In five- and six-dimensional $U(N)$ and $SU(N)$ gauge theories compactified on $S^1/Z_2$ and $T^2/Z_3$ orbifolds, we propose a new method to classify the equivalence classes (ECs) of boundary conditions (BCs) wihtout depending on the structure of gauge transformations. Some of the BCs are connected through gauge transformations and constitute ECs, each of which contains physically equivalent BCs. Previous methods for classifying ECs have been used specific gauge transformations. In this paper, we show that a geometric property of orbifolds significantly narrows down the possibilities of connecting BCs and completes the classification of ECs.
Calabi-Yau algebras are particularly symmetric differential graded algebras. There is a construction called `Calabi-Yau completion' which produces a canonical Calabi-Yau algebra from any homologically smooth dg algebra. Homologically smooth dg algebras also form a 2-category to which the construction of `equivariant completion' can be applied. In this theory two objects are called `orbifold equivalent' if there is a 1-morphism $X$ with invertible quantum dimensions between them. Any such relation entails a whole family of equivalences between categories. We show that an orbifold equivalence be…
In Mulevičius-Runkel, arXiv:2002.00663, it was shown how a so-called orbifold datum $\mathbb{A}$ in a given modular fusion category (MFC) $\mathcal{C}$ produces a new MFC $\mathcal{C}_{\mathbb{A}}$. Examples of these associated MFCs include condensations, i.e. the categories $\mathcal{C}_B^\circ$ of local modules of a separable commutative algebra $B\in\mathcal{C}$. In this paper we prove that the relation $\mathcal{C} \sim \mathcal{C}_{\mathbb{A}}$ on MFCs is the same as Witt equivalence. This is achieved in part by providing one with an explicit construction for inverting condensations, i.e.…
We consider the connection between two constructions of the mirror partner for the Calabi-Yau orbifold. This orbifold is defined as a quotient by some suitable subgroup $G$ of the phase symmetries of the hypersurface $ X_M $ in the weighted projective space, cut out by a quasi-homogeneous polynomial $W_M$. The first, Berglund-Hübsch-Krawitz (BHK) construction, uses another weighted projective space and the quotient of a new hypersurface $X_{M^T}$ inside it by some dual group $G^T$. In the second, Batyrev construction, the mirror partner is constructed as a hypersurface in the toric variety def…
Using Majorana fermions and elementary mesons we find new massless quantum field theories with weakly interacting ultraviolet fixed points. We also find new classes of large N equivalences amongst SU, SO and Sp gauge theories with different types of matter fields and Yukawa interactions. Results include a triality of asymptotically safe theories and dualities between asymptotically free matter-gauge theories with identical fixed points, phase diagrams, and scaling exponents. Implications for conformal field theory and orbifold reductions are indicated.
