In this work, we study dark matter (DM) admixed strange quark stars exploring the different possibilities about the nature of the DM and their effects on the macroscopic properties of strange stars, such as maximum masses, radii, as well the dimensionless tidal parameter. We observe that the DM significantly affects the macroscopic properties that depend on its mass, type, and fraction inside the star.
We investigated compact stars consisting of cold quark matter and fermionic dark matter treated as two admixed fluids. We computed the stellar structures and fundamental radial oscillation frequencies for different masses of the dark fermion in the cases of weak and strong self-interacting dark matter. We found that the fundamental frequency can be dramatically modified and, in some cases, stable dark strange planets and dark strangelets with very low masses and radii can be formed.
We investigate whether the recently observed 2.6 $M_\odot$ compact object in the gravitational-wave event GW190814 can be a bosonic dark matter admixed compact star. By considering the three constraints in mass, radius and stability of such an object, we find that if the dark matter is made of QCD axions, their particle mass $m$ is constrained to a range that has already been ruled out by the independent constraint imposed by the stellar-mass black hole superradiance process. The 2.6 $M_\odot$ object can still be a neutron star admixed with at least 2.0 $M_\odot$ of dark matter made of axion-l…
We study the structural properties like the gravitational mass, radius and tidal deformability of dark matter (DM) admixed strange quark stars (SQSs). For the purpose we consider the vector MIT Bag model to describe the strange quark matter (SQM) and investigate the possible presence of accreted DM in the SQSs consequently forming DM admixed SQSs. We introduce feeble interaction between SQM and the accreted fermionic DM via a vector dark boson mediator. Considering the present literature, in the context of possible presence of DM in SQSs, this work is the first to consider interaction between …
The effects of $Δ$ isobars on the equation of state of dense matter and structure of compact stars (CSs) are explored within the covariant density functional theory and confronted with the data on tidal deformability (TD) extracted from the GW170817 event. We show that the presence of $Δ$ isobars substantially softens the tension between the predictions of the hypernuclear density functionals and the inference from the observations of relatively small radius and small TD of canonical mass CSs. The TDs deduced from GW170817 are compatible with the existence of hypernuclear CSs containing an adm…
The concept of boson stars (BSs) was first introduced by Kaup and Ruffini-Bonazzola in the 1960s. Following this idea, we investigate an effect of self-interacting asymmetric bosonic dark matter (DM) according to Colpi et al. model for BSs (1986) on different observable properties of neutron stars (NSs). In this paper, the bosonic DM and baryonic matter (BM) are mixed together and interact only through gravitational force. The presence of DM as a core of a compact star or as an extended halo around it is examined by applying different boson masses and DM fractions for a fixed coupling constant…
In this work, we study the effect of (anti)kaon condensation on the properties of compact stars that develop hypernuclear cores with and without an admixture of $Δ$-resonances. We work within the covariant density functional theory with the parameters adjusted to $K$-atomic and kaon-nucleon scattering data in the kaonic sector. The density-dependent parameters in the hyperonic sector are adjusted to the data on $Λ$ and $Ξ^-$ hypernuclei data. The $Δ$-resonance couplings are tuned to the data obtained from their scattering off nuclei and heavy-ion collision experiments. We find that (anti)kaon …

{We present a study of neutron star models that contain dark matter (DM) in the core. The DM is assumed to have a particle nature and to be self-interacting. Using constraints on the mass and radius of neutron stars, we investigate the allowed properties of either bosonic or fermionic DM particles. We consider cases where it constitutes up to 15\% of the mass of the star, even though conventional mechanisms cannot generate such large fractions. For this purpose three different models of neutron stars are considered, the first involving nucleons only, the second including hyperons, and the last…
The equation of state (EoS) and composition of dense and hot $Δ$-resonance admixed hypernuclear matter is studied under conditions that are characteristic of neutron star binary merger remnants and supernovas. The cold, neutrino free regime is also considered as a reference for the astrophysical constraints on the EoS of dense matter. Our formalism uses the covariant density functional (CDF) theory successfully adapted to include the full $J^P=1/2^+$ baryon octet and non-strange members of $J^P=3/2^+$ decouplet with density-dependent couplings that have been suitably adjusted to the existing l…
