In this paper, we investigate the properties of standard and multilevel Monte Carlo methods for weak approximation of solutions of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) driven by the infinite-dimensional Wiener process and Poisson random measure with Lipschitz payoff function. The error of the truncated dimension randomized numerical scheme, which is determined by two parameters, i.e grid density $n \in \mathbb{N}_{+}$ and truncation dimension parameter $M \in \mathbb{N}_{+},$ is of the order $n^{-1/2}+δ(M)$ such that $δ(\cdot)$ is positive and decreasing to $0$. We derive complexity model and provide proof for the upper complexity bound of the multilevel Monte Carlo method which depends on two increasing sequences of parameters for both $n$ and $M.$ The complexity is measured in terms of upper bound for mean-squared error and compared with the complexity of the standard Monte Carlo algorithm. The results from numerical experiments as well as Python and CUDA C implementation are also reported.
In this paper we deal with pointwise approximation of solutions of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) driven by infinite dimensional Wiener process with additional jumps generated by Poisson random measure. The further investigations contain upper error bounds for the proposed truncated dimension randomized Euler scheme. We also establish matching (up to constants) upper and lower bounds for $\varepsilon$-complexity and show that the defined algorithm is optimal in the Information-Based Complexity (IBC) sense. Finally, results of numerical experiments performed by using GPU architecture …
In this paper, we present a generic methodology for the efficient numerical approximation of the density function of the McKean-Vlasov SDEs. The weak error analysis for the projected process motivates us to combine the iterative Multilevel Monte Carlo method for McKean-Vlasov SDEs \cite{szpruch2019} with non-interacting kernels and projection estimation of particle densities \cite{belomestny2018projected}. By exploiting smoothness of the coefficients for McKean-Vlasov SDEs, in the best case scenario (i.e $C^{\infty}$ for the coefficients), we obtain the complexity of order $O(ε^{-2}|\logε|^4)$…
In this paper we deal with global approximation of solutions of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) driven by countably dimensional Wiener process. Under certain regularity conditions imposed on the coefficients, we show lower bounds for exact asymptotic error behaviour. For that reason, we analyse separately two classes of admissible algorithms: based on equidistant, and possibly not equidistant meshes. Our results indicate that in both cases, decrease of any method error requires significant increase of the cost term, which is illustrated by the product of cost and error diverging to in…
Inspired by recent progress in quantum algorithms for ordinary and partial differential equations, we study quantum algorithms for stochastic differential equations (SDEs). Firstly we provide a quantum algorithm that gives a quadratic speed-up for multilevel Monte Carlo methods in a general setting. As applications, we apply it to compute expectation values determined by classical solutions of SDEs, with improved dependence on precision. We demonstrate the use of this algorithm in a variety of applications arising in mathematical finance, such as the Black-Scholes and Local Volatility models, …
In this paper we consider Bayesian parameter inference for partially observed fractional Brownian motion (fBM) models. The approach we follow is to time-discretize the hidden process and then to design Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms to sample from the posterior density on the parameters given data. We rely on a novel representation of the time discretization, which seeks to sample from an approximation of the posterior and then corrects via importance sampling; the approximation reduces the time (in terms of total observation time T) by O(T). This method is extended by using a mult…
Stochastic PDE eigenvalue problems are useful models for quantifying the uncertainty in several applications from the physical sciences and engineering, e.g., structural vibration analysis, the criticality of a nuclear reactor or photonic crystal structures. In this paper we present a multilevel quasi-Monte Carlo (MLQMC) method for approximating the expectation of the minimal eigenvalue of an elliptic eigenvalue problem with coefficients that are given as a series expansion of countably-many stochastic parameters. The MLQMC algorithm is based on a hierarchy of discretisations of the spatial do…
Avikainen provided a sharp upper bound of the difference $\mathbb{E}[|g(X)-g(\widehat{X})|^{q}]$ by the moments of $|X-\widehat{X}|$ for any one-dimensional random variables $X$ with bounded density and $\widehat{X}$, and function of bounded variation $g$. In this article, we generalize this estimate to any one-dimensional random variable $X$ with Hölder continuous distribution function. As applications, we provide the rate of convergence for numerical schemes for solutions of one-dimensional stochastic differential equations (SDEs) driven by Brownian motion and symmetric $α$-stable with $α\in…
