Experimental data of charged current inclusive neutrino cross sections on argon as a function of different variables have recently appeared. We have compared them to our theoretical approach. Overall we find an agreement in spite of a tendency of underestimation in some specific regions. A new aspect is the availability of data in terms of the energy transfer to the nucleus, which allows a better separation of the different reaction mechanisms. We explain the deterioration of agreement in specific kinematical conditions by the absence in our model of two-pion production and other inelastic channels, more important for MicroBooNE than for T2K.
Flux-integrated semi-exclusive differential and integral cross sections for quasi-elastic neutrino charged-current scattering on argon are analyzed. We calculate these cross sections using the relativistic distorted-wave impulse approximation and compare with recent MicroBooNE data. We found that the measured cross sections can be described well within the experimental uncertainties with value of the nucleon axial mass $1 < M_A < 1.2$ GeV. The contribution of the exclusive channel $\boldmath{(ν_μ, μp)}$ to the flux-integrated inclusive cross sections is about 50\%.

We present dark tridents, a new channel for exploring dark sectors in short-baseline neutrino experiments. Dark tridents are clean, distinct events where, like neutrino tridents, the scattering of a very weakly coupled particle leads to the production of a lepton--antilepton pair. Dark trident production occurs in models where long-lived dark-sector particles are produced along with the neutrinos in a beam-dump environment and interact with neutrino detectors downstream, producing an on-shell boson which decays into a pair of charged leptons. We focus on a simple model where the dark matter pa…
We report on the first measurement of flux-integrated single differential cross sections for charged-current (CC) muon neutrino ($ν_μ$) scattering on argon with a muon and a proton in the final state, $^{40}$Ar($ν_μ$,$μ$p)X. The measurement was carried out using the Booster Neutrino Beam at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and the MicroBooNE liquid argon time projection chamber detector with an exposure of 4.59 $\times$ 10$^{19}$ protons on target. Events are selected to enhance the contribution of CC quasielastic (CCQE) interactions. The data are reported in terms of a total cross sectio…
The largest uncertainties in estimating neutrino-nucleus interaction cross sections lie in the incomplete understanding of nuclear effects. A powerful tool to study nuclear effects is Transverse Kinematic Imbalance. This paper presents the first detailed comparison of the predictions of multiple event generators for distributions associated with Transverse Kinematic Imbalance for neutrino interactions on argon. Predictions for muon neutrinos interacting with an argon target are obtained using four standard neutrino event generation tools (GENIE, NuWro, GiBUU and NEUT). Example opportunities fo…
Over the last two decades, several experiments have reported anomalous results that could be hinting at the exciting possibility of sterile neutrino states in the $eV^{2}$ mass scale. Liquid Argon Time Projection Chambers (LArTPCs) are a particularly promising technology to explore this physics due to their fine-grained tracking and exceptional calorimetric capabilities. The MicroBooNE experiment, a 170 ton LArTPC scheduled to start taking data very soon with Fermilab's Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB), will combine LArTPC development with the main physics goal of understanding the low-energy elect…
We present an analysis of MicroBooNE data with a signature of one muon, no pions, and at least one proton above a momentum threshold of 300 MeV/c (CC0$π$Np). This is the first differential cross section measurement of this topology in neutrino-argon interactions. We achieve a significantly lower proton momentum threshold than previous carbon and scintillator-based experiments. Using data collected from a total of approximately $1.6 \times 10^{20}$ protons-on-target, we measure the muon neutrino cross section for the CC0$π$Np interaction channel in argon at MicroBooNE in the Booster Neutrino Be…
First application of a liquid argon time projection chamber for the search for intranuclear neutron-antineutron transitions and annihilation in $^{40}$Ar using the MicroBooNE detector
We report the first electron neutrino cross section measurements on argon, based on data collected by the ArgoNeuT experiment running in the GeV-scale NuMI beamline at Fermilab. A flux-averaged $ν_e + \overlineν_e$ total and a lepton angle differential cross section are extracted using 13 $ν_e$ and $\overlineν_e$ events identified with fully-automated selection and reconstruction. We employ electromagnetic-induced shower characterization and analysis tools developed to identify $ν_e/\overlineν_e$-like events among complex interaction topologies present in ArgoNeuT data ($\langle E_{\barν_e} \r…

Semi-inclusive neutrino-nucleus scattering, corresponding to the simultaneous detection of a lepton and one or more hadrons in the final state, is shown to be much more sensitive to nuclear effects than the inclusive process. The theoretical description of the semi-inclusive process is illustrated and some comparisons of relativistic plane wave impulse approximation (RPWIA) predictions with recent MicroBooNE, T2K and MINERvA data on argon and carbon are shown. The merit of new variables constructed to enhance particular nuclear effects is also illustrated and future developments going beyond t…

Thorough modeling of the physics involved in liquid argon calorimetry is essential for accurately predicting the performance of DUNE and optimizing its design and analysis pipeline. At the fundamental level, it is essential to quantify the detector response to individual hadrons---protons, charged pions, and neutrons---at different injection energies. We report such a simulation, analyzed under different assumptions about event reconstruction, such as particle identification and neutron detection. The role of event containment is also quantified. The results of this simulation can help inform …
