In this work, we perform a QCD sum rules analysis on the $Ξ_{Q}-Ξ_{Q}^{\prime}$ mixing. Contributions from up to dimension-6 four-quark operators are considered. However, it turns out that, only dimension-4 and dimension-5 operators contribute, which reveals the non-perturbative nature of mixing. Especially we notice that only the diagrams with the two light quarks participating in gluon exchange contribute to the mixing. Our results indicate that the mixing angle $θ_{c}=(1.2\sim2.8)^{\circ}$ for the $Q=c$ case and $θ_{b}=(0.28\sim0.34)^{\circ}$ for the $Q=b$ case. Our prediction of $θ_{c}$ is consistent with the most recent Lattice QCD result within error. Such a small mixing angle seems unlikely to resolve the tension between the recent experimental measurement from Belle and Lattice QCD calculation for the semileptonic decay $Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{-} e^{+}ν_{e}$.
In the framework of perturbative QCD, the radiative decays $J/ψ\rightarrowγη^{(\prime)}$ are revisited in detail, where the involved one-loop integrals are evaluated analytically with the light quark masses kept. We have found that the sum of loop integrals is insensitive to the light quark masses and the branching ratios $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\rightarrowγη^{(\prime)})$ barely depend on the shapes of $η^{(\prime)}$ distribution amplitudes. With the parameters of $η-η^{\prime}$ mixing extracted from low energy processes and $J/ψ\rightarrowγη^{(\prime)}$ by means of nonperturbative matrix elements $\l…
Recent IceCube search results for sterile neutrino increased tension between the combined appearance and disappearance experiments. On the other hand, MiniBooNE latest data confirms at $4.9σ$ CL the short-baseline oscillation anomaly. We analyze published IceCube data based on two different active-sterile mixing schemes using one additional sterile neutrino flavor. We present exclusion regions in the parameter ranges $0.01 \le \sin^2 θ_{24} \le 0.1$ and $0.1~{\rm eV}^2 \le Δm^2_{42} \le 10~{\rm eV}^2$ for the mass-mixing and flavor-mixing schemes. Under the more conservative mass-mixing scheme…
In this review, we present a derivation of the on-shell renormalization conditions for scalar and fermionic fields in theories with and without parity conservation. We also discuss the specifics of Majorana fermions. Our approach only assumes a canonical form for the renormalized propagators and exploits the fact that the inverse propagators are non-singular in $\varepsilon = p^2 - m_n^2$, where $p$ is the external four-momentum and $m_n$ is a pole mass. In this way, we obtain full agreement with commonly used on-shell conditions. We also discuss how they are implemented in renormalization.
Revisiting Bimaximal Neutrino Mixing in a Model with S4 Discrete Symmetry
The $P$-wave charmonium decays $h_{c}\rightarrowγη^{(\prime)}$ are revisited by taking into account relativistic corrections. The decay amplitudes are derived in the Bethe-Salpeter formalism, in which the involved one-loop integrals are evaluated analytically. Intriguingly, from both the quark-antiquark content and the gluonic content of $η^{(\prime)}$, the relativistic corrections make significant contributions to the decay rates of $h_{c}\rightarrowγη^{(\prime)}$. By comparison with the leading-order contributions from the quark-antiquark content (one-loop level), the ones from the gluonic c…
Supersymmetric $SO(10)$ grand unified models with renormalizable Yukawa couplings involving only ${\bf 10}$ and $\overline{\bf 126}$ Higgs fields have been shown to realize the fermion masses and mixings economically. In previous works, the sum rule of the fermion mass matrices are given by inputting the quark matrices, and the neutrino mixings are predicted in this framework. Now the three neutrino mixings have been measured, and in this paper, we give the sum rule by inputting the lepton mass matrices, which makes clear certain features of the solution, especially if the vacuum expectation v…
We study the possibility of texture zeros in Majorana light neutrino mass matrix in the light of dark large mixing angle (DLMA) solution to solar neutrino problem where solar mixing angle ($\sin^2{θ_{12}}\simeq 0.7 $) lies in the second octant instead of first octant in standard large mixing angle (LMA) scenario ($\sin^2{θ_{12}}\simeq 0.3 $). In three neutrino scenario, we find that LMA and DLMA solutions lead to different set of allowed and disallowed textures with one and two zeros. While being consistent with existing bounds from neutrino oscillation data, neutrinoless double beta decay and…
The Type-II seesaw model is a well-motivated new physics scenario to address the origin of the neutrino mass issue. We show that this model can easily accommodate an absolutely stable vacuum until the Planck scale, however with strong limit on the exotic scalar masses and the corresponding mixing angle. We examine the model prediction at the current and future high luminosity run of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for the scalar masses and mixing angles fixed at such high-scale valid region. Specifically, we device the associated and pair production of the charged scalars as a new probe of the…
We enumerate various effective couplings that contribute to the mixings between an exotic vector boson $Z^{\prime}$ and the neutral electroweak vector bosons. The miscellaneous mixing patterns can be evaluated perturbatively. The effective oblique parameters $S^{\prime}$, $T^{\prime}$, and $U^{\prime}$ are calculated to compare with the electroweak precision test results. With the contributions to the non-negligible $U^{\prime}$ parameter from the $ε_{B,W}$ parameters and the aid of some other parameters to cancel the negative $T^{\prime}$, the recent CDF $W$-mass anomaly can therefore be expl…
In this work we study the interactions of the $Z$ and $Z^{\prime}$ generated by kinetic mixing in a class of theories for physics beyond the standard model motivated by the dark matter problem, containing a spontaneously broken extra $U(1)_{d}$ gauge factor group in a hidden scenario and a Higgs sector respecting custodial symmetry. It is shown that custodial symmetry allows us to write the $Z$ and $Z^{\prime}$ couplings to standard model fermions in terms of the measured values of $α$, $G_{F}$, $M_{Z}$ and $M_{Z^{\prime}}$. Working at the loop level, we calculate the ratio $ρ_{0}=M^{2}_{W}/\h…
In this work we consider the extension of the standard model by dark fields with an Abelian $U(1)_{d}$ spontaneously broken gauge symmetry in a hidden dark matter scenario. Considering all the dimension four gauge invariant terms we show that the tree-level relation $M^{2}_{W}=M^{2}_{\tilde Z} \cos^{2} \tilde θ_{w}$ holds and permits to write the mixing angle induced by the kinetic mixing in the neutral massive gauge boson sector, $θ_ζ$, in terms of the values of $M_{Z}$, the weak mixing angle and of the mass of the physical dark gauge $Z^{\prime}$ boson. At the loop level, a similar relation …
The axial anomaly is responsible for the masses and mixing of the mesons $η$ and $η'$. An open question is if (and to what extent) it affects also other hadrons. We show that anomalous terms can be important to understand the spectroscopy of the pseudotensor mesons $η_2 (1645)$ and $η_2 (1870)$. In fact, pseudotensor mesons belong to a so-called heterochiral multiplet, for which a quadratic mixing term between nonstrange and strange isoscalar members arises. On the contrary, for so-called homochiral multiplets, such as the ground-state (axial-)vector and tensor mesons, this mixing is not possi…
We revisit the mixing mechanism for pesudscalar mesons and glueball which is introduced by the axial vector anomaly. We demonstrate that the physical mass of the pseudoscalar glueball does not favor to be lower than 1.8 GeV if all the parameters are reasonably constrained. This conclusion, on the one hand, can accommodate the pseudoscalar glueball mass calculated by Lattice QCD, and on the other hand, is consistent with the high-statistics analyses at BESIII that all the available measurements do not support the presence of two closely overlapping pseudoscalar states in any exclusive channel. …
We re-examine possible dependencies on redshift of the spectral parameters of blazars observed at very-high energies (VHEs) with Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes (IACTs). This is relevant to assess potential effects with the source distance of the photon to axion-like particle (ALP) mixing, that would deeply affect the propagation of VHE photons across the Universe. We focus our spectral analysis on 38 BL Lac objects (32 high-peaked and 6 intermediate-peaked) up to redshift $z\simeq 0.5$, and a small sample of 5 Flat Spectrum Radio Quasars up to $z=1$ treated independently to increase …
Assuming the existence of an eV or KeV scale sterile neutrino, we develop a 3+1 neutrino mass model using $A_4\times Z_4 \times Z_2$ symmetry group. Three Higgs $H, H^{\prime}$ and $H^{\prime\prime}$ are considered to give a desired neutrino mass matrix which generates non-zero $θ_{13}$. The model can give neutrino mixing parameters that are well within the experimental 3$σ$ bounds. We also calculate the $4\times 4$ active-sterile neutrino mixing matrix, and it is found to be consistent with experimental bounds.
Many $P-$wave mixing heavy-light $1^+$ states have not been discovered by experiment, some of them have been discovered but without the information of width, or with large uncertainty widths. In this paper, we study the strong decays of $P-$wave mixing heavy-light $1^+$ states $D^0$, $D^\pm$, $D_s^\pm$, $B^0$, $B^\pm$ and $B_s$ by the improved Bethe-Salpeter(B-S) method in two conditions of mixing angle $θ$: one is $θ=35.3^\circ$; another is considering the correction to mixing angle $θ=35.3^\circ+θ_1$. And we get some valuable predictions of the strong decay widths: $Γ(D_1^{\prime0})=232$ MeV…
A massive $U(1)^{\prime}$ gauge boson known as a "dark photon" or $A^{\prime}$, has long been proposed as a potential explanation for the discrepancy observed between the experimental measurement and theoretical determination of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, ($g_μ - 2$) anomaly. Recently, experimental results have excluded this possibility for a dark photon exhibiting exclusively visible or invisible decays. In this work, we revisit this idea and consider a model where $A^{\prime}$ couples inelastically to dark matter and an excited dark sector state, leading to a more exotic deca…
This article provides the calculation of an effective vertex function between a nucleon and a $Z^\prime$ boson that couples preferentially to either the top quark or the third generation of fermions, for the purpose of calculating vector-portal dark matter nuclear recoil cross sections. Mixing effects between the new gauge group $U(1)^\prime$ and the Standard Model hypercharge group $U(1)_Y$ are taken into account. Contributions to the $U(1)^\prime$ nucleon current from heavy quarks are quantified using the heavy quark expansion. Also taken into account are contributions from the 1-loop $Z^\pr…
We recalculate the branching ratio and CP asymmetry for $\bar{B}^{0} (B^{0})\to π^{0}π^{0}$ decays in the Perturbative QCD approach. In this approach, we consider all the possible diagrams including non-factorizable contributions and annihilation contributions. We obtain $Br(\bar{B}^{0} (B^{0})\to π^{0}π^{0})=(1.17_{-0.12}^{+0.11})\times 10^{-6}$. Our result is in agreement with the latest measured branching ratio of $B^{0}\toπ^{0}π^{0}$ by the Belle and HFAG Collaborations. We also predict large direct CP asymmetry and mixing CP asymmetry in $B^{0}\toπ^{0}π^{0}$ decays, which can be tested by…
The full CMS Run 2 datasets with time-integrated luminosity of 137 fb$^{-1}$ in the diboson channels are used to probe benchmark models with extended gauge sectors such as $E_6$, left-right symmetric (LR) and the sequential standard model (extended gauge model, EGM), that predict the existence of neutral $Z'$- and charged $W'$-bosons decaying to a pair of bosons $WW$, $ZH$, $WZ$ and $WH$ in the semileptonic final state. These benchmark models are used to interpret the results. Exclusion limits at the 95% C.L. on the $Z'$ and $W'$ resonance production cross section times branching ratio to elec…
