We report a serious kinematics problem in the bremsstrahlung photon part of the order-$α$ outer (model independent) radiative correction calculations for those neutron (and nuclear beta) decay observables (like electron-neutrino correlation parameter measurement) where the proton (recoil particle) is detected. The so-called neutrino-type radiative correction calculations, which fix the neutrino direction in the bremsstrahlung photon integrals, use 3-body decay kinematics to connect the unobserved neutrino direction with the observed electron and proton (recoil particle) momenta. But the presence of the bremsstrahlung photon changes the kinematics from 3-body to 4-body one, and the accurate information about the recoil particle momentum is lost due to the integration with respect to the photon momentum. Therefore the application of the abovementioned 3-body decay kinematics connection for the radiative correction calculations, rather prevalent in the literature, is not acceptable. We show that the correct, so-called recoil-type radiative correction calculations, which fix the proton (recoil particle) momentum instead of the neutrino direction and use rather involved analytical, semianalytical or Monte Carlo bremsstrahlung integration methods, result usually in much larger corrections than the incorrect neutrino-type analytical methods.
The QED radiative corrections are calculated in the leading log approximation up to ${\cal O}(α^2)$ for different definitions of the kinematical variables using jet measurement, the 'mixed' variables, the double angle method, and a measurement based on $θ_e$ and $y_{JB}$. Higher order contributions due to exponentiation of soft radiation are included.
Radiative corrections to QCD amplitudes in the quasi-multi-Regge kinematics are interesting in particular since the Reggeized form of these amplitudes is used in the derivation of the NLO BFKL. This form is a hypothesis which must be at least carefully checked, if not proved. We calculate the radiative corrections in the one-loop approximation using the s-channel unitarity. Compatibility of the Reggeized form of the amplitudes with the s-channel unitarity requires fulfillment of the set of nonlinear equations for the Reggeon vertices. We show that these equations are satisfied.
Radiative effects in the electroproduction of photons in polarized ep-scattering are calculated in the leading log approximation and analyzed numerically for kinematical conditions of current measurement at Jefferson Lab. Radiative corrections to the cross sections, their azimuthal distributions and Fourier coefficients are in particular focus. Kinematical regions where the radiative corrections are considerable are identified.
The process of large-angle high energy electron-positron scattering with emission of one hard photon almost collinear to one of the charged particles momenta is considered. The differential cross section with radiative corrections due to emission of virtual and soft real photons calculated to a power accuracy is presented. Emission of two hard photons and total expressions for radiative correction are given in leading logarithmical approximation. The latter are illustrated by numeric estimates. A relation of the results with structure function formalism is discussed.
Chiral amplitudes for two jets processes in quasi-peripheral kinematics are calculated at the Born and one loop correction level. The amplitudes of subprocesses describing interaction of virtual and real photon with creation of a charged fermion pair for various chiral states are considered in details. Similar results are presented for Compton subprocess with virtual photon. Contribution of emission of virtual, soft, and hard real additional photons are taken into account explicitly. The relevant cross sections expressed in terms of impact factors are in agreement with structure function appro…
Compact analytical formulae for QED radiative corrections in the processes of elastic $e-p$ scattering are obtained in the case when kinematic variables are reconstructed from the recoil proton momentum measured. Numerical analysis is presented under kinematic conditions of current experiments at JLab.
Kinematic edges of cascade decays of new particles produced in high-energy collisions may provide important constraints on the involved particles' masses. For the exemplary case of gluino decay $\tilde{g}\to q\bar q \tildeχ$ into a pair of quarks and a neutralino through a squark resonance, we study the hadronic invariant mass distribution in the vicinity of the kinematic edge. We perform a next-to-leading order calculation in the strong coupling $α_s$ and the ratio of squark width and squark mass $Γ_\tilde{q}/m_\tilde{q}$, based on a systematic expansion in $Γ_\tilde{q}/m_\tilde{q}$. The sepa…
We describe several numerical results for radiative corrections for deep inelastic $ep$ scattering at HERA which are calculated using the HECTOR package. We present radiative corrections for ten different choices of kinematical variables for unpolarized neutral and charged current deep inelastic scattering. Radiative corrections for neutral current scattering off polarized protons are calculated in leptonic variables and compared to those obtained by the POLRAD code for the kinematic regime of the HERMES experiment.
We discuss the next to the leading order (NLO) electroweak radiative corrections to the $e^- e^+ \rightarrow f^- f^+ (γ)$ cross section asymmetry, for polarized and unpolarized beam scenario. The left-right and forward-backward amplitudes, with and without radiative corrections, are evaluated and compared for various kinematics. The hard bremsstrahlung is included for arbitrary energy cuts. The radiative corrections are shown to be significant and having a non-trivial dependency on the kinematic conditions. The calculations are relevant for the ultra-precise low-energy experiment Belle~II plan…
In this dissertation, a complete calculation of QED radiative corrections is presented for total cross sections and forward- backward asymmetries for s-channel fermion pair production in e+e- annihilation with kinematical cuts to the final state. This includes cuts on the maximal acollinearity angle theta_acol and on the minimal energies E_min of the final state fermion pair and on the cosine of the scattering angle of one fermion, cos{theta}. The applied cuts pose a realistic alternative for leptonic final states compared to cuts on the invariant mass squared s' of the fermion pair and on cos…
O(α) QED radiative corrections to polarized neutral current leptoproduction of heavy quark flavours are calculated in the leading log approximation for HERMES, COMPASS, and HERA kinematics. Besides the inclusive case, we derive general $z_h$-differential formulae for the polarized boson gluon fusion process and use them to calculate radiative corrections to semi-inclusive polarized heavy flavour production in the case of HERA kinematics.
Non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) predicts colour octet contributions to be significant not only in many production processes of heavy quarkonia but also in their radiative decays. We investigate the photon energy distributions in these processes in the endpoint region. There the velocity expansion of NRQCD breaks down which requires a resummation of an infinite class of colour octet operators to so-called shape functions. We model these non-perturbative functions by the emission of a soft gluon cluster in the initial state. We found that the spectrum in the endpoint region is poorly understood if …
Radiative corrections to the cross sections of photon electroproduction and the single spin asymmetries induced by the interference between the Bethe Heitler and deep virtual Compton scattering amplitudes are calculated within the leading log approximation. The deep virtual Compton scattering amplitude is presented in the Belitsky, Müller, and Kirchner approximation for the polarized initial particles. The Fortran code for estimation of the radiative effects in a given kinematic point and Monte Carlo generator for simulation of one or two photons are developed. Numerical results are performed …
The lowest order QED radiative corrections to the radiative large angle Bhabha scattering process in the region where all kinematic invariants are large compared to the electron mass are considered. We show that the leading logarithmic corrections do not factorize before the Born cross section, contrary to the picture assumed in the renormalization group approach. The leading and non leading contributions for typical kinematics of the hard process at the energy of the $Φ$ factory are estimated.
The kinematical difference between the description of radiative effects for fixed $Q^2$ vs a fixed scattering angle in the elastic lepton-proton ($lp$)-scattering is discussed. The technique of calculation as well as explicit expressions for radiative corrections to the lepton current in unpolarized elastic $lp$-scattering for these two cases are presented without using an ultrarelativistic approximation. A comparative numerical analysis within kinematic conditions of Jefferson Lab measurements and MUSE experiment in PSI is performed.
Muon pair production in exclusive radiative decays $χ_{cJ}\to J/ψμμ$, $χ_{bJ}\toΥμμ$ are considered. We present numerical values of the branching fractions and distributions over various kinematical variables.
We calculate the long-distance radiative corrections δ^e_{LD} and δ^μ_{LD} to the K^0 -> π^- e^+ ν_e and the K^0 -> pi^- μ^+ ν_μ decay rates. This analysis includes contributions to the long-distance radiative corrections from outside the kinematically-allowed three-body Dalitz region and tests the sensitivity of the radiative corrections to the hadronic K-pi form factors. A program, KLOR, was written to numerically evaluate the radiative corrections and to generate Monte Carlo events for experimental acceptance studies. The K^0_{e3} and the K^0_{μ3} long-distance radiative correction paramete…
QED radiative effects are considered in the case of measurement of spin-density matrix elements of diffractive $ρ$-meson electroproduction. Large radiative correction for $r^5_{00}$ is found in the kinematics of collider experiments at HERA.
An approach to calculate radiative corrections to unpolarized cross section of semi-inclusive electroproduction is developed. An explicit formulae for the lowest order QED radiative correction are presented. Detailed numerical analysis is performed for the kinematics of experiments at the fixed targets.
We calculate DIS cross section under kinematical requirements when a final hadron state is a single proton. The process in the lowest order is known as radiative tail from elastic peak. We take into account correction, coming from emission of virtual and soft real photons, to the amplitude of this process as well as the one, induced by emission of additional hard photon and a hard pair. Resulting contributions of these channels are presented in the leading and, partly, next-to-leading logarithmic approximations. Some general expressions for the photon contributions are given. Numerical results…
Radiative effects in the electroproduction of photons in polarized $ep$-scattering are calculated with the next-to-leading (NLO) accuracy. The contributions of loops and two photon emission were presented in analytical form. The covariant approach of Bardin and Shumeiko was used to extract the infrared divergence. All contributions to the radiative correction were presented in the form of the correction to the leptonic tensor thus allowing for further applications in other experiments, e.g., deep inelastic scattering. The radiative corrections (RC) to the cross sections and polarization asymme…
It is widely accepted that a phenomenologically viable theory of jet quenching for heavy ion collisions requires the understanding of medium-induced parton energy loss beyond the limit of eikonal kinematics formulated by Baier-Dokshitzer-Mueller-Peigne-Schiff and Zakharov (BDMPS-Z). Here, we supplement a recently developed exact Monte Carlo implementation of the BDMPS-Z formalism with elementary physical requirements including exact energy-momentum conservation, a refined formulation of jet-medium interactions and a treatment of all parton branchings on the same footing. We document the change…
We performed the calculation of the full O(alpha) corrections to e+e- -> mu- nu-bar u d-bar with the help of the GRACE/1-LOOP system. We discuss how a finite decay width introduces a serious gauge invariance breaking, particularly for infrared 5-point functions. This is related to the way the reduction of those functions is performed and to the treatment of the width in the reduction.
We are developing a consistent method to combine tree-level event generators for hadron collision interactions with those including one additional QCD radiation from the initial-state partons, based on the limited leading-log (LLL) subtraction method, aiming at an application to NLO event generators. In this method, a boundary between non-radiative and radiative processes necessarily appears at the factorization scale (mu_F). The radiation effects are simulated using a parton shower (PS) in non-radiative processes. It is therefore crucial in our method to apply a PS which well reproduces the r…
Radiative muon decay in the kinematics similar to the neutrinoless decay $μ\to eγ$ is considered. Radiative corrections due to 1-loop virtual photons and emission of additional soft or hard photons are taken into account. Analytical expressions and numerical estimations are presented.
Recently a strong indication for a deviation from the standard model (SM) has been obtained by PIBETA Collaboration. Namely, SM fails to describe the energy distribution and the branching ratio of the radiative decays of the positive pions at rest in the high-E_gamma/low-E_e kinematic region. The previous experiment at ISTRA facility, testing the radiative decays of negative pions in flight in a wide kinematic region has alarmed about the same effect, although statistically less significant. The present PIBETA result indicates a deficit of the branching ratio of the radiative pion decay in the…
We investigate the effects of photon radiation on deep-inelastic $\reγ$ scattering. Depending on the set of variables chosen, we find appreciable effects in the kinematic region accessible at LEP2. Convenient analytic results for $O(α)$ corrected differential cross sections are presented.
Radiative corrections in leading logarithmic approximation are calculated for the differential cross section of $e^- μ^+$ radiative scattering. In particular the interference term due to photon emission from electron and muon blocks are calculated in helicity independent and dependent parts. The calculation is applied to the kinematical conditions of existing DVCS data in electron-proton collisions. Both helicity odd and helicity even differential cross sections are considered.
We consider the one-loop radiative corrections to the light-neutrino mass matrix and their consequences for the predicted branching ratios of the five lepton-flavour-violating decays $\ell_1^- \to \ell_2^- \ell_3^+ \ell_3^-$ in a two-Higgs-doublet model furnished with the type-I seesaw mechanism and soft lepton-flavour violation. We find that the radiative corrections are very significant; they may alter the predicted branching ratios by several orders of magnitude and, in particular, they may help explain why $\mbox{BR}(μ^- \to e^- e^+ e^-)$ is strongly suppressed relative to the branching ra…
Main theoretical approaches to weak radiative hyperon decays are briefly reviewed. It is emphasized that only approaches with great predictive power should be seriously considered when seeking a resolution of the puzzle presented by observed large negative asymmetry alpha (Sigma ^+ --> p gamma). In such cases, asymmetry in the Xi ^0 --> Lambda gamma decay is always large while its sign is positive (negative) if Hara's theorem is violated (satisfied). Measuring this asymmetry is therefore crucial for determining whether the large value of alpha (Sigma ^+ --> p gamma) is due to large SU(3) break…
The one-loop electroweak radiative correction of the lowest order to lepton current for deep inelastic scattering of longitudinally polarized leptons by polarized nucleons is obtained in model independent way. The detailed numerical analysis within kinematical requirements of future polarization collider experiments is performed. The possibility to reduce radiative effects by detection of hard photons is studied.
A description and a detailed comparison of the Mo and Tsai and the Dubna radiative correction schemes is presented. Numerical comparisons made in the kinematical region of the NMC high energy deep inelastic electroproduction experiment are discussed. An overall agreement between the two approaches in the region of low $x$ and high $y$, where the radiative corrections are largest, is better than 2$\%$.
The explicit formulae for radiative correction (RC) calculation for elastic $ep$-scattering is presented. Two typical measurements of polarization observables such as beam-target asymmetry or recoil proton polarization, are considered. Possibilities to take into account realistic experimental acceptances are discussed. The Fortran code MASCARAD for providing the RC procedure is presented. Numerical analysis is done for kinematical conditions of TJNAF.
We calculate the radiative corrections to the Dalitz plot of K_{l3}^\pm decays to order (alpha/pi)(q/M_1), where q is the momentum transfer and M_1 is the mass of the kaon. We restrict the analysis to the so-called four-body region, which arises when no discrimination of real photons is made either kinematically or experimentally. We present our results in two ways: the first one with the triple integration over the photon kinematical variables ready to be performed numerically and the second one in a fully analytical form. Our results can be useful in experimental analyses of the Dalitz plot,…
The electromagnetic radiative correction to the cross section of the vector meson electroproduction is calculated. Explicit covariant formulae for the observed cross section are obtained. The dependence of the radiative correction on the experimental resolution and on the inelasticity cut is discussed. FORTRAN code DIFFRAD based on both exact (ultrarelativistic) and approximate sets of the formulae for the radiative correction to the cross section is presented. The detailed numerical analysis for kinematical conditions of the recent experiments on the diffractive electroproduction of vector me…
The WW production in gamma-gamma scattering is considered in the Standard Model. The main contribution to radiative effects for the process gamma-gamma->WW has been calculating and analyzing. It is found the latter is considerable at high energies and greatly contributes to the differential cross section $dσ$ at various polarizations of initial photons and final bosons. Monte-Carlo generator built based on TESLA kinematics.
An alternative calculation of the lowest order electroweak radiative corrections to the single W-boson production in hadron-hadron collision in the framework of the quark parton model without any absorption of the collinear quark singularity into the parton distributions is carried out. Numerical analysis under Tevatron and LHC kinematic conditions is performed.
The model-independent radiative corrections to deep-inelastic scattering of unpolarized electron beam off the tensor polarized deuteron target have been considered. The contribution to the radiative corrections due to the hard-photon emission from the elastic electron-deuteron scattering (the so-called elastic radiative tail) is also investigated. The calculation is based on the covariant parametrization of the deuteron quadrupole polarization tensor. The numerical estimates of the radiative corrections to the polarization observables have been done for the kinematical conditions of the curren…
We evaluate the matrix elements for the radiative kaon decays $K^+ \to l^+ν_lγ$, $l^+ ν_l l'^+ l'^-$ and $K \to πl ν_lγ$ \ ($l,\ l' = e,μ$) to next-to-leading order in chiral perturbation theory. We calculate total rates and rates with several kinematical cuts and confront the results with existing data. Measurements at future kaon facilities will allow for a more detailed comparison between theory and experiment.
We derive a new factorization relation for the semileptonic radiative decay B -> π\ell νγin the kinematical region of a slow pion p_π~ Λand an energetic photon E_γ>> Λ, working at leading order in Λ/m_b. In the limit of a soft pion, the nonperturbative matrix element appearing in this relation can be computed using chiral perturbation theory. We present a phenomenological study of this decay, which may be important for a precise determination of the exclusive nonradiative decay.
We show that the radiative corrections containing terms up to order $αq / πM_1$ for unpolarized semileptonic decays of baryons with positron emission can be obtained by simply reversing the sign of the axial-vector form factors in the corresponding final expressions of such decays with electron emission. This rule is valid regardless of the final kinematical variables chosen and of the particular Lorentz frame in which the final results are required.
We consider the form factors for the radiative semileptonic decays $\bar{B}(v) \rightarrow D^{(*)}(v') \ell {\bar ν}_\ell γ$ in the kinematic region where the photon momentum, $k$, is small enough that heavy quark symmetry (HQS) can be applied without the radiated photon changing the heavy quark velocity (i.e., $v^{(\prime)} \cdot k < m_{(b,c)}$). We find that HQS is remarkably powerful, leaving only four new undetermined form factors at leading order in $1/m_{(b,c)}$. In addition, one of them is fixed in terms of the leading order Isgur-Wise function in the kinematic region, $v^{(\prime)}\cdo…
We review the theory of meson decays to two lepton pairs, including the cases of identical as well as non-identical leptons, as well as CP-conserving and CP-violating couplings. A complete lowest-order calculation of QED radiative corrections to these decays is discussed, and comparisons of predicted rates and kinematic distributions between tree-level and one-loop-corrected calculations are presented for both pi-zero and K-zero decays.
We use existing measurements of $D^-\to K^{\ast0}ρ^-$ and $B\to ψ+K^\ast$, coupled with flavor independence of QCD, and with vector meson dominance to show that long distance contributions to $B\to ρ+γ$ are potentially very serious. We note that long distance (LD) contributions can be appreciably different in $B^-\to ρ^-+γ$ and $B^0\to ρ^0 (ω) +γ$. All radiative decays of $B$, $B_S$ are shown to be governed essentially by two LD and two short-distance (SD) hadronic entities. Separate measurements of $B^-\to ρ^-+γ$, $B^0\to ρ^0 (ω) +γ$, along with $B\to K^\ast +γ$ appear necessary for a meaning…
The standard NRQCD power counting breaks down and the OPE gives rise to color-octet shape functions at the upper endpoint of the photon energy spectrum in radiative Upsilon decay. Also in this kinematic regime, large Sudakov logarithms appear in the octet Wilson coefficients, ruining the perturbative expansion. Using SCET, the octet shape functions arise naturally and the Sudakov logarithms can be summed using the renormalization group equations. We derive an expression for the resummed octet energy spectrum.
In calculating electroweak radiative corrections at two-loop level, one encounters Feynman graphs with several different masses on the internal propagators and on the external legs, which lead to complicated scalar functions. We describe a general analytic-numerical reduction scheme for evaluating any two-loop diagrams with general kinematics and general renormalizable interactions, whereby ten basic functions form a complete set after tensor reduction. We illustrate this scheme by applying it to two- and three-point functions. We discuss the treatment of infrared singularities within this num…
The total lowest-order electromagnetic radiative corrections to the observables in Moller scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons have been calculated. The final expressions obtained by the covariant method for the infrared divergency cancellation are free from any unphysical cut-off parameters. Since the calculation is carried out within the ultrarelativistic approximation our result has a compact form that is convenient for computing. Basing on these expressions the FORTRAN code MERA has been developed. Using this code the detailed numerical analysis performed under SLAC (E-158) and…
We consider the effects of anomalous magnetic dipole moments of vector mesons in the decay distribution of photons emitted in two-pseudoscalar decays of charged vector mesons. By choosing a kinematical configuration appropriate to isolate these effects from model-dependent and dominant bremsstrahlung contributions, we show that this method can provide a valid alternative for a measurement of the unknown magnetic dipole moments of charged vector mesons.
The contribution of exclusive radiative tail to the cross section of semi-inclusive hadron leptoproduction has been calculated exactly for the first time. Although the experience of inclusive data analyses suggests us that the contribution of radiative tail from the elastic peak is of particular importance, similar effects in the semi-inclusive process were only recently estimated in the peaking approximation. The explicit expressions for the lepton part of the lowest order QED contribution of exclusive radiative tail to the five-fold differential cross section are obtained and discussed. Nume…
High energy scattering processes of charged particles are accompanied by radiation of hard photons. Emission collinear to the incident particles, which leads to a reduction of the effective beam energy, and the possibility to directly measure these photons at the HERA electron-proton collider provides important physics opportunities. For deep inelastic scattering, the measurement of radiative processes extends the kinematic range accessible to the HERA experiments to lower Q^2, as well as helps in separating the proton structure functions without the need to run at different collider energies.…
A unified treatment of both chiral and radiative corrections to the low-energy elastic lepton-proton scattering processes is presented in Heavy Baryon Chiral Perturbations Theory. The proton hadronic chiral corrections include the next-to-next-to leading order corrections whereas the radiative corrections include the next-to-leading order terms in our novel power counting scheme. We find that the net fractional well-defined chiral corrections with respect to the leading order Born cross section can be as large as $10\%$ ($20\%$) for electron (muon) scattering process for MUon proton Scattering…
The lowest order radiative correction to the differential cross-section of process of muon pair production with emission of hard photon at high energy electron-positron annihilation are calculated. Taking into account the emission of additional soft and hard photon the cross-section can be put in the form of Drell-Yan process in leading logarithmical approximation. Applying the crossing transformation we obtain the cross section of radiative electron-muon high-energy scattering process. Virtual and soft photon emission contributions of non-leading form are tabulated for several typical kinemat…
We derived analytic formulae for the polarization single--spin asymmetries (SSA) in the Bethe--Heitler process $e^- + p \to e^- + γ+ p$. The asymmetries arise due to one-loop QED radiative corrections to the leptonic part of the interaction and present a systematic correction for the studies of virtual Compton Scattering on a proton through interference with the Bethe-Heitler amplitude. Considered are SSA with either longitudinally polarized electron beam or a polarized proton target. The computed effect appears to be small, not exceeding 0.1 per cent for kinematics of current virtual Compton …
We investigate the effect of high order radiative corrections in unpolarized electron proton elastic scattering and compare with the calculations at lowest order, which are usually applied to experimental data. Particular attention is devoted to the $ε$ dependence of radiative corrections, which is directly related to the electric proton form factor. We consider in particular the effects of the interference terms for soft and hard photon emission. Both quadratic amplitude describing the collinear emission along the scattered electron as well as the interference with the amplitudes of emission …
Muon pair production through the radiative return is of importance for a measurement of the hadronic production cross section in two ways: it provides an independent calibration and it may give rise to an important background for a measurement of the pion form factor. With this motivation the Monte Carlo event generator PHOKHARA is extended to include next-to-leading order radiative corrections to the reaction $e^+e^-\to μ^+μ^-γ$. Furthermore, virtual ISR corrections to FSR from pions are introduced, which extends the applicability of the generator into a new kinematical regime. Finally, the e…
We discuss an inclusive approach to the measurement of the e+e- --> pi+ pi- cross--section by the radiative return method without photon tagging. The essential part of this approach is the choice of rules for event selection which provide rejection of events with 3 (or more) pions and decrease the final--state radiation background. The radiative corrections to the initial--state radiation process are computed for DAPhNE conditions, using the quasi--real electron approximation for both, the cross--section and the underlying kinematics. The two cases of restricted and unrestricted pion phase spa…
We reconsider QED radiative corrections (RC) to the $π^{0}\to e^{+}e^{-}$ decay width. One kind of RC investigated earlier has a renormalization group origin and can be associated with the final state interaction of electron and positron. It determines the distribution of lepton pair invariant masses in the whole kinematic region. The other type of RC has a double-logarithmic character and is related to almost on-mass-shell behavior of the lepton form factors. The total effect of RC for the $π^{0}\to e^{+}e^{-}$ decay is estimated to be 3.2% and for the decay $η\to e^{+}e^{-}$ is 4.3%.
A model-independent expression for the Dalitz plot of semileptonic decays of neutral kaons, K_{l3}^0, including radiative corrections to order (α/π)(q/M_1), where q is the momentum transfer and M_1 is the mass of the kaon, is presented. The model dependence of radiative corrections is kept in a general form within this approximation, which is suitable for model-independent experimental analyses. Expressions for bremsstrahlung radiative corrections are presented in two forms: one with the triple integral over the kinematical variables of the photon ready to be performed numerically and the othe…
We consider neutron radiative β-decay, n\to p e^- \barν_eγ, and compute the T-odd momentum correlation in the decay rate characterized by the kinematical variable ξ= {\bf l}_ν\cdot ({\bf l}_e\times{\bf k}) arising from electromagnetic final-state interactions in the Standard Model. Our expression for the corresponding T-odd asymmetry A_ξ^{SM} is exact in O(α) up to terms of recoil order, and we evaluate it numerically under various kinematic conditions. Noting the universality of the V-A law in the absence of recoil order terms, we retain the parametric dependence on masses and coupling consta…
We present a complete calculation of the K_{l3} decays K^+ --> pi^0 l^+ nu_l and K^0 --> pi^- l^+ nu_l to O(p^4, (m_d-m_u) p^2, e^2 p^2) in chiral perturbation theory with virtual photons and leptons. We introduce the concept of generalized form factors and kinematical densities in the presence of electromagnetism, and propose a possible treatment of the real photon emission in K^+_{l3} decays. We illustrate our results by applying them to the extraction of the Kobayashi--Maskawa matrix element |V_{us}| from the experimental K^+_{e3} decay parameters.
