The noncommutative QED (NCQED) has a non-Abelian nature due to the presence of 3- and 4-photon vertices in the lagrangian. Thus, NCQED predicts a new physics contribution to the $γγ\rightarrowγγ$ scattering already at the tree level. We have examined NCQED by studying the light-by-light process at the 14 TeV LHC with intact protons. Our results show that the NC scale up to $Λ_{\mathrm{NC}} = 1.65(1.35)$ TeV can be probed in the $pp\rightarrow p(γγ)p \rightarrow p'(γγ)p'$ collision for the time-space (space-space) NC parameters. These bounds are stronger than the limits that can be obtained in the light-by-light scattering at high energy linear colliders.
Based on the latest public results, 13 TeV data from the Large Hadron Collider at CERN has not indicated any evidence of hitherto tested models of quantum black holes, semiclassical black holes, or string balls. Such models have predicted signatures of particles with high transverse momenta. Noncommutative black holes remain an untested model of TeV- scale gravity that offers the starkly different signature of particles with relatively low transverse momenta. Considerations for a search for charged noncommutative black holes using the ATLAS detector will be discussed.
Noncommutative geometry allows to unify the basic building blocks of particle physics, Yang-Mills-Higgs theory and General relativity, into a single geometrical framework. The resulting effective theory constrains the couplings of the particle model and reduces the number of degrees of freedom. After briefly introducing the basic ideas of noncommutative geometry, I will present its predictions for the Standard Model and the few known models beyond the Standard Model. Most of these models, including the Standard Model, are now ruled out by LHC data. But interesting extensions of the Standard Mo…
When embedding models of noncommutative geometry inspired black holes into the peridium of large extra dimensions, it is natural to relate the noncommutativity scale to the higher-dimensional Planck scale. If the Planck scale is of the order of a TeV, noncommutative geometry inspired black holes could become accessible to experiments. In this paper, we present a detailed phenomenological study of the production and decay of these black holes at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Noncommutative inspired black holes are relatively cold and can be well described by the microcanonical ensemble durin…
We study the pair production of charged gauge bosons at the LHC in a noncommutative extension of the standard model. We use angular distributions in the decays of the gauge bosons to partially reconstruct polarized cross sections. We use this, together with CP considerations, to construct more sensitive observables that allow to separate space-time from space-space noncommutativities.
The LHC measurements of the differential cross section of the Drell-Yan process is used to constrain the noncommutative space-time (NCST) phase space. A $χ^2$ method is utilized to exclude the part of the parameters space which is not consistent with the LHC measurements. Depending on other NCST parameters, the scale can be pushed up to $Λ_{NC} > 655$ GeV. The effect of other parameters is also investigated. To our knowledge, it is the first time that a detailed statistical analysis is performed to compare the NCST results with the Hadron Collider measurements.
We examine the electroweak gauge sector of noncommutative standard model and in particular, obtain the $\mathcal{O} \,(θ)$ Feynman rules for all quadrilinear gauge boson couplings. Surprisingly, an electroweak-chromodynamics mixing appears in the gauge sector of noncommutative standard model, where photon as well as the neutral weak boson are coupled directly to three gluons. The phenomenological perspectives of the model in $W^-W^+ \rightarrow Z Z$ scattering are studied and it is shown that there is a characteristic oscillatory behaviour in azimuthal distribution of scattering cross sections…
Under the assumption that the dijet excess seen by the CDF Collaboration near 150 Gev in Wjj production is due to the lightest technipion of the low-scale technicolor process $ρ_T \rightarrow W π_T$, we study its observability in LHC detectors with 1-5 fb^{-1} of data. We find that cuts similar to those employed by CDF are unlikely to confirm its signal. We propose cuts tailored to the LSTC hypothesis and its backgrounds at the LHC that can reveal $π_T \rightarrow jj$. We also stress the importance at the LHC of the isospin-related channel $ρ^{\pm}_T \rightarrow Zπ^{\pm}_T \rightarrow \ell\ell…
We study the production cross section of the $t$-channel single top quark at the LHC in the noncommutative space-time. It is shown that the deviation of the $t$-channel single top cross section from the Standard Model value because of noncommutativity is significant when $|\vecθ| \gtrsim 10^{-4}$ GeV$^{-2}$. Using the present experimental precision in measurement of the $t$-channel cross section, we apply upper limit on the noncommutative parameter. When a single top quark decays, there is a significant amount of angular correlation, in the top quark rest frame between the top spin direction a…
The $Z\rightarrow e^{+}e^{-}$ decay is studied basing on the noncommutative standard model (NCSM) with the hybrid gauge transformation. It is shown that if the latter is not included, the noncommutative correction to the amplitude of the $Z\rightarrow e^{+}e^{-}$ appears only as a phase factor, so that there is no new physical effect on the decay width. However, when the hybrid gauge transformation is included, the noncommutative effect appears in the two-body decay process. The discrepancy between the experimental branch ratio and the standard model prediction allows us to set the bound on th…
A search for the rare decays $B^0_s\rightarrow μ^+μ^-$ and $B^0\rightarrow μ^+μ^-$ is performed with the LHCb experiment using 1.1\,fb$^{-1}$ of data collected at $\sqrt s=8$\,TeV$ and 1.0\,fb$^{-1}$ of data collected at $\sqrt s=7$\,TeV. An excess of $B^0_s\rightarrow μ^+μ^-$ candidates with respect to the background expectations is observed with a statistical significance of 3.5 standard deviations. A branching fraction of ${\cal BR}(B^0_s\rightarrow μ^+μ^-) =(3.2^{+1.5}_{-1.2}) \times 10^{-9}$ is measured with an unbinned maximum likelihood fit. The measured branching fraction is in agreeme…
We propose to utilize the transverse mass variable $M_{T2}$ and it's descendant $M_{2Cons}$ for constraining the CP admixture of the tau lepton Yukawa coupling at the LHC. We have considered the tau lepton pair produced from the Higgs boson with each tau decays to a charged pion and a neutrino, $τ^{\pm} \rightarrow π^{\pm} ν_τ$. Recently, for this channel, the LHC has employed the impact parameter method to measure the CP mixing angle of tau lepton Yukawa coupling with large uncertainty. The observables we propose here can be measured in the lab frame without the impact parameter measurement a…
It is extremely challenging to probe the charm-quark Yukawa coupling at hadron colliders primarily due to the large Standard Model (SM) background (including $h\to b\bar b$) and the lack of an effective trigger for the signal $h\to c\bar c$. We examine the feasibility of probing this coupling at the LHC via a Higgs radiative decay $h\rightarrow c\bar{c}γ$. The existence of an additional photon in the final state may help for the signal identification and background suppression. Adopting a refined triggering strategy and utilizing basic machine learning, we find that a coupling limit of about 8…
The ATLAS and CMS collaborations have observed independently at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) a new Higgs-like particle with a mass $M_h \sim$ 125 GeV and properties similar to that predicted by the Standard Model (SM). Although the measurements indicate that this Higgs-like boson is compatible with the SM hypothesis, however due to large uncertainties in some of the Higgs detection channels, one still has the possibility of testing this object as being a candidate for some Beyond the SM (BSM) physics scenarios, for example, the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), in the CP-conserv…
We study the observability of non-standard top Yukawa couplings in the $pp\rightarrow t(\rightarrow \ell ν_\ell b ) h(\rightarrow γγ)j$ channel at 14 TeV high-luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). The small diphoton branching ratio is enhanced when the $\mathcal{CP}$-violating phase, $ξ$, of the top-Higgs interaction is non-zero. When the modulus of the top-Higgs interaction assumes the SM value, $y_t=y_t^{SM}$, we find that the signal significance reaches $2.7σ$ $( 7.7σ)$ when $ξ= 0.25π$ $(0.5π) $. Furthermore, the different couplings modify the polarisation of the top quark, and can subsequently be disti…
We present predictions for the inclusive productions of the D meson originating from bottom hadrons at the CERN LHC in the general-mass variable-flavour-number scheme at next-to-leading order. We present results using two methods to describe the transition for $b\rightarrow D$: a two-step transition $b\rightarrow B \rightarrow D$, based on the $b\rightarrow B$ fragmentation functions and the spectra for $B\rightarrow D$ as measured by CLEO and a one-step transition based on the fragmentation functions for $b\rightarrow D$. The results of both approaches are compared.
The determination of the electromagnetic dipole moments of the top quark is one of the most important goals of the top quark physics program in the collider experiments. For this reason, the top quark pair production to investigate the sensitivity on the electric and magnetic dipole moments of the top quark via the process $pp\rightarrow p γp \rightarrow p t \bar{t} X$ at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) and High-Energy Large Hadron Collider (HE-LHC) is discussed. We apply pure leptonic and semileptonic decays for top quark pair production in …
A search is presented for a hidden-sector boson, $χ$, produced in the decay $B^0 \rightarrow K^* (892)^0 χ$, with $K^* (892)^0 \rightarrow K^+ π^-$ and $χ\rightarrow μ^+ μ^-$ . The search is performed using a $pp$-collision data sample collected at $\sqrt{s}=7$ and 8 TeV with the LHCb detector, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 1 and 2 fb$^{-1}$ respectively. No significant signal is observed in the mass range $214 \le m_χ\le 4350$ MeV, and upper limits are placed on the branching fraction product $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \rightarrow K^* (892)^0 χ) \times \mathcal{B}(χ\rightarrow μ^+ μ^- )$ …
Under the assumption that the dijet excess seen by the CDF Collaboration near 150 Gev in Wjj production is due to the lightest technipion of the low-scale technicolor process $ρ_T \rightarrow W π_T$, we study its observability in LHC detectors with 1--20 inverse femtobarns of data. We describe interesting new kinematic tests that can provide independent confirmation of this LSTC hypothesis. We find that cuts similar to those employed by CDF, and recently by ATLAS, cannot confirm the dijet signal. We propose cuts tailored to the LSTC hypothesis and its backgrounds at the LHC that may reveal $ρ_…
Charged Lepton Flavor Violation (cLFV) processes like $ μ\rightarrow e γ$ are rare decay processes, that are another signature of physics beyond Standard Model (BSM). These processes have been studied in various models, that could explain neutrino oscillations and mixings. In this work, we present bounds on cLFV decay $ μ\rightarrow e γ$ in a $ μ$-$ τ$ symmetric SUSY SO(10) theory, using type I seesaw mechanism. The updated constraints on BR($ μ\rightarrow e γ$) from MEG experiment, recently measured value of Higgs mass at LHC and value of $θ_{13}$ from reactor data have been used. We present …
In this paper, we study the single top production in association with a Higgs boson in the $U(1)_{B-L}$ extension of the Standard Model at the LHC. We calculate the production cross sections of the processes $pp\rightarrow thX(h=H_{1},H_{2};X=j,b,W)$ in this model. Then we further study the observability of the process $pp\rightarrow tH_{2}j$ through $pp\rightarrow t(\rightarrow q\bar{q'} b)H_{2}(\rightarrow 4\ell)j$. We find that the systematic significance can be improved obviously, but it is still challenging for the 14 TeV LHC with high-luminosity to detect this signal.
We study the new heavy charged gauge boson W' in various models including Left-Right symmetric, Little Higgs, Randall-Sundrum and universal extra dimension model considering pp \rightarrow W' \rightarrow lepton + neutrino with the 7 TeV and 14 TeV CM energies at the LHC. Of particular, we show that the universal extra dimension model is highly constrained by existing and forthcoming data.
It is widely believed that fully hadronic final states are not competitive in searches for new physics at the Large Hadron Collider due to the overwhelming QCD backgrounds. In this letter, we present a particle-level study of the topology arising when a TeV-scale resonance decays to two Higgs bosons and these subsequently decay to $b\bar{b}$, leading to two back-to-back boosted dijet systems. We show that selecting events with this topology dramatically reduces all backgrounds, thus enabling very competitive searches for new physics in a variety of models. For a resonance with mass 1 TeV and w…
Instead of the usual dijet decay, the coloron may mainly decay into its own "Higgs bosons", which subsequently decay into many jets. This is a general feature of the renormalizable coloron model, where the corresponding "Higgs bosons" are a color-octet $Θ$ and a color-singlet $ϕ_I$. In this paper, we perform a detailed collider study for the signature of $pp \rightarrow G' \rightarrow (Θ\rightarrow gg) (ϕ_I \rightarrow gg q\bar{q})$ with the coloron $G'$ as a six-jet resonance. For a light $ϕ_I$ below around 0.5 TeV, it may be boosted and behave as a four-prong fat jet. We also develop a jet-s…
The search for the Higgs boson is entering a decisive phase. The Large Hadron Collider experiments have collected more than 1 fb$^{-1}$ of data and are now capable of efficiently probing the high Higgs mass region, $m_H > 140$ GeV. The low mass region is more challenging at the LHC, but if the Higgs has Standard Model (SM)-like properties, the LHC should find evidence for it by the end of next year. In low energy supersymmetric extensions of the SM, the situation is similar for large values of the CP-odd Higgs mass $m_A$, but more interesting for lower values of $m_A$. The ($\sqrt{s}$ =7 TeV) …
We propose a new search for Dark Matter at the LHC, characteristic of scenarios beyond the Standard Model with a pseudoscalar portal between the visible and dark sectors. This search, leading to a $\bar{b} b Z( \rightarrow \ell\ell) + E_{T} \hspace{-4mm}/\hspace{2mm}$ final state, reaches large regions of parameter space not probed by Dark Matter searches via multi-jet $+ E_{T} \hspace{-4mm}/\hspace{2mm}$, searches for new scalars and flavour bounds. We show that this search could be used to test the Dark Matter origin of the gamma ray Galactic Centre excess with LHC Run 2 data.
In the littlest Higgs model with T-parity, we study associated production of a Higgs and a single top quark at the 14 TeV LHC. We focus on the Higgs to two photons decay and the semileptonic top decay channel. By performing a fast detector simulation, we find that the $thj$ search in the selected channel can excluded the top partner mass $m_{T_{+}}$ up to 805 (857) GeV for case A (case B) at $2σ$ confidence level at 14 TeV LHC with the integrated luminosity $L= 3 \rm ab^{-1}$.
One of the fundamental predictions of the Standard Model is Lepton Flavour Universality. Any deviation from this prediction would indicate the existence of physics beyond the Standard Model. Recent LHCb measurements present a pattern of deviations from this prediction in rare B-meson decays. While not yet statistically significant (currently $2.2-2.6 σ$), these measurements show an imbalance in the ratio of B-meson decays to a pair of muons in association with a Kaon and decays to a pair of electrons in association with a Kaon. If the measured deviations are indeed present in nature, new physi…
With an eye toward the precision physics of the LHC, FCC-ee and possible high energy muon colliders, we present the extension of the CEEX (coherent exclusive exponentiation) realization of the YFS approach to resummation in our KK MC to include the processes f\bar{f}\rightarrow f'\bar{f'}, f=μ,τ, q,ν_\ell, f'=e, μ,τ, q, ν_\ell, q=u,d,s,c,b,t, \ell =e,μ,τwith f \ne f'. After giving a brief summary of the CEEX theory with reference to the older EEX (exclusive exponentiation) theory, we illustrate theoretical results relevant to the LHC, FCC-ee, and possible muon collider physics programs.
We present the upgrade of the coherent exclusive (CEEX) exponentiation realization of the Yennie-Frautschi-Suura (YFS) theory used in our Monte Carlo ({\cal KK} MC) to the processes f\bar{f}\rightarrow f'\bar{f'}, f=μ,τ,q,ν_\ell, f'=e,μ,τ,q,ν_\ell, q=u,d,s,c,b,t, \ell=e,μ,τwith f\ne f', with an eye toward the precision physics of the LHC and possible high energy muon colliders. We give a brief summary of the CEEX theory in comparison to the older (EEX) exclusive exponentiation theory and illustrate theoretical results relevant to the LHC and possible muon collider physics programs.
Under the assumption that the dijet excess seen by the CDF Collaboration near 150 Gev in Wjj production is due to the lightest technipion of the low-scale technicolor process $ρ_T \rightarrow W π_T$, we study its observability in LHC detectors for 8 TeV collisions and 20 inverse femtobarns of integrated luminosity. We describe interesting new kinematic tests that can provide independent confirmation of this LSTC hypothesis. We show that cuts similar to those employed by CDF, and recently by ATLAS, cannot confirm the dijet signal. We propose cuts tailored to the LSTC hypothesis and its backgrou…
In this paper, we consider a solution to explain the three discrepancies with the standard model (SM) predictions in flavor observables, i.e. anomalies in $B\rightarrow K^\astμ^+μ^-$ and $R_K=\mathcal{B}(B\rightarrow Kμ^+μ^-)/\mathcal{B}(B\rightarrow K e^+e^-)$ at the LHCb and an excess in $h\rightarrow μτ$ at the CMS in the context of R-parity violating (RPV) supersymmetry. We demonstrate that these anomalies can be explained within a unified framework: the minimal supersymmetry model (MSSM) extended with $5+\overline{5}$ vectorlike (VL) particles. The new trilinear RPV couplings involving VL…
It is widely known that the $ZH$ production channel provides a promising probe to the $H \rightarrow b\bar{b}$ decay at the LHC, when the Higgs and the $Z$ bosons are highly boosted along the transverse direction. We show how information on the $Z$ boson polarization -- that is disregarded in the current LHC analyses -- can relevantly improve the signal from background discrimination, helping us to observe and achieve a larger precision for the $H \rightarrow b\bar{b}$ measurement in the $Z(\ell\ell)H$ channel.
The null radiation zone theorem states that, when special kinematical conditions are satisfied, all the helicity amplitudes of a parton-level subprocess where a vector current is emitted vanish due to destructive interference among different diagrams. We study the manifestation of the theorem in $pp$ collisions at the $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV LHC. The theorem predicts that the cross section for $p p \rightarrow j j γ$ events is suppressed when the transverse momenta of the two jets are similar and when the rapidity difference between the photon and the cluster of the jets is nearly zero, because the $…
We investigate the sensitivity of the 14 TeV LHC to pair-produced top partners ($T$) decaying into the Standard Model top quark ($t$) plus either a gluon ($g$) or a photon ($γ$). The decays $T\rightarrow tg$ and $T\rightarrow tγ$ can be dominant when the mixing between the top partner and top quark are negligible. In this case, the conventional decays $T\rightarrow bW$, $T\rightarrow tZ$, and $T\rightarrow th$ are highly suppressed and can be neglected. We take a model-independent approach using effective operators for the $T$-$t$-$g$ and $T$-$t$-$γ$ interactions, considering both spin-$\frac{…
We construct a simple model of the Double Drell--Yan Process (DDYP) for proton--proton collisions and investigate its possible contribution to the background for the Higgs-boson searches at the LHC. We demonstrate that under the assumption of the predominance of short range, ${\cal O}(0.1)\,$fm, transverse-plane correlations of quark--antiquark pairs within the proton this contribution becomes important and may even explain the observed excess of the four-lepton events at the LHC -- the events interpreted as originating from the Higgs-boson decays: $ H \rightarrow ZZ^{*} \rightarrow 4l$ and $ …
Heavy scalar and pseudoscalar resonance searches through the $gg\rightarrow S\rightarrow t\bar t$ process are challenging due to the peculiar behavior of the large interference effects with the standard model $t\bar t$ background. Such effects generate non-trivial lineshapes from additional relative phases between the signal and background amplitudes. We provide the analytic expressions for the differential cross sections to understand the interference effects in the heavy scalar signal lineshapes. We extend our study to the case of CP-violation and further consider the effect of bottom quarks…
We calculate the Compton scattering for photon and gluon with the Klein-Nishina formula in fixed-target collisions by using the proton and lead beams at AFTER@LHC. In these collisions, we can investigate the particular case of Compton scattering at the partonic level, such as $γq\rightarrow qγ$, $γq\rightarrow qg$, $gq\rightarrow qγ$, and $gq\rightarrow qg$, that can help to check of the equivalent-photon approximation and understand the dynamics of hadron collisions at high energies, as well as probe the inner hadron structure.
We conjecture that a 125 GeV resonance $ζ^0$ with $J^{PC}=0^{-+}$ composed of a quark-antiquark state may have been observed at the LHC. The decay modes of this pseudoscalar particle are determined using the non-relativistic quark model. The leading order partial decay widths for the decays of the pseudoscalar quarkonium resonance $ζ^0\rightarrow γγ$ and $ζ^0\rightarrow gg$ are compared to the standard model Higgs particle decays $H^0\rightarrow γγ$ and $H^0\rightarrow gg$. An experimental analysis at the LHC of the observed production cross sections for the $ζ^0$ and the Higgs particle could …
The significance of discovering the boson of 750 GeV is beyond finding a single heavy boson, because it may hint the location of the scale for new physics beyond the standard model which is the target of long-time exploration. There have been many models to explain the diphoton excess observed by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations and the BLMSSM is one of them. The BLMSSM is an extension of the minimal supersymmetric model where baryon and lepton numbers are local gauge symmetries. We analyze the decay channels $Φ\rightarrow gg$, $Φ\rightarrowγγ$, $Φ\rightarrow Zγ$, and $Φ\rightarrow \bar{t}t,\;…
The LHC is making strides in the exploration of the properties of the newly discoverd Higgs boson, $h$. In Refs.~\cite{vonBuddenbrock:2015ema,Kumar:2016vut,vonBuddenbrock:2016rmr} the compatibility of the proton-proton data reported in the Run I period with the presence of a heavy scalar, $H$, with a mass around 270\,GeV and its implications were explored. This boson would decay predominantly to $H\rightarrow Sh$, where $S$, is a lighter scalar boson. The production cross-section of $pp\rightarrow H(\rightarrow Sh) + X$ is considerable and it would significantly affect the inclusive rate of $h…
In the Higgsless models, there are extra gauge bosons which keep the perturbative unitarity of a longitudinally polarized gauge boson. The three-site Higgsless model is a minimal Higgsless model and contains three extra gauge bosons, $W^{\prime \pm}$ and Z'. In this paper, we report the discovery potential of the Z' gauge boson via Drell-Yan production with Z'(mass=380, 500, 600 GeV) $\rightarrow WW \rightarrow \ellνqq$ ($\ell=e$, $μ$) at the LHC ($\sqrt{s}$=14 TeV).
In this work we study the constraints on the anomalous $tqγ$ ($q=u$, $c$) couplings by photon-produced leading single top production and single top jet associated production through the main reaction $pp\rightarrow pγp\rightarrow pt\rightarrow pW(\rightarrow\ell ν_\ell) b+X$ and $pp\rightarrow pγp\rightarrow ptj\rightarrow pW(\rightarrow\ell ν_\ell) bj+X$ assuming a typical LHC multipurpose forward detectors in a model independent effective lagrangian approach. Our results show that: for the typical detector acceptance $0.0015<ξ_1<0.5$, $0.1<ξ_2<0.5$ and $0.0015<ξ_3<0.15$ with a luminosity of …
The associated production of a Higgs boson and a top-quark pair, $t{\bar t} H$, in proton-proton collisions is addressed in this paper for a center of mass energy of 13TeV at the LHC. Dileptonic final states of $t{\bar t}H$ events with two oppositely charged leptons and four jets from the decays $t\rightarrow bW^+ \rightarrow b \ell^+ν_\ell$, $\bar{t}\rightarrow \bar{b}W^- \rightarrow \bar{b} \ell^-\barν_\ell$ and $h\rightarrow b\bar{b}$, are used. Signal events, generated with MadGraph5_aMC@NLO, are fully reconstructed by applying a kinematic fit. New angular distributions of the decay produc…
A feasibility study for an experimental analysis searching for $t\bar{t}H(H\rightarrow b\bar{b})$ production at the LHC and its high luminosity phase is presented in this note. Unlike search strategies currently being used in experimental collaborations, the present analysis exploits jet substructure techniques and focuses on the reconstruction of boosted Higgs bosons, to obtain sensitivity to the signal in a simple cut-based analysis. The $t\bar{t} +$ jets background may be constrained in the proposed analysis through a control region with very small signal contamination. Using this analysis …
A theory input is needed for the estimation of the largest background for the $H\rightarrow WW$ search at the LHC. This is the shape of the $m_{\ell\ell}$ spectrum from continuum $WW$ production. We find this to depend on how NLO matrix elements are merged with parton showers, and we compare the results from a number of different implementations. The results suggest that both the size of the background estimate and its uncertainty may have been underestimated. This conclusion is reinforced by a "Note Added", which comments on the LHC results released on November 14 2012.
We report on studies of next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to the process $pp\rightarrow e^+ν_eμ^+ν_μjj$ which is associated with vector-boson fusion (VBF) production of an intermediate $W^+W^+$ pair. The impact of s-channel diagrams and interference contributions in VBF kinematics is analyzed at leading order (LO) and found to be entirely negligible. The NLO corrections are around 5% of the LO cross section, and the scale dependence is reduced to about ~1%. We introduce a dynamic scale which improves the K factor in the high-energy tails of the distributions.
We study the discovery potential of down type iso-singlet quarks, $D$, predicted by the $E_6$ GUT model in the ${pp\rightarrow D\bar{D}\rightarrow ZZd\bar{d} \rightarrow \ell^+\ell^-\ell^+\ell^- d\bar{d}}$ channel at the HL-LHC and FCC-hh colliders. The analysis is performed using a high level analysis description language and its runtime interpreter. The study shows that, using solely this channel, HL-LHC can discover $D$ quarks up to a mass of 710 GeV whereas FCC-hh up to 2430 GeV with data collected in their complete run periods.
In the littlest Higgs model with T-parity (LHT), we study the $t$-channel single top production in association with a Higgs boson at 8 and 14 TeV LHC. We find that the cross section can be enhanced obviously in this model compared to the Standard Model. By performing a simple parton-level simulation through $pp\rightarrow t(\rightarrow \ell^{+}νb)h(\rightarrow b\bar{b})j$ at 14 TeV LHC, we find that the observability of the signal is promising in the favorable parameter space.
We describe an effective theory of interaction between pairs of dark matter particles and pairs of photons. Such an interaction could accomodate $χ\barχ\rightarrowγγ$ processes which might be the cause of the observed feature in the FermiLAT spectrum, as well as $γ^*/Z\rightarrow γχ\barχ$ processes, which would predict excesses at the LHC in the $γ+\missET$ final-state. We reinterpret an ATLAS $γ+\missET$ analysis and the observed Fermi feature in the parameter space of our new effective theory to assess their consistency.
We explore the sensitivity of the Higgs decay to four leptons, the so-called golden channel, to higher dimensional loop-induced couplings of the Higgs boson to $ZZ$, $Zγ$, and $γγ$, allowing for general CP mixtures. The larger standard model tree level coupling $hZ^μZ_μ$ is the dominant "background" for the loop induced couplings. However this large background interferes with the smaller loop induced couplings, enhancing the sensitivity. We perform a maximum likelihood analysis based on analytic expressions of the fully differential decay width for $h\to 4\ell$ ($4\ell \equiv 2e2μ, 4e, 4μ$) in…
Most searches for top partners, $T$, are concerned with top partner pair production. However, as these bounds become increasingly stringent, the LHC energy will saturate and single top partner production will become more important. In this paper we study the novel signature of the top partner produced in association with the SM top, $pp\rightarrow T\overline{t}+t\overline{T}$, in a model where the Standard Model (SM) is extended by a vector-like $SU(2)_L$ singlet fermion top partner and a real, SM gauge singlet scalar, $S$. In this model, $pp\rightarrow T\overline{t}+t\overline{T}$ production …
