Cerium-based ternary compounds CeNi$_2$Cd$_{20}$ and CePd$_2$Cd$_{20}$ do not exhibit long-range order down to millikelvin temperature range. Given the large separation between cerium ions which significantly reduces the superexchange interactions and vanishingly small RKKY interaction, here we show that nodal superconductivity mediated by the valence fluctuations must be a ground state in these materials. We propose that the critical temperature for the superconducting transition can be significantly increased by applying hydrostatic pressure. We employ an extended periodic Anderson lattice model which includes the long-range Coulomb interactions between the itinerant electrons as well as the local Coulomb interaction between the predominantly localized and itinerant electrons to compute a critical temperature of the superconducting transition. Using the slave-boson approach we show that fluctuations mediated by the repulsive electron-electron interactions lead to the emergence of d-wave superconductivity.
Electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and specific heat measurements on single crystals of La$Tr_{2}$Al$_{20}$ ($Tr$ = Ti, V, Nb, and Ta) revealed that these four compounds exhibit weak-coupling superconductivity with transition temperatures $T_{\rm c}$ = 0.46, 0.15, 1.05, and 1.03 K, respectively. LaTi$_{2}$Al$_{20}$ is most probably a type-I superconductor, which is quite rare among intermetallic compounds. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction suggests "rattling" anharmonic large-amplitude oscillations of Al ions (16$c$ site) on the Al$_{16}$ cage, while no such feature is suggested f…
We report the synthesis and superconducting properties of a layered cage compound Ba3Rh4Ge16. Similar to Ba3Ir4Ge16, the compound is composed of 2D networks of cage units, formed by noncubic Rh-Ge building blocks, in marked contrast to the reported rattling compounds. The electrical resistivity, magnetization, specific heat capacity, and muSR measurements unveiled moderately coupled s-wave superconductivity with a critical temperature Tc = 7.0 K, the upper critical field ~ 2.5 T, the electron-phonon coupling strength ~ 0.80, and the Ginzburg-Landau parameter ~ 7.89. The mass reduction by the s…
Low-energy rattling modes and their effects on superconductivity are studied in the cage compound GaxV2Al20. A series of polycrystalline samples of 0 < x =< 0.6 are examined through resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and heat capacity measurements. A weak-coupling BCS superconductivity is observed below Tc = 1.4-1.7 K for all the samples. For small Ga contents below 0.20, approximately 30% of the cages are occupied by rattling Al atoms having an Einstein temperature TE of 23 K, probably with most Ga atoms substituting for the cage-forming Al atoms. For higher Ga contents, approximately 0.05…
We report the single-crystal synthesis and detailed investigations of the cage-type superconductor Sc5Ru6Sn18, using powder x-ray diffraction (XRD), magnetization, specific-heat and muon-spin relaxation (muSR) measurements. Sc5Ru6Sn18 crystallizes in a tetragonal structure (space group I41/acd) with the lattice parameters a = 1.387(3) nm and c = 2.641(5) nm. Both DC and AC magnetization measurements prove the type-II superconductivity in Sc5Ru6Sn18 with Tc = 3.5(1) K, a lower critical field H_c1 (0) = 157(9) Oe and an upper critical field, H_c2 (0) = 26(1) kOe. The zero-field electronic specif…
We have examined the superconducting ground state properties of the caged type compound Sc$_5$Rh$_6$Sn$_{18}$ using magnetization, heat capacity, and muon-spin relaxation or rotation ($μ$SR) measurements. Magnetization measurements indicate type-II superconductivity with an upper critical field $μ_0H_{c2}(0)$ = 7.24 T. The zero-field cooled and field cooled susceptibility measurements unveil an onset of diamagnetic signal below $T_{\bf c}$ = 4.4 K. The interpretation of the heat capacity results below $T_{\bf c}$ using the $α-$BCS model unveils the value of $α$ = 2.65, which gives the dimensio…
Located at crystal voids, interstitial anion electrons (IAEs) have diverse topologies, which may be tuned to achieve new properties. Elucidating the role of IAEs in electron-phonon coupling (EPC), and using it to design new electride superconductors, leads to the current prediction of superconducting Li8Au at high pressure. We suggest that the occurence of high-temperature superconductivity in electrides requires high-symmetry structures with hydrogen-like cages, an electron acceptor element to balance charges, and isolated IAEs coupled with medium-frequency vibrations. The uniquely designed L…
Polycrystalline samples of four intermetallic compounds: MV$_2$Al$_{20}$ (M = Sc, Y, La, and Lu) were synthesized using an arc-melting technique. The crystal structures were analyzed by means of powder x-ray diffraction and Rietveld analysis, and the physical properties were studied by means of heat capacity, electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements down to 0.4 K. For ScV$_2$Al$_{20}$, LuV$_2$Al$_{20}$, and YV$_2$Al$_{20}$, superconductivity was observed with critical temperatures T$_c$ = 1.00 K, 0.57 K, and 0.60 K, respectively. Superconductivity for the Lu compound is …
Sc5Rh6Sn18 with a cage-type quasiskutterudite crystal lattice and type II superconductivity, with superconducting transition temperature Tc = 4.99 K, was investigated under hydrostatic high-pressure (HP) using electrical transport, synchrotron X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy. Our data show that HP enhance the metallic nature and Tc of the system. Tc is found to show a continuous increase reaching to 5.24 K at 2.5 GPa. Athough the system is metallic in nature, Raman spectroscopy investigations at ambient pressure revealed the presence of three weak modes at 165.97, 219.86 and 230…
Boron-based clathrate materials, typically with three-dimensional networks of B atoms, have tunable properties through substitution of guest atoms, but the tuning of B cages themselves has not yet been developed. By combining crystal structural search with the laser-heated diamond anvil cell technique, we successfully synthesized a new B-based clathrate boride, LaB8, at ~108 GPa and ~2100 K. The novel structure has a B-richest cage, with 26 B atoms encapsulating a single La atom. LaB8 demonstrates phonon-mediated superconductivity with an estimated transition temperature of 14 K at ambient pre…
In this editorial, we first give a brief survey of the field of iron-selenide superconductivity, both in the case of bulk FeSe characterized by the co-existence of superconductivity and nematic order, and in the case of electron-doped FeSe characterized by high-temperature superconductivity. We next review the 8 contributions to the Frontiers in Physics research topic "High-Tc Superconductivity in Electron-Doped Iron Selenide and Related Compounds".
Compelling evidence for band-type conductivity and even bulk superconductivity below $T\_{\text{c}}\approx 8$ K has been found in $^{69,71}$Ga-NMR experiments in crystalline ordered, giant Ga$\_{84}$ cluster-compounds. This material appears to represent the first realization of a theoretical model proposed by Friedel in 1992 for superconductivity in ordered arrays of weakly coupled, identical metal nanoparticles.

Superconductivity above 25K, and possibly above 40K, has recently been discovered in $LaO_{1-x}F_xFeAs$ and related compounds. We propose that this is another example of the mechanism of hole superconductivity at play. This requires the existence of hole carriers at the Fermi energy, which appears to contradict current observations. We propose that two-band conduction is taking place in these materials, that the negative ion $As^{-3}$ plays a key role, and that superconductivity is non-phononic and driven by pairing and undressing of heavily dressed hole carriers to lower their kinetic energy.…
We present direct evidence of a superconducting state existing in the title compound below 300 mK under quasi-hydrostatic pressure. The superconducing transition is observed in the whole pressure range studied, 0 < P < 4 kbar. However, the character of the transition drastically changes with suppressing the charge-density wave state.
LaCuO_2.5 is a system of coupled, two-chain, cuprate ladders which may be doped systematically by Sr substitution. Motivated by the recent synthesis of single crystals, we investigate theoretically the possibility of superconductivity in this compound. We use a model of spin fluctuation-mediated superconductivity, where the pairing potential is strongly peaked at πin the ladder direction. We solve the coupled gap equations on the bonding and antibonding ladder bands to find superconducting solutions across the range of doping, and discuss their relevance to the real material.
We successfully synthesized the nickel-based compound GdONiBi with superconducting transition temperature about 4.5 K. By partially substituting the element Gd with Sr to introduce holes into the material, we got new superconductor Gd0.9Sr0.1ONiBi with critical temperature about 4.7 K. The normal state resistivity in nickel-based samples shows a metallic behavior. The magnetoresistance measurements show a different behavior compared to those in iron-based compounds which indicates that the mechanism in the two kinds of superconductors maybe different.
We report superconductivity in the ternary half-Heusler compound LuPtBi, with Tc = 1.0 K and Hc2 = 1.6 T. The crystal structure of LuPtBi lacks inversion symmetry, hence the material is a noncentrosymmetric superconductor. Magnetotransport data show semimetallic behavior in the normal state, which is evidence for the importance of spin-orbit interaction. Theoretical calculations indicate that the strong spin-orbit interaction in LuPtBi should cause strong band inversion, making this material a promising candidate for 3D topological superconductivity.
The appearance of superconductivity at ambient pressures in the undoped iron pnictide parent compound SrFe2As2 is studied experimentally using several techniques and approaches to aid in understanding the nature of this phase. Low temperature magnetization measurements of single crystals of SrFe2As2 reveal diamagnetic screening due to the onset of superconductivity below 21 K, with volume fraction estimates varying between 0 and 15 percent. The effects of heat treatment and cold-working via severe mechanical deformation on the superconducting phase found are studied, showing that superconducti…
The filled skutterudite compound \PrOsSb{} has been found to exhibit superconductivity with a critical temperature $T_\mathrm{c} = 1.85$ K that develops out of a heavy Fermi liquid with an effective mass $m^{*} \approx 50 m_\mathrm{e}$. The current experimental situation regarding the heavy fermion state, the superconducting state, and a high field, low temperature phase that is apparently associated with magnetic or quadrupolar order in \PrOsSb{} is briefly reviewed herein.
Recent discovery of high T_c superconductivity in Fe-based compounds may have opened a new pathway to the room temperature superconductivity. The new materials feature FeAs layers instead of the signature CuO_2 planes of much-studied cuprates. A model Hamiltonian describing FeAs layers is introduced, highlighting the crucial role of puckering of As atoms in promoting d-electron itinerancy and warding off large local-moment magnetism of Fe ions, the main enemy of superconductivity. Quantum many-particle effects in charge, spin and multiband channels are explored and a nesting-induced spin densi…
We succeeded in growing a single crystal of Ce2CoIn8 by the flux method. The results of specific heat and electrical resistivity measurements indicate that Ce2CoIn8 is a heavy-fermion superconductor below 0.4 K with an electronic specific heat coefficient gamma as large as 500 mJ/K^2mol-Ce.
We review the current state of experimental and theoretical investigations of heavy fermion superconductors. We discuss most of the Ce-based compounds like Ce122, Ce115, Ce218 and Ce131 classes and U-based superconductors like UBe_13 and UPd_2Al_3. In the former the emphasis is on the connection to quantum critical phenomena and non-Fermi liquid behaviour. Recent neutron scattering and hydrostatic pressure results on SDW/SC competition in the Ce122 system are included. For the U-compounds we discuss the significance of dual models with both localised and itinerant 5f electrons for mass enhance…
Recent advances on ferromagnetic superconductors, UGe2, URhGe and UCoGe are presented. The superconductivity (SC) peacefully coexists with the ferromagnetism (FM), forming the spin-triplet state of Cooper pairs. The striking new phenomena, such as SC reinforced by the magnetic field, are associated with Ising-type ferromagnetic fluctuations. A variety of ferromagnetic ordered moments between UGe2, URhGe and UCoGe affords to understand the relation between FM, tricriticality and SC.
Superconductivity in strongly correlated electron systems frequently emerges in proximity to another broken symmetry. In heavy-electron superconductors, the nearby ordered state most commonly is magnetism, and the so-called Ce115 heavy-electron compounds have been particularly instructive for revealing new relationships between magnetism and superconductivity. From measurements of the resistive and bulk transitions to superconductivity in these materials, we find that the resistive transition appears at a temperature considerably higher than the bulk transition when superconductivity and magne…
We report a study on the interplay between antiferromagnetism (AFM) and superconductivity (SC) in a heavy-fermion compound CeRhIn$_5$ under pressure $P=1.75$ GPa. The onset of the magnetic order is evidenced from a clear split of $^{115}$In-NQR spectrum due to the spontaneous internal field below the Néel temperature $T_N=2.5$ K. Simultaneously, bulk SC below $T_c=2.0$ K is demonstrated by the observation of the Meissner diamagnetism signal whose size is the same as in the exclusively superconducting phase. These results indicate that the AFM coexists homogeneously with the SC at a microscopic…
Superconductivity in a novel class of layered materials, Ti-based pnictide oxides, was recently discovered. These compounds have attracted interest since they combine features of copper oxide and iron pnictide superconductors. Here the transition metal (titanium) forms two-dimensional Ti$_2$O layers (anti structure to the CuO$_2$ planes), capped by pnictogen ions (similar to Fe$_2$As$_2$ layers). The pnictide oxide compounds show a spin or charge density wave phase which coexists with superconductivity in some members of the family. Unlike the cuprates, but similar to iron pnictides, the paren…
We propose a mew picture for superconductivity in $κ-(BEDT-TTF)_2X$ salts arguing that small-{\bf q} electron-phonon scattering dominates the pairing. We reproduce the distinct X-shaped d-wave gap reported recently by magnetooptic measurements and we argue that the softness of the momentum structure of the gap and the near degeneracy of s- and d-wave gap states may be at the origin of the experimental controversy about the gap symmetry. We show that a magnetic field applied parallel to the planes may induce extended gapless-regions on the FS accounting for the experimental signatures of a Fuld…
In this review article we present a survey of unconventional superconductors and their coexistence behaviour with magnetism. We focus on Ce- and U-based heavy fermion superconductors, in addition we discuss the rare earth borocarbide and skutterudite superconductors. We show that heavy fermion behaviour in Ce- and U- compounds should be described differently. While the Kondo-lattice model with localised 4f-electrons is appropriate for Ce-compounds, dual models including localised and itinerant 5f-electrons are necessary for U-compounds. We demonostrate that this leads to consistent results for…
Superconductivity in PdTe2 heavy transition metal based compounds is rapidly developing field in condensed matter physics community. Here, we report superconductivity in a nominal ternary telluride Ta2Pd0.97Te6 compound, which is synthesized in sealed evacuated quartz ampoule. The resultant compound is crystallized in layered monoclinic Ta4Pd3Te16 phase with space group C2/m, having lattice parameters a=21.304(6)A, b=3.7365(7)A, and c=17.7330A with Beta =120.65(1)degree. Both transport and magnetic measurements demonstrated bulk superconductivity at 4.4K in studied polycrystalline sample. The …
We report measurements of the ^{115}In nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate (1/T_1) between T=0.09 K and 100 K in the new heavy fermion (HF) compound CeIrIn_5. At 0.4 K < T < 100 K, 1/T_1 is strongly T-dependent, which indicates that CeIrIn_5 is much more itinerant than known Ce-based HFs. We find that 1/T_1T, subtracting that for LaIrIn_5, follows a 1/(T+θ)^{3/4} variation with θ=8 K. We argue that this novel feature points to anisotropic, due to a layered crystal structure, spin fluctuations near a magnetic ordering. The bulk superconductivity sets in at 0.40 K below which the coherence peak…
We have investigated the magnetic and the superconducting properties of the hybrid ruthenate-cuprate compound RuSr_{2}GdCu_{2}O_{8} by means of zero-field muon spin rotation- (ZF-$μ$SR) and DC magnetization measurements. The DC-magnetisation data establish that this material exhibits ferromagnetic order of the Ru-moments ($μ(Ru) \approx 1 μ_{B}$) below T_{Curie} = 133 K and becomes superconducting at a much lower temperature T_c = 16 K. The ZF-$μ$SR experiments indicate that the ferromagnetic phase is homogeneous on a microscopic scale and accounts for most of the sample volume. They also sugg…
The pressure effects on the antiferromagentic orders in iron-based ladder compounds CsFe$_2$Se$_3$ and BaFe$_2$S$_3$ have been studied using neutron diffraction. With identical crystal structure and similar magnetic structures, the two compounds exhibit highly contrasting magnetic behaviors under moderate external pressures. In CsFe$_2$Se$_3$ the ladders are brought much closer to each other by pressure, but the stripe-type magnetic order shows no observable change. In contrast, the stripe order in BaFe$_2$S$_3$, undergoes a quantum phase transition where an abrupt increase of N$\acute{e}$el t…
Intermetallic compounds containing f-electron elements display a wealth of superconducting phases, that are prime candidates for unconventional pairing with complex order parameter symmetries. For instance, superconductivity has been found at the border of magnetic order as well as deep within ferro- and antiferromagnetically ordered states, suggesting that magnetism may promote rather than destroy superconductivity. Superconductivity near valence transitions, or in the vicinity of magneto-polar order are candidates for new superconductive pairing interactions such as fluctuations of the condu…
We examined the physical properties of homologous LanRu3n-1B2n (n = 1 - 3) series including a new compound of n = 2. All of these compounds showed strong electron-electron correlation characterized by large Wilson ratio. In contrast to LaRu2B2 and La2Ru5B4 that show normal metal behaviors down to 1.8 K, we discover La3Ru8B6 is an intermediately coupled BCS superconductor with Tc ~ 3.2 K. The experimental and theoretical calculation results suggest that the emergence of superconductivity in La3Ru8B6 attributes to the rather large density of states at EF when compared to other two compounds.
We consider possible high temperature superconductivity (high-T$_c$) in transition metal compounds with a cubic zinc-blende lattice structure. When the electron filling configuration in the d-shell is close to d$^7$, all three t$_{2g}$ orbitals are near half filling with strong nearest neighbor antiferromagnetic (AFM) superexchange interactions. We argue that upon doping, this electronic environment can be one of "genes" to host unconventional high T$_c$ with a time reversal symmetry broken $d_{2z^2-x^2-y^2} \pm i d_{x^2-y^2}$ pairing symmetry. With gappless nodal points along the diagonal dir…
We report superconductivity in novel iron-based compounds Ca10(PtnAs8)(Fe2-xPtxAs2)5 with n = 3 and 4. Both compounds crystallize in triclinic structures (space group P-1), in which Fe2As2 layers alternate with PtnAs8 spacer layers. Superconductivity with a transition temperature of 38 K is observed in the n = 4 compound with a Pt content of x ~ 0.36 in the Fe2As2 layers. The compound with n = 3 exhibits superconductivity at 13 K.
Recent thermal conductivity measurements in the heavy-fermion compound CeIrIn_5 indicate that its superconducting order parameter is very different from CeCoIn_5. Here we show that these experiments are consistent with chiral d-wave symmetry.
Lanthanum hydride LaH$_{10}$ with a sodalitelike clathrate structure was experimentally realized to exhibit a room-temperature superconductivity under megabar pressures. Based on first-principles calculations, we reveal that the metal framework of La atoms has the excess electrons at interstitial regions. Such anionic electrons are easily captured to form a stable clathrate structure of H cages. We thus propose that the charge transfer from La to H atoms is mostly driven by the electride property of the La framework. Further, the interaction between La atoms and H cages induces a delocalizatio…
Crystal structure and physical properties of the novel BiS2-based layered superconductors are briefly reviewed. Superconductivity in the BiS2-based layered compounds is induced by electron doping into the BiS2 conduction layers. The superconducting properties seem to correlate with the crystal structure. Possible strategies for increasing transition temperature in this family are discussed.
Superconductive properties of the two-leg ladder compounds are studied theoretically. The antiferromagnetic fluctuations are considered because of the good nesting of the Fermi surfaces. The attractive interaction which is most likely due to the electron-phonon coupling is also taken into account. Under this circumstance, it is shown that the superconductivity has two sets of spin-triplet pairings. The gaps for both pairings have no node.
This review discusses the heavy-fermion superconductivity in Ce- and U-based compounds crystallizing in the body-centered tetragonal ThCr2Si2 structure. Special attention will be paid to the theoretical background of these systems which are located close to a magnetic instability.
We report superconductivity in as synthesized Nb2PdSe5, which is similar to recently discovered Nb2PdS5 compound having very high upper critical field, clearly above the Pauli paramagnetic limit [Sci. Rep. 3, 1446 (2013)]. A bulk polycrystalline Nb2PdSe5 sample is synthesized by solid state reaction route in phase pure structure. The structural characterization has been done by X ray diffraction, followed by Rietveld refinements, which revealed that Nb2PdSe5 sample is crystallized in monoclinic structure with in space group C2/m. Structural analysis revealed the formation of sharing of one dim…
We investigate the superconductivity of carbon compounds with a sodalite structure, which are similar to hydrogen compounds showing the high-temperature superconductivity. A systematic analysis by first-principles calculations is carried out, including examination of mechanical and dynamic instabilities under external pressure $P$. These instabilities are classified on the phase diagram for the effective doping charge versus the lattice constant of the system. We also present the superconducting transition temperature $T_{\rm c}$ as a function of $P$ for many carbon compounds and a pure carbon…
We give a brief review of superconductivity at ambient pressure in elements, alloys, and simple three-dimensional compounds. Historically these were the first superconducting materials studied, and based on the experimental knowledge gained from them the BCS theory of superconductivity was developed in 1957. Extended to include the effect of phonon retardation, the theory is believed to describe the subset of superconducting materials known as `conventional superconductors', where superconductivity is caused by the electron-phonon interaction. These include the elements, alloys and simple comp…
The thermal conductivity of the heavy fermion superconductor PrOs4Sb12 was measured down to Tc/40 throughout the vortex state. At lowest temperatures and for magnetic fields H ~ 0.07Hc2, already 40% of the normal state thermal conductivity is restored. This behaviour (similar to that observed in MgB2) is a clear signature of multiband superconductivity in this compound.
Superconductivity in the electric field-effect doped infinite layer compound CaCuO2 is considered. It is argued that in the superconducting CuO2 layer, next to the insulating Al2O3 overlayer, the coordination of the Cu2+ ions by oxygens is pyramidal rather than square planar. This view stems from existing NEXAFS and the analysis of HRETM results, as well as chemical considerations, and is discussed mainly for the hole doped but also the electron doped region of the phase diagramm.
Polycrystalline samples of F-substituted LnOBiS2 (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Yb) compounds were synthesized by solid-state reaction. The samples were characterized by x-ray diffraction measurements and found to have the ZrCuSiAs crystal structure. Electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements were performed on all of the samples and specific heat measurements were made on those with Ln = La, Ce, and Yb. All of these compounds exhibit superconductivity in the range 1.9 K - 5.4 K, which has not previously been reported for the compounds based on Ce, Pr, and Yb. The YbO0.5F0.5BiS2 com…
Since the discovery of superconductivity in a high-entropy alloy (HEA) Ti-Zr-Nb-Hf-Ta in 2014, the community of superconductor science has explored new HEA superconductors to find the merit of the HEA states on superconducting properties. Since 2018, we have developed HEA-type compounds as superconductors or thermoelectric materials. As well known, compounds like intermetallic compounds or layered compounds are composed of multi crystallographic sites. In a HEA-type compounds, one or more sites are alloyed and total mixing entropy satisfies with the criterion of HEA. Herein, we summarize the s…
The intermetallic compound, YRhAl, has been prepared and is found to be isomorphic with RRhAl (R=Pr, Nd, Gd, Ho and Tm) compounds crystallizing in the orthorhombic TiNiSi-type structure (Space group Pnma). Heat capacity and electrical resistivity measurements in the He-3 temperature range reveal that this compound is superconducting with a transition temperature, Tc, of 0.9 K. The electronic specific heat coefficient, gamma, and the Debye temperature are found to be 6.1 mJ/mole K and 197 K, respectively. The specific heat jump at the superconducting transition temperature is found to be consis…
We have studied the half-Heusler compound TbPdBi through resistivity, magnetization, Hall effect and heat capacity measurements. A semimetal behavior is observed in its normal state transport properties, which is characterized by a large negative magnetoresistance below 100 K. Notably, we find the coexistence of superconductivity and antiferromagnetism in this compound. The superconducting transition appears at 1.7 K, while the antiferromagnetic phase transition takes place at 5.5 K. The upper critical field $H_{c2}$ shows an unusual linear temperature dependence, implying unconventional super…
The structural misfit compound (PbSe)1.16(TiSe2)2 is reported. It is a superconductor with a Tc of 2.3 K. (PbSe)1.16(TiSe2)2 derives from a parent compound, TiSe2, which shows a charge density wave transition and no superconductivity. The crystal structure, characterized by high resolution electron microscopy and powder x-ray diffraction, consists of two layers of 1T-TiSe2 alternating with a double layer of (100) PbSe. Transport measurements suggest that the superconductivity is induced by charge transfer from the PbSe layers to the TiSe2 layers.
The symmetry properties and the general overview of the superconductivity theory in the itinerant ferromagnets and in materials without space parity are presented. The basic notions of unconventional superconductivity are introduced in broad context of multiband superconductivity which is inherent property of ferromagnetic metals or metals without centre of inversion.
We carefully studied the nonsuperconducting sample of the magneto-superconducting RuSr2(Eu1-xCex)Cu2O10 series with composition RuSr2EuCeCu2O10. This compound seems to exhibit a complex magnetic state as revealed by host of techniques like resistivity, thermopower, magnetic susceptibility and MR measurements.
The out-of-plane intercalate phonons of superconducting YbC6 have been measured with inelastic x-ray scattering. Model fits to this data, and previously measured out-of-plane intercalate phonons in graphite intercalation compounds (GICs), reveal surprising trends with the superconducting transition temperature. These trends suggest that superconducting GICs should be viewed as electron-doped graphite.
A series of high-pressure resistivity measurements on single crystals of TbTe3 reveal a complex phase diagram involving the interplay of superconducting, antiferromagnetic and charge density wave orders. The onset of superconductivity reaches a maximum of ~ 3.5 K (onset) near 75 kbar.
The field of superconductivity in the class of materials known as graphite intercalation compounds has a history dating back to the 1960s. This paper recontextualizes the field in light of the discovery of superconductivity in CaC6 and YbC6 in 2005. In what follows, we outline the crystal structure and electronic structure of these and related compounds. We go on to experiments addressing the superconducting energy gap, lattice dynamics, pressure dependence, and how this relates to theoretical studies. The bulk of the evidence strongly supports a BCS superconducting state. However, important q…
