lepton symmetry to the branching ratios of $ K_L^0, B^0, B_s \to l_1 \, l_2 $ decays are calculated and analysed using the general parametrizations of the fermion mixing matrices in the leptoguark currents. From the current experimental data on these decays under assumption $ m_{V^L} \ll m_{V^R} $ the lower mass limit $ m_{V^L} \cos{γ_L} > 5.68 \,\, \mbox{TeV}$ is found, which in particular case of equal gauge coupling constants gives $ m_{V^L} > 8.03 \,\, \mbox{TeV} $. The branching ratios of th…
We study implications of large lepton-quark-leptoquark couplings for direct leptoquark searches at Large Hadron Collider. We present all existing flavor constraints on the strength of these couplings assuming that leptoquarks under consideration interact exclusively with charged leptons and quarks of the same generation. We find that these leptoquarks can have sizeable couplings to the Standard Model fermions. This insures a self consistency of our study. We discuss the leptoquark production mechanisms at LHC and demonstrate the importance of inclusion of a t-channel pair production and, in pa…
In this article we perform a combined analysis of low energy precision constraints and LHC searches for leptoquarks which couple to first generation fermions. Considering all ten leptoquark representations, five scalar and five vector ones, we study at the precision frontier the constraints from $K\toπνν$, $K\toπe^+e^-$, $K^0-\bar K^0$ and $D^0-\bar D^0$ mixing, as well as from experiments searching for parity violation (APV and QWEAK). We include LHC searches for $s$-channel single resonant production, pair production and Drell-Yan-like signatures of leptoquarks. Interestingly, we find that t…
We propose a twin Pati-Salam (PS) theory of flavour broken to the $G_{4321}$ gauge group at high energies, then to the Standard Model at low energies, yielding a TeV scale vector leptoquark $U^μ_1(3,1,2/3)$ which has been suggested to address the lepton universality anomalies $R_{K^{(*)}}$ and $R_{D^{(*)}}$ in $B$ decays. Quark and lepton masses are mediated by vector-like fermions, with personal Higgs doublets for the second and third families, which may be replaced by a two Higgs doublet model (2HDM). The twin PS theory of flavour successfully accounts for all quark and lepton (including neu…
We implement scalar and vector leptoquark (LQ) models in the universal FeynRules output (UFO) format assuming the Standard Model fermion content and conservation of baryon and lepton numbers. Scalar LQ implementations include next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections. We report the NLO QCD inclusive cross sections in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV, 14 TeV, and 27 TeV for all on-shell LQ production processes. These comprise (i) LQ pair production ($p p \to ΦΦ$) and (ii) single LQ + lepton production ($p p \to Φ\ell$) for all initial quark flavours ($u$, $d$, $s$, $c$, and $b$). Vector LQ …
The deviations of $B$-meson decays measured in $R_{D^{(*)}}^{τ\ell}$ and $R_{K^{(*)}}^{μe}$ can be explained by the presence of two scalar leptoquarks, a singlet $S_1$ and a triplet $S_3$, mostly coupled to the third generation. We consider a theory of resonances, as an effective description of a strongly interacting theory, that generates the leptoquarks and the Higgs as Nambu-Goldstone bosons, with the rest of the resonances at a scale of order $10-30\ {\rm TeV}$. We assume anarchic partial compositeness for the flavor of the SM fermions. Under these hypothesis we study whether it is possibl…
We obtain constraints on first- and second-generation scalar leptoquarks using the available data on dilepton (Drell-Yan) and monojet searches at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Assuming that the leptoquark interactions respect the Standard Model gauge symmetries as well as lepton and baryon numbers, we show that the study of dilepton production enlarges the exclusion region on the mass and coupling plane with respect to the pair production searches for first-generation leptoquarks. Moreover, the monojet channel leads to a larger excluded parameter region for moderate to large values of the le…
We examine new aspects of leptoquark (LQ) phenomenology using effective field theory (EFT). We construct a complete set of leading effective operators involving SU(2) singlets scalar LQ and the SM fields up to dimension six. We show that, while the renormalizable LQ-lepton-quark interaction Lagrangian can address the persistent hints for physics beyond the Standard Model in the B-decays $\bar B \to D^{(*)} τ\barν$, $\bar B \to \bar K \ell^+ \ell^-$ and in the measured anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, the LQ higher dimensional effective operators may lead to new interesting effects associ…
We calculate the resolved photon contribution to leptoquark production at $eγ$ colliders for the center of mass energies $\sqrt s=500$~GeV and 1~TeV. We also calculate the resolved photon contribution to leptoquark production at $e^+ e^-$ colliders for the center of mass energies $\sqrt{s} = 1$~and~2~TeV. In both cases we find that these contributions are considerably larger than the standard contributions considered in the literature.
The sensitivity of LeHC to different models of "new physics" has been studied, both for the resonance production and in the contact interaction approximation. Expected limits are compared for different running scenarios. Direct leptoquark production can be studied for masses up to about 2 TeV. For contact interaction models scales up to about 70 TeV can be explored. Significant improvement of existing limits is also expected for models with large extra dimensions. Effective Plank mass scales up to about 5.4 TeV can be probed. LeHC will be sensitive to the quark substructure of the order of 1E-…
We study the discovery potential of the CMS detector for the scalar leptoquark pair production at the LHC. Present and future exclusion limits are considered. We find that the maximal leptoquark mass reach is about 1.47 TeV for the branching ratio of Br(LQ_l -> l q)=100 %, while for Br(LQ_l -> l q)=50 % the upper limit is 1.2 TeV for an integrated luminosity of 100 fb-1. We obtain comparable results for electron and muon-type leptoquarks. The pileup effect at high luminosity is discussed.
A compilation is given of the pair production cross sections for scalar and vector leptoquarks in the kinematic range of the hadron colliders Tevatron and LHC.
The measurements of $R_K^{(*)}$ and $R_{D}^{(*)}$ by BaBar, Belle and the LHCb collaborations could be showing a hint of lepton flavor universality violation that can be accommodated by the presence of suitable leptoquarks at the TeV scale. We consider an effective description, with leptoquarks arising as composite pseudo Nambu-Goldstone bosons, as well as anarchic partial compositeness of the SM fermions. Considering the $R_K^{(*)}$ anomaly within this framework, we study pair production of $S_3\sim(\bar 3,3)_{1/3}$ at the LHC. We focus on the component $S_3^{1/3}$ of the triplet, which decay…
We explore leptoquark production and decay for the $\tilde{R}_{2}$ class of models at the proposed $e^{-} p$ collider LHeC, planned to operate with 150 GeV electron and 7 TeV proton beams. In addition to the coupling of leptoquark with the lepton and jet, the model also has right handed neutrinos, coupled to the leptoquark. We analyse the collider signatures of a number of final states, that can originate from leptoquark decay into the standard model particles, as well as, the final states that originate from further decay of the heavy neutrinos, produced from leptoquark. We find that the fina…
We present the results of an analysis for the pair production of scalar leptoquarks at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) with energy=14 TeV and luminosity=10 fb^{-1} which includes the dominant sources of Standard Model background associated to this process: top-antitop, ZZ, WZ and Z*jj production. The top-antitop process provides the main source of background. We consider leptoquarks introduced in the framework of a superstring-inspired E_6 model. The leptoquark production is found to be dominant in all regions of parameter space for leptoquark masses below 750 GeV. We establish the discov…
Leptoquarks are one of the possible candidates for explaining various anomalies in flavour physics. Nonetheless, their existence is yet to be confirmed from experimental side. In this paper we have shown how zeros of single photon tree-level amplitude can be used to extract information about leptoquarks in case of $e$-$γ$ colliders. Small number of standard model backgrounds keep the signal clean in this kind of colliders. Unlike other colliders, the zeros of single photon amplitude here depend on $\sqrt{s}$ as well as the mass of leptoquark along with its electric charge. We perform a PYTHIA …
A high energy muon collider can provide new and complementary discovery potential to the LHC or future hadron colliders. Leptoquarks are a motivated class of exotic new physics models, with distinct production channels at hadron and lepton machines. We study a vector leptoquark model at a muon collider with $\sqrt{s} = 3, 14$ TeV within a set of both UV and phenomenologically motivated flavor scenarios. We compute which production mechanism has the greatest reach for various values of the leptoquark mass and the coupling between leptoquark and Standard Model fermions. We find that we can probe…
Recently, deviations in flavor observables of B -> D(*) tau nu have been shown between the predictions in the Standard Model and the experimental results reported by BaBar, Belle, and LHCb collaborations. One of the solutions to this anomaly is obtained in a class of leptoquark model with a scalar leptoquark boson S_1, which is a SU(3)_c triplet and SU(2)_L singlet particle with -1/3 hypercharge interacting with a quark-lepton pair. With well-adjusted couplings, this model can explain the anomaly and be compatible with all flavor constraints. In such a case, the S_1 boson can be pair-produced …
