The diffusion-based Singing Voice Conversion (SVC) methods have achieved remarkable performances, producing natural audios with high similarity to the target timbre. However, the iterative sampling process results in slow inference speed, and acceleration thus becomes crucial. In this paper, we propose CoMoSVC, a consistency model-based SVC method, which aims to achieve both high-quality generation and high-speed sampling. A diffusion-based teacher model is first specially designed for SVC, and a student model is further distilled under self-consistency properties to achieve one-step sampling. Experiments on a single NVIDIA GTX4090 GPU reveal that although CoMoSVC has a significantly faster inference speed than the state-of-the-art (SOTA) diffusion-based SVC system, it still achieves comparable or superior conversion performance based on both subjective and objective metrics. Singing voice conversion is a task to convert a song sang by a source singer to the voice of a target singer. In this paper, we propose using a parallel data free, many-to-one voice conversion technique on singing voices. A phonetic posterior feature is first generated by decoding singing voices through a robust Automatic Speech Recognition Engine (ASR). Then, a trained Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) with a Deep Bidirectional Long Short Term Memory (DBLSTM) structure is used to model the mapping from person-independent content to the acoustic features of the target person. F0 and aperiodic are…
Singing voice conversion is converting the timbre in the source singing to the target speaker's voice while keeping singing content the same. However, singing data for target speaker is much more difficult to collect compared with normal speech data.In this paper, we introduce a singing voice conversion algorithm that is capable of generating high quality target speaker's singing using only his/her normal speech data. First, we manage to integrate the training and conversion process of speech and singing into one framework by unifying the features used in standard speech synthesis system and s…
Recent progress in deep generative models has improved the quality of neural vocoders in speech domain. However, generating a high-quality singing voice remains challenging due to a wider variety of musical expressions in pitch, loudness, and pronunciations. In this work, we propose a hierarchical diffusion model for singing voice neural vocoders. The proposed method consists of multiple diffusion models operating in different sampling rates; the model at the lowest sampling rate focuses on generating accurate low-frequency components such as pitch, and other models progressively generate the …

Singing voice separation (SVS) is a task that separates singing voice audio from its mixture with instrumental audio. Previous SVS studies have mainly employed the spectrogram masking method which requires a large dimensionality in predicting the binary masks. In addition, they focused on extracting a vocal stem that retains the wet sound with the reverberation effect. This result may hinder the reusability of the isolated singing voice. This paper addresses the issues by predicting mel-spectrogram of dry singing voices from the mixed audio as neural vocoder features and synthesizing the singi…
Conventional singing voice conversion (SVC) methods often suffer from operating in high-resolution audio owing to a high dimensionality of data. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical representation learning that enables the learning of disentangled representations with multiple resolutions independently. With the learned disentangled representations, the proposed method progressively performs SVC from low to high resolutions. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms baselines that operate with a single resolution in terms of mean opinion score (MOS), similarity score, …

A Comparative Study of Voice Conversion Models with Large-Scale Speech and Singing Data: The T13 Systems for the Singing Voice Conversion Challenge 2023
We present a wav-to-wav generative model for the task of singing voice conversion from any identity. Our method utilizes both an acoustic model, trained for the task of automatic speech recognition, together with melody extracted features to drive a waveform-based generator. The proposed generative architecture is invariant to the speaker's identity and can be trained to generate target singers from unlabeled training data, using either speech or singing sources. The model is optimized in an end-to-end fashion without any manual supervision, such as lyrics, musical notes or parallel samples. T…

Singing voice conversion aims to convert singer's voice from source to target without changing singing content. Parallel training data is typically required for the training of singing voice conversion system, that is however not practical in real-life applications. Recent encoder-decoder structures, such as variational autoencoding Wasserstein generative adversarial network (VAW-GAN), provide an effective way to learn a mapping through non-parallel training data. In this paper, we propose a singing voice conversion framework that is based on VAW-GAN. We train an encoder to disentangle singer …

Text-to-speech (TTS) and singing voice synthesis (SVS) aim at generating high-quality speaking and singing voice according to textual input and music scores, respectively. Unifying TTS and SVS into a single system is crucial to the applications requiring both of them. Existing methods usually suffer from some limitations, which rely on either both singing and speaking data from the same person or cascaded models of multiple tasks. To address these problems, a simplified elegant framework for TTS and SVS, named UniSyn, is proposed in this paper. It is an end-to-end unified model that can make a…

Recently, phonetic posteriorgrams (PPGs) based methods have been quite popular in non-parallel singing voice conversion systems. However, due to the lack of acoustic information in PPGs, style and naturalness of the converted singing voices are still limited. To solve these problems, in this paper, we utilize an acoustic reference encoder to implicitly model singing characteristics. We experiment with different auxiliary features, including mel spectrograms, HuBERT, and the middle hidden feature (PPG-Mid) of pretrained automatic speech recognition (ASR) model, as the input of the reference enc…
Singing voice conversion (SVC) aims to convert the voice of one singer to that of other singers while keeping the singing content and melody. On top of recent voice conversion works, we propose a novel model to steadily convert songs while keeping their naturalness and intonation. We build an end-to-end architecture, taking phonetic posteriorgrams (PPGs) as inputs and generating mel spectrograms. Specifically, we implement two separate encoders: one encodes PPGs as content, and the other compresses mel spectrograms to supply acoustic and musical information. To improve the performance on timbr…

Singing voice conversion (SVC) is one promising technique which can enrich the way of human-computer interaction by endowing a computer the ability to produce high-fidelity and expressive singing voice. In this paper, we propose DiffSVC, an SVC system based on denoising diffusion probabilistic model. DiffSVC uses phonetic posteriorgrams (PPGs) as content features. A denoising module is trained in DiffSVC, which takes destroyed mel spectrogram produced by the diffusion/forward process and its corresponding step information as input to predict the added Gaussian noise. We use PPGs, fundamental f…

Deep generative models have achieved significant progress in speech synthesis to date, while high-fidelity singing voice synthesis is still an open problem for its long continuous pronunciation, rich high-frequency parts, and strong expressiveness. Existing neural vocoders designed for text-to-speech cannot directly be applied to singing voice synthesis because they result in glitches and poor high-frequency reconstruction. In this work, we propose SingGAN, a generative adversarial network designed for high-fidelity singing voice synthesis. Specifically, 1) to alleviate the glitch problem in t…

This paper describes an end-to-end adversarial singing voice conversion (EA-SVC) approach. It can directly generate arbitrary singing waveform by given phonetic posteriorgram (PPG) representing content, F0 representing pitch, and speaker embedding representing timbre, respectively. Proposed system is composed of three modules: generator $G$, the audio generation discriminator $D_{A}$, and the feature disentanglement discriminator $D_F$. The generator $G$ encodes the features in parallel and inversely transforms them into the target waveform. In order to make timbre conversion more stable and c…

Adversarial waveform generation has been a popular approach as the backend of singing voice conversion (SVC) to generate high-quality singing audio. However, the instability of GAN also leads to other problems, such as pitch jitters and U/V errors. It affects the smoothness and continuity of harmonics, hence degrades the conversion quality seriously. This paper proposes to feed harmonic signals to the SVC model in advance to enhance audio generation. We extract the sine excitation from the pitch, and filter it with a linear time-varying (LTV) filter estimated by a neural network. Both these tw…

Generative models for singing voice have been mostly concerned with the task of ``singing voice synthesis,'' i.e., to produce singing voice waveforms given musical scores and text lyrics. In this work, we explore a novel yet challenging alternative: singing voice generation without pre-assigned scores and lyrics, in both training and inference time. In particular, we outline three such generation schemes, and propose a pipeline to tackle these new tasks. Moreover, we implement such models using generative adversarial networks and evaluate them both objectively and subjectively.
Automatic transcription of monophonic/polyphonic music is a challenging task due to the lack of availability of large amounts of transcribed data. In this paper, we propose a data augmentation method that converts natural speech to singing voice based on vocoder based speech synthesizer. This approach, called voice to singing (V2S), performs the voice style conversion by modulating the F0 contour of the natural speech with that of a singing voice. The V2S model based style transfer can generate good quality singing voice thereby enabling the conversion of large corpora of natural speech to sin…

Recent studies in singing voice synthesis have achieved high-quality results leveraging advances in text-to-speech models based on deep neural networks. One of the main issues in training singing voice synthesis models is that they require melody and lyric labels to be temporally aligned with audio data. The temporal alignment is a time-exhausting manual work in preparing for the training data. To address the issue, we propose a melody-unsupervision model that requires only audio-and-lyrics pairs without temporal alignment in training time but generates singing voice audio given a melody and l…

This paper presents a free Japanese singing voice corpus that can be used for highly applicable and reproducible singing voice synthesis research. A singing voice corpus helps develop singing voice synthesis, but existing corpora have two critical problems: data imbalance (singing voice corpora do not guarantee phoneme balance, unlike speaking-voice corpora) and copyright issues (cannot legally share data). As a way to avoid these problems, we constructed a PJS (phoneme-balanced Japanese singing voice) corpus that guarantees phoneme balance and is licensed with CC BY-SA 4.0, and we composed me…

Singing voice detection (SVD), to recognize vocal parts in the song, is an essential task in music information retrieval (MIR). The task remains challenging since singing voice varies and intertwines with the accompaniment music, especially for some complicated polyphonic music such as choral music recordings. To address this problem, we investigate singing voice detection while discarding the interference from the accompaniment. The proposed SVD has two steps: i. The singing voice separation (SVS) technique is first utilized to filter out the singing voice's potential part coarsely. ii. Upon …

To do so, we present Acappella, a dataset spanning around 46 hours of a cappella solo singing videos sourced from YouTube. We also propose an audio-visual convolutional network based on graphs which achieves state-of-the-art singing voice separation results on our dataset and compare it against its audio-only counterpart, U-Net, and a state-of-the-ar…

With decomposed speaker-independent information and the target speaker's embedding, we could synthesize the singing voice of the target speaker. In conclusion, we made a perfectly synced duet with the user's singing voice and the target singer's converted singing voice.

This paper presents Sinsy, a deep neural network (DNN)-based singing voice synthesis (SVS) system. In recent years, DNNs have been utilized in statistical parametric SVS systems, and DNN-based SVS systems have demonstrated better performance than conventional hidden Markov model-based ones. SVS systems are required to synthesize a singing voice with pitch and timing that strictly follow a given musical score. Additionally, singing expressions that are not described on the musical score, such as vibrato and timing fluctuations, should be reproduced. The proposed system is composed of four modul…
