In this paper, we show how to generate the multiple single-photon wavepackets of arbitrary temporal shape from an optical cavity coupled with $N$ three-level atoms driven by a driving field in the non-Markovian regime. We derive an exact analytical expression of the optimal driving field for generating such wavepackets, which depends on two detunings of the cavity and driving field with respect to the three-level atoms. The cavity we used consists of two mirrors facing each other, where one is perfect and the other exists the dissipation (one-sided cavity), which couples with the corresponding non-Markovian input-output fields. If the first single-photon wavepacket generated by the Markovian system is the same as the non-Markovian case, the Markovian system cannot generate the same multiple single-photon wavepackets as the non-Markovian one when the spectral widths of the other environments taking values different from the spectral width of the first environment, while setting the equal spectral widths for the different environments can generate this. The generated multiple different single-photon wavepackets are not independent of each other, which satisfy certain relations with non-Markovian spectral parameters. We analyse the transition from Markovian to non-Markovian regimes and compare the differences between them, where the cavity interacts simultaneously with the multiple non-Markovian environments. Finally, we extend the above results to a general non-Markovian quantum network involving many cavities coupled with driven three-level atoms.
We introduce a three qubit waveguide QED system to mimic the cavity-QED strong coupling regime of a probe qubit embedded in atom-like mirrors, which was realized in recent experiments. We then extend this system into the deep non-Markovian regime and demonstrate the profound role that retardation plays on the dressed resonances, allowing one to significantly improve the polariton lifetimes (by many orders of magnitude), tune the resonances, as well as realize Fano-like resonances and simultaneous coupling to multiple cavity modes. Exact Green function solutions are presented for the spectral r…
Based on the recent experiments on the hybrid quantum system of a superconducting microwave cavity coupling strongly to an inhomogeneous broadening spin ensemble under an external driving field, we use the exact master equation approach to investigate its non-Markovian decoherence dynamics. Here the spin ensemble is made by negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy (NV) defects in diamond. Our exact master equation theory for open systems depicts the experimental decoherence results and reveals the mechanism how the decoherence induced by the inhomogeneous broadening is suppressed in the strong-coup…
We study the non-Markovianity and quantum speedup of a two-level atom (quantum system of interest) in a dissipative Jaynes-Cumming model, where the atom is embedded in a single-mode cavity, which is leaky being coupled to an external reservoir with Ohmic spectral density. We obtain the non-Markovianity characterized by using the probability of the atomic excited state and the negative decoherence rate in the time-local master equation. We also calculate the quantum speed limit time (QSLT) of the evolution process of the atom. The results show that, the atom-cavity coupling is the main physical…
In this work, we obtain an analytical representation of the density operator of an atom in dissipative cavity when the reservoir is at zero temperature and the total number of excitation is N=1. We also investigated the quantum speed limit time(QSLT) of the atom and the non-Markovianity in the dynamics process. The results show that the QSLT and the non-Markovianity can be effectively manipulated by the atom-cavity coupling and the reservoir parameters. Both of the atom-cavity coupling and the detuning can induce a sudden transition from Markovian to non-Markovian dynamics and this transition …
We theoretically analyze measurements of the transient field leaving a cavity as a tool for studying non-Markovian dynamics in cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED). Combined with a dynamical decoupling pulse sequence, transient spectroscopy can be used to recover spectral features that may be obscured in the stationary cavity transmission spectrum due to inhomogeneous broadening. The formalism introduced here can be leveraged to perform in situ noise spectroscopy, revealing a robust signature of quantum noise arising from non-commuting observables, a purely quantum effect.
An important challenge in non-Markovian open quantum systems is to understand what information we gain from continuous measurement of an output field. For example, atoms in multimode cavity QED systems provide an exciting platform to study many-body phenomena in regimes where the atoms are strongly coupled amongst themselves and with the cavity, but the strong coupling makes it complicated to infer the conditioned state of the atoms from the output light. In this work we address this problem, describing the reduced atomic state via a conditioned hierarchy of equations of motion, which provides…
