Slepton coannihilation is one of the most promising scenarios that can bring the predicted Dark Matter (DM) abundance in the the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) into agreement with the experimental observation. In this scenario, the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP), usually assumed to be the lightest neutralino, can serve as a Dark Matter (DM) candidate while the sleptons as the next-to-LSPs (NLSPs) lie close in mass. In our previous studies analyzing the electroweak (EW) sector of MSSM, a degeneracy between the three generations of sleptons was assumed for the sake of simplicity. In case of slepton coannihilation this directly links the smuons involved in the explanation for $(g-2)_μ$ to the coannihilating NLSPs required to explain the DM content of the universe. On the other hand, in well-motivated top-down models such degeneracy does not hold, and often the lighter stau turns out to be the NLSP at the EW scale, with the smuons (and selectrons) somewhat heavier. In this paper we analyze a non-universal slepton mass scenario at the EW scale where the first two generations of sleptons are taken to be mass-degenerate and heavier than the staus, enforcing stau coannihilation. We analyze the parameter space of the MSSM in the light of a variety of experimental data namely, the DM relic density and direct detection (DD) limits, LHC data and especially, the discrepancy between the experimental result for $(g-2)_μ$, and its Standard Model (SM) prediction. We find an upper limit on the LSP and NLSP masses of about ~ 550 GeV. In contrast to the scenario with full degeneracy among the three families of sleptons, the upper limit on the light smuon/selectron mass moves up by ~ 200 GeV. We analyze the DD prospects as well as the physics potential of the HL-LHC and a future high-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider to investigate this scenario further.
The stau-neutralino coannihilation provides a feasible way to accommodate the observed cosmological dark matter (DM) relic density in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). In such a coannihilation mechanism the stau mass usually has an upper bound since its annihilation rate becomes small with the increase of DM mass. Inspired by this observation, we examine the upper limit of stau mass in the parameter space with a large mixing of staus. We find that the stau pair may dominantly annihilate into dibosons and hence the upper bound on the stau mass ($\sim400$ GeV) obtained from the $…
We examine the stau-neutralino coannihilation (CA) mechanism of the early universe. We use the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model and show that from measurements at the Large Hadron Collider one can predict the dark matter relic density with an uncertainty of 6% with 30 fb-1 of data, which is comparable to the direct measurement by Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe. This is done by measuring four mSUGRA parameters m0, m1/2, A0 and tan(beta) without requiring direct measurements of the top squark and bottom squark masses. We also provide precision measurements of the gaugino, squark, and li…
The minimal supersymmetric standard model with universal boundary conditions and "asymptotic" Yukawa unification is considered. The full one-loop effective potential for radiative electroweak symmetry breaking as well as the one-loop corrections to the charged Higgs boson, b-quark and tau lepton masses are included. The CP-even Higgs boson masses are corrected to two-loops. The relic abundance of the lightest supersymmetric particle (bino) is calculated by including its coannihilations with the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (lightest stau) consistently with Yukawa unification. The b…
We study the feasibility of detecting the stau neutralino (stau_1-neutralino_1)coannihilation region at the LHC using tau leptons. The signal is characterized by multiple low energy tau leptons from neutralino_2-->tau stau_1-->tau tau neutralino_1 decays, where the stau_1 and neutralino_1 mass difference (Delta M) is constrained to be 5-15 GeV by current experimental bounds including the bound on the amount of neutralino cold dark matter. Within the framework of minimal supergravity models, we show that if hadronically decaying tau's can be identified with 50% efficiency for visible pt >20 GeV…
The lack of observation of supersymmetry thus far implies that the weak supersymmetry scale is larger than what was thought before the LHC era. This observation is strengthened by the Higgs boson mass measurement at $\sim 125$ GeV which within supersymmetric models implies a large loop correction and a weak supersymmetry scale lying in the several TeV region. In addition if neutralino is the dark matter, its relic density puts further constraints on models often requiring coannihilation to reduce the neutralino relic density to be consistent with experimental observation. The coannihilation in…
We calculate the relic density of stau at the beginning of the Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) era in the coannihilation scenario of minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). In this scenario, stau can be long-lived and form bound states with nuclei. We put constraints on the parameter space of MSSM by connecting the calculation of the relic density of stau to the observation of the light elements abundance, which strongly depends on the relic density of stau. Consistency between the theoretical prediction and the observational result, both of the dark matter abundance and the light element…
Near the tip of the stau coannihilation strip in the CMSSM with a neutralino LSP, the astrophysical cold dark matter density constraint forces the stau-neutralino mass difference to be small. If this mass difference is smaller than the tau mass, the stau may decay either in the outer part of an LHC detector - the `disappearing track' signature - or be sufficiently long-lived to leave the detector before decaying - the long-lived massive charged-particle signature. We combine searches for these signatures with conventional missing transverse energy searches during LHC Run 1, identifying the sma…
We present a feasibility study, to search for dark matter at the LHC, in events with one soft hadronically decaying tau lepton and missing transverse energy recoiling against a hard $p_{T}$ jet from initial state radiation. This methodology allows the search for Supersymmetry in compressed mass spectra regions, where the mass difference between the lightest neutralino, $\tildeχ_1^0$, and the stau (the tau superpartner), $\tildeτ$, is small. Several theoretical models predict a direct connection between thermal Bino dark matter and staus within this scenario. We show that compressed regions, no…
A scenario of the Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis is analyzed within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model which is consistent with a stau-neutralino coannihilation scenario to explain the relic abundance of dark matter. We find that we can account for the possible descrepancy of the abundance of $\mathrm{^{7}Li}$ between the observation and the prediction of the Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis by taking the mass of the neutralino as $300 \mathrm{GeV}$ and the mass difference between the stau and the neutralino as $(100 -- 120) MeV$. We can therefore simultaneously explain the abundance of the dark matt…
Simplified models have become a widely used and important tool to cover the more diverse phenomenology beyond constrained SUSY models. However, they come with a substantial number of caveats themselves, and great care needs to be taken when drawing conclusions from limits based on the simplified approach. To illustrate this issue with a concrete example, we examine the applicability of simplified model results to a series of full SUSY model points which all feature a small stau-LSP mass difference, and are compatible with electroweak and flavor precision observables as well as current LHC resu…
We consider the effects of neutralino-stau coannihilations on the cosmological relic density of the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) $χ$ in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM), particularly in the constrained MSSM in which universal supergravity inputs at the GUT scale are assumed. For much of the parameter space in these models, $χ$ is approximately a U(1) gaugino ${\tilde B}$, and constraints on the cosmological relic density $Ω_{\tilde B} h^2$ yield an upper bound on the bino mass. We show that in regions of parameter space for which the cosmological boun…
Assuming that the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) is the lightest neutralino, we present a detailed exploration of neutralino-stau coannihilation channels, including analytical expressions and numerical results. We also include neutralino coannihilations with the selectron and smuon. We evaluate the implications of coannihilations for the cosmological relic density of the LSP, which is assumed to be stable, in the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), in which the soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters are universal at the supergravity GUT scale. We…
A recent global fit to the CMSSM incorporating current constraints on supersymmetry, including missing transverse energy searches at the LHC, BR(B_s to mu+ mu-) and the direct XENON100 search for dark matter, favours points towards the end of the stau-neutralino (stau_1- chi) coannihilation strip with relatively large m_1/2 and 10 < tan beta < 40 and points in the H/A rapid-annihilation funnel with tan beta ~ 50. The coannihilation points typically have m_stau_1-m_chi < 5 GeV, and a significant fraction, including the most-favoured point, has m_stau_1-m_chi < m_tau. In such a case, the stau_1 …
We discuss the possible enhancement of the tau lepton events at LHC when the left-handed stau doublet becomes light (which can be even lighter than the right-handed stau). This is illustrated in the constrained supersymmetric seesaw model where the slepton doublet mass is suppressed by the effects of a large neutrino Yukawa coupling. We study a few representative parameter sets in the sneutrino coannihilation regions where the tau sneutrino is NLSP and the stau coannihilation regions where the stau is NLSP both of which yield the thermal neutralino LSP abundance determined by WMAP.
We have studied the detection of long-lived staus at the IceCube neutrino telescope, after their production inside the Earth through the inelastic scattering of high energy neutrinos. The theoretical predictions for the stau flux are calculated in two scenarios in which the presence of long-lived staus is naturally associated to viable supersymmetric dark matter. Namely, we consider the cases with superWIMP (gravitino or axino) and neutralino dark matter (along the coannihilation region). In both scenarios the maximum value of the stau flux turns out to be about 1 event/yr in regions with a li…
A neutralino relic density in accord with WMAP measurements can be found in the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model in several regions of parameter space: the stau co-annihilation corridor at low m_0 and the hyperbolic branch/focus point (HB/FP) region at large m_0 at the edges of parameter space, and the bulk and Higgs boson funnel regions within. In the regions at the edge, the mass gap between the next-to-lightest SUSY particle (NLSP) and the lightest SUSY particle (LSP) becomes small, and backgrounds from $γγ\to f\bar{f}$ ($f$ is a SM fermion) become important for NLSP detection at an $e^+…
If new phenomena beyond the Standard Model will be discovered at the LHC, the properties of the new particles could be determined with data from the High-Luminosity LHC and from a future linear collider like the ILC. We discuss the possible interplay between measurements at the two accelerators in a concrete example, namely a full SUSY model which features a small stau_1-LSP mass difference. Various channels have been studied using the Snowmass 2013 combined LHC detector implementation in the Delphes simulation package, as well as simulations of the ILD detector concept from the Technical Desi…
In the supersymmetric models, the coannihilation of the neutralino DM with a lighter supersymmetric particle provides a feasible way to accommodate the observed cosmological DM relic density. Such a mechanism predicts a compressed spectrum of the neutralino DM and its coannihilating partner, which results in the soft final states and makes the searches for sparticles challenging at colliders. On the other hand, the abundance of the freeze-out neutralino DM usually increases as the DM mass becomes heavier. This implies an upper bound on the mass of the neutralino DM. Given these observations, w…
Coannihilation effects in neutralino relic density calculations are examined for a full range of supersymmetry parameters including large \tanβand large A_0 for stau, chargino, stop and sbottom coannihilation with the neutralino. Supergravity models possessing grand unification with universal soft breaking (mSUGRA), models with nonuniversal soft breaking in the Higgs and third generation sparticles, and D-brane models with nonuniversal gaugino masses were analysed. Unlike low \tanβwhere m_0 is generally small, stau coannihilation corridors with high \tanβare highly sensitive to A_0, and large …
We consider two classes of t-b-tau quasi-Yukawa unification scenarios which can arise from realistic supersymmetric SO(10) and SU(4)_C X SU(2)_L X SU(2)_R models. We show that these scenarios can be successfully implemented in the CMSSM and NUHM1 frameworks, and yields a variety of sparticle spectra with WMAP compatible neutralino dark matter. In NUHM1 we find bino-higgsino dark matter as well as the stau coannihilation and A-funnel solutions. The CMSSM case yields the stau coannihilation and A-funnel solutions. The gluino and squark masses are found to lie in the TeV range.
We study the naturalness, dark matter, and muon anomalous magnetic moment in the Supersymmetric Standard Models (SSMs) with a pseudo-Dirac gluino (PDGSSMs) from hybrid $F-$ and $D-$term supersymmetry (SUSY) breakings. To obtain the observed dark matter relic density and explain the muon anomalous magnetic moment, we find that the low energy fine-tuning measures are larger than about 30 due to strong constraints from the LUX and PANDAX experiments. Thus, to study the natural PDGSSMs, we consider multi-component dark matter and then the relic density of the lighest supersymmetric particle (LSP) …
We investigate the signals of a supersymmetric scenario where the lighter tau-sneutrino is the lightest supersymmetric particle, while the lighter stau-state is the next lightest. We confirm that such a scenario can be motivated within the framework of minimal supergravity, with just the addition of a right-chiral neutrino superfield. Such a spectrum leads to rather unusual signals of supersymmetry, showing stable tracks of the stau in the muon chambers. We have studied two types of signals, namely, (a) two or more hard jets and two stau tracks, and (b) hard jets with two muons and two stau tr…
We analyze the prospects of observing lepton flavour violation in future e-e- and e+e- linear colliders in scenarios where the gravitino is the lightest supersymmetric particle, and the stau is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle. The signals consist of multilepton final states with two heavily ionizing charged tracks produced by the long-lived staus. The Standard Model backgrounds are very small and the supersymmetric backgrounds can be kept well under control by the use of suitable kinematical cuts. We discuss in particular the potential of the projected International Linear Collide…
The properties of the light charged sleptons in $\ser\ser$, $\smur\smur$ and $\stau_1\stau_1$ production are studied within the mSUGRA scenario SPS 1a. Various method are presented to determine very precisely masses, angular distributions, spin and couplings as well as the $\stau_1$ polarisation and mixing parameter in the $\stau$ sector. The analysis is based on a complete simulation of signal and background reactions assuming experimental conditions of the TESLA $e^+e^-$ Linear Collider.
In this work, we study the light stop pair signals at the large hadron collider (LHC) in three coannihilation scenarios. In order to yield the desired dark matter (DM) relic density, the neutralino can coannihilate with stop, chargino and stau, respectively. Signatures of the first scenario can be probed at the LHC via the associated jet production processes $pp \to j + {\tilde t} {\tilde t}^*$ by tagging an energetic mono-jet and a large missing transverse energy. The signatures of the other two scenarios can be searched via the pair production process $pp \to {\tilde t} {\tilde t}^*$ by tagg…
Supersymmetry (SUSY) is a theory that gives an explanation for the strong and electroweak interactions from the grand unification scale down to the weak scale. The search for supersymmetric particles still continues at full speed at the LHC without success. The main tasks at the ILC is complementing the LHC result and also search for new physics. In this study, the neutralino pair production via photon-photon collision is studied for the $\tilde{t}$-coannihilation scenario in the context of MSSM at the ILC. In the calculation, all the possible one-loop diagrams are taken into account for the p…
In the context of a SUSY GUT inspired MSSM version, the low energy consequences of the asymptotic $b-τ$ Yukawa coupling Unification are examined, under the assumption of universal or non-universal boundary conditions for the gaugino and sfermion masses. Gaugino non-universality is applied, so that the SUSY corrections to $b$-quark mass can be reconciled with the present experimental data on muon anomalous magnetic moment. Restrictions on the parameter space, originating from the Cold Dark Matter abundance in the universe, the inclusive branching ratio of $b\to sγ$ and the accelerator data are,…
We probe the stau-neutralino co-annihilation domain of the parameter space allowed by the current experimental bounds on the light Higgs mass, the b-> s γdecay, and the amount of neutralino cold dark matter within the framework of minimal SUGRA models at a 500 GeV e+e- linear collider. The most favorable signals of SUSY are stau pair production and neutralino pair production where the small mass difference between the lighter stau and the lightest neutralino in the co-annihilation region is ~5-15 GeV and hence generates low-energy tau leptons in the final state. This small mass difference woul…
In supersymmetric models with a long-lived stau being the lightest Standard Model superpartner, the stau abundance during primordial nucleosynthesis is tightly constrained. Considering the complete set of stau annihilation channels in the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with real parameters for scenarios in which sparticle coannihilations are negligible, we calculate the decoupling of the lighter stau from the primordial plasma and identify processes which are capable to deplete the resulting stau abundance significantly. We find particularly efficient stau annihilation at the res…
We investigate flavour violating decays of the long-lived lightest slepton and the tau lepton in the coannihilation region of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with a Seesaw mechanism to generate neutrino masses. We consider a situation where the mass difference between the lightest neutralino, as the Lightest Supersymmetric particle (LSP), and the lightest slepton, as the Next-to-LSP, is smaller than the mass of tau lepton. In this situation, the lifetime of the lightest slepton is very long and it is determined by lepton flavour violating (LFV) couplings because the slepton mainly co…
We discuss pair production and decays of stops, sbottoms, $τ$-sneutrinos, and staus in $e^+e^-$ annihilation in the energy range $\sqrt{s} = 500 GeV$ to 2 TeV. Numerical predictions within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) for cross sections and decay rates are presented. We study the stop discovery potential for $\sqrt{s} = 500 GeV$ and $10 \fb^{-1}$ integrated luminosity for polarized e^- beams. Moreover, we give an estimate of the error of the soft-breaking stop and sbottom parameters that can be obtained by cross section measurements with polarized e^- beams.
We discuss pair production and decays of stops, sbottoms, and staus in $e^+e^-$ annihilation in the energy range $\sqrt{s}$ = 500 GeV to 2 TeV. We present numerical predictions within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model for cross sections and decay rates. We study the stop discovery potential for $\sqrt{s}$ = 500 GeV and $10~\fb^{-1}$ integrated luminosity with full statistics background simulation.
We study the stau lifetime in a scenario with the LSP taken to be a neutralino and the NLSP being a stau, based on the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model. The mass difference between the LSP and NLSP, $δm$, must satisfy $δm/m_{\tildeχ} \sim$ a few % or less for coannihilation to occur, where $m_{\tildeχ}$ is the neutralino mass. We calculate the stau lifetime from the decay modes $\tildeτ\to \tildeχτ$, $\tildeχν_τπ$, and $\tildeχν_τμ(e)ν_{μ(e)}$ and discuss its dependence on various parameters. We find that the lifetime is in the range $10^{-22}$--$10^{16}$ sec for $10^{-2} \le δm \le 10$ G…
The coannihilation mechanism is a well-motivated alternative to the simple thermal freeze-out mechanism, where the dark matter relic density can be obtained through the coannihilation with a partner particle of similar mass with dark matter. When the partner particle is neutral, the inelastic nature of dark matter can help it to escape the direct detection limits. In this work, we focus on the coannihilation scenario in which the annihilation cross section is dominated by the partner-partner pair annihilation. We pay special interest on the parameter space where the coannihilation partner is l…
It is shown that LHC data can allow one to decode the mechanism by which dark matter is generated in the early universe in supersymmetric theories. We focus on two of the major mechanisms for such generation of dark matter which are known to be the Stau Coannihilation (Stau-Co) where the neutralino is typically Bino like and annihilation on the Hyperbolic Branch (HB) where the neutralino has a significant Higgsino component. An investigation of how one may discriminate between the Stau-Co region and the HB region using LHC data is given for the mSUGRA model. The analysis utilizes several signa…
We discuss the interplay between LHC signatures and the mechanism by which dark matter is generated in the early universe in supersymmetric theories. The LHC signatures of two of the major mechanisms for such generation of dark matter which are known to be the Stau Coannihilation (Stau-Co) region and annihilation on the Hyperbolic Branch (HB) are exhibited in detail. By analyzing the various LHC signatures, including multi leptons, hadronic jets, b-tagging, and missing transverse momentum, one can discriminate between the Stau-Co region and the HB region for the mSUGRA model. Interestingly, th…
The mSUGRA parameter space corresponding to light sleptons well within the reach of LHC and relatively light squarks and gluinos (mass $\le$ 1 TeV) has three regions consistent with the WMAP data on dark matter relic density and direct mass bounds from LEP 2. Each region can lead to distinct leptonic signatures from squark-gluino events during the early LHC experiments (integrated luminosity $\sim 10 ~fb^{-1}$ or even smaller). In the much studied stau-LSP coannihilation region with a vanishing common trilinear coupling ($A_0$) at the GUT scale a large fraction of the final states contain elec…
The cosmological relic density of the lightest supersymmetric particle of the minimal supersymmetric standard model is calculated under the assumption of gauge and Yukawa coupling unification. We employ radiative electroweak breaking with universal boundary conditions from gravity-mediated supersymmetry breaking. Coannihilation of the lightest supersymmetric particle, which turns out to be an almost pure bino, with the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (the lightest stau) is crucial for reducing its relic density to an acceptable level. Agreement with the mixed or the pure cold (in the …
Simplified models of the dark matter (co)annihilation mechanism predict striking new collider signatures untested by current searches. These models, which were codified in the coannihilation codex, provide the basis for a dark matter (DM) discovery program at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) driven by the measured DM relic density. In this work, we study an exemplary model featuring $s$-channel DM coannihilation through a scalar diquark mediator as a representative case study of scenarios with strongly interacting coannihilation partners. We discuss the full phenomenology of the model, ranging …
We propose and analyse a GUT-inspired version of the MSSM featuring non universal sfermion masses boundary conditions and asymptotic b-tau Yukawa coupling unification. The particle spectrum of the model gives rise to extended coannihilation processes, involving the lightest sbottom and the tau sneutrino. We study the allowed parameter space, subject to cosmo-phenomenological requirements, and the details of the new coannihilations modes. Implications for direct and indirect neutralino searches, as well as for collider physics, are also briefly summarized.
A study is presented illustrating the excellent potential of future International Linear Collider (ILC) experiments to detect metastable staus $\stau$, measure precisely their mass and lifetime, and to determine the mass of the gravitino $\sG$ from the decay $\stau\toτ\sG$, thus providing direct access to the gravitational coupling, respectively Planck scale.
We explore the implications of resolving the muon g-2 anomaly in a SU(4)_c x SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R model, where the soft supersymmetry breaking scalar and gaugino masses break the left-right (LR) symmetry. A 2 sigma resolution of the anomaly requires relatively light sleptons, chargino and LSP neutralino. The stau turns out to be the NLSP of mass <~ 400 GeV, and the sleptons from the first two families can be as heavy as about 800 GeV. The chargino is also required to be lighter than about 600 GeV to accommodate the muon g-2 solutions consistent with the dark matter relic density constraint. The d…
In thermal dark matter models, allowing the dark matter candidate to coannihilate with another particle can considerably loosen the relic density constraints on the dark matter mass. In particular, introducing a single strongly interacting coannihilation partner in a dark matter model can bring the upper bound on the dark sector energy scale from a few TeV up to about 10 TeV. While these energies are outside the LHC reach, a large part of the parameter space for such coannihilating models can be explored by future hadron colliders. In this context, it is essential to determine whether the curr…
The SUSY signals in the dominant stau-neutralino coannihilation region at a 500(800) GeV linear collider are investigated. The region is consistent with the WMAP measurement of the cold dark matter relic density as well as all other current experimental bounds within the mSUGRA framework. The signals are characterized by an existence of very low-energy tau leptons in the final state due to small mass difference between stau_1 and chi_1 (5-15 GeV). We study the accuracy of the mass difference measurement with a 1^deg active mask to reduce a huge SM two-photon background.
Motivated by UV explanations of the $B$-physics anomalies, we study a dark sector containing a Majorana dark matter candidate and a coloured coannihilation partner, connected to the Standard Model predominantly via a $U_1$ vector leptoquark. A TeV scale $U_1$ leptoquark, which couples mostly to third generation fermions, is the only successful single-mediator description of the $B$-physics anomalies. After calculating the dark matter relic surface, we focus on the most promising experimental avenue: LHC searches for the coloured coannihilation partner. We find that the coloured partner hadroni…
Different mechanisms operate in various regions of the MSSM parameter space to bring the relic density of the lightest neutralino, neutralino_1, assumed here to be the LSP and thus the Dark Matter (DM) particle, into the range allowed by astrophysics and cosmology. These mechanisms include coannihilation with some nearly-degenerate next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP) such as the lighter stau (stau_1), stop (stop_1) or chargino (chargino_1), resonant annihilation via direct-channel heavy Higgs bosons H/A, the light Higgs boson h or the Z boson, and enhanced annihilation via a larger…
We performed an analysis on the detection of a long-lived slepton at a linear collider with $\sqrt{s}=500$ GeV. In GMSB models a long-lived NLSP is predicted for large value of the supersymmetry breaking scale $\sqrt{F}$. Furthermore in a large portion of the parameter space this particle is a stau. Such heavy charged particles will leave a track in the tracking volume and hit the muonic detector. In order to disentangle this signal from the muon background, we explore kinematics and particle identification tools: time of flight device, dE/dX and Cerenkov devices. We show that a linear collide…

The Higgs boson mass and the abundance of dark matter constrain the CMSSM/mSUGRA supersymmetry breaking inputs. A complete map of the CMSSM that is consistent with these two measured quantities is provided. Various "continents," consisting of non-excluded models, can be organized by their dark matter dynamics. The following mechanisms manifest: well-tempering, resonant pseudo-scalar Higgs annihilation, neutralino/stau coannihilations and neutralino/stop coannihilations. Benchmark models are chosen in order to characterize the viable regions. The expected visible signals of each are described, …
Supersymmetric scenarios with a very weakly interacting lightest superparticle (LSP) - like the gravitino or axino - naturally give rise to a long-lived next-to-LSP (NLSP). In the case of a stau NLSP, the scenario shows up in a very prominent way at colliders. We present the LHC sensitivity for these classes of scenarios in the framework of simplified models. This allows for deriving robust limits on the masses of the lightest stau, the gluino and squarks.
We consider scenarios in which the lightest sparticle (LSP) is the gravitino and the next-to-lightest sparticle (NLSP) is a metastable stau. We examine the production of stau pairs in e^{+}e^{-} annihilation at ILC and CLIC energies. In addition to three minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) benchmark scenarios proposed previously, we consider a new high-mass scenario in which effects catalyzed by stau bound states yield abundances of {6,7}Li that fit the astrophysical data better than standard Big-Bang nucleosynthesis. This scenario could be probed only at CLIC energies. In each scenario, we show how…
The differential cross section of the chargino-neutralino production, q qbar --> chi+- chi0, followed by their decays into scalar tau leptons, chi+- chi0 --> (stau+- nu)(stau-+ tau+-) --> (stau+- nu)(stau-+ l+- nu nubar), is calculated including the effect of spin correlations. In the case where stau is long-lived, this final state can be fully reconstructed in a hadron-collider experiment up to a discrete two-fold ambiguity. Distributions of various kinematic variables can thus be observable and tell us about masses and spins of superparticles and also parity/CP violation in interactions by c…
We calculate dominant cross section contributions for stau pair production at hadron colliders within the MSSM, taking into account left-right mixing of the stau eigenstates. We find that b-quark annihilation and gluon fusion can enhance the cross sections by more than one order of magnitude with respect to the Drell-Yan predictions. These additional production channels are not yet included in the common Monte Carlo analysis programs and have been neglected in experimental analyses so far. For long-lived staus, we investigate differential distributions and prospects for their stopping in the c…
A feasibility study is presented to precisely measure the masses of charged sleptons and the lightest neutralino in $e^+e^-\to\smur\smur$ and $e^+e^-\to\stau_1\stau_1$ production. Different mSUGRA scenarios with small slepton-neutralino mass differences of a few GeV are invesigated. The analysis is based on a detailed simulation of the final state lepton energy spectra including background reactions and assuming realistic experimental conditions at the TESLA $e^+e^-$ Linear Collider. Effects on the mass resolutions due to beams colliding head-on or under a crossing angle are discussed.
We performed an analysis on the detection of a long lived stau at a linear collider with $\sqrt{s}=500$ GeV. In GMSB models a long lived NLSP is predicted for large value of the supersymmetry breaking scale F. Furthermore in a large portion of the parameter space this particle is a stau. Such heavy charged particles will leave a track in the tracking volume and hit the muon detector. In order to disentangle this signal from the muon background we explore kinematics and particle identification tools: time of flight device, dE/dX and Cerenkov devices.
We discuss the extent to which models of Weakly Interacting Massive Particle (WIMP) Dark Matter (DM) at and above the electroweak scale can be probed conclusively in future high energy and astroparticle physics experiments. We consider simplified models with bino-like dark matter and slepton-like coannihilation partners, and find that perturbative models yield the observed relic abundance up to at least 10 TeV. We emphasise that coannihilation can either increase or decrease the dark matter relic abundance. We compute the sensitivity of direct detection experiments to DM-nucleus scattering, co…
Little Higgs models with $T$-parity provide a stable neutral particle $A_H$, the lightest $T$-odd particle (LTP), which was recently proposed to explain the cold dark matter of the Universe. In the coannihilation region of the LTP with the Little Higgs partner of the light quark $Q_H$, we propose novel signatures for its detection at hadronic colliders by searching for monojet and dijet plus missing energy events due to the associated production of $Q_H A_H$ and direct production of $Q_H \bar{Q}_H$, respectively. Using the most recent WMAP data, we show that the coupling of $A_H$-$Q_H$-$q$ is …
One of the most interesting channels to search for SUSY is the direct pair-production of the $τ$-lepton superpartner, $\widetildeτ$. The $\widetildeτ$ is with high probability the lightest of the scalar leptons, so one of the first SUSY particles that can be observerd, and the signature of $\widetildeτ$ pair production signal events is one of the most difficult ones, yielding to the ``worst'' and so most global scenario for the searches. Analysis performed at LEP set the current model-independent $\widetildeτ$ limits, suffering from the low energy of this facility. Only under strong model assu…
The construction of specific supersymmetric grand unified models based on the Pati-Salam gauge group and leading to a set of Yukawa quasi-unification conditions which can allow an acceptable b-quark mass within the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model with mu>0 is briefly reviewed. Imposing constraints from the cold dark matter abundance in the universe, B physics, and the mass mh of the lighter neutral CP-even Higgs boson, we find that there is an allowed parameter space with, approximately, 44<tanbeta<52, -3<A0/M_{1/2}<0.1, 122<mh/GeV<127, and mass of the lightest sparticle in t…
