We present a survey of the central region of the nearest starburst galaxy, IC 10, using the W. M. Keck Observatory Keck Cosmic Web Imager (KCWI) at high spectral and spatial resolution. We map the central starburst of IC 10 to sample the kinematic and ionization properties of the individual star-forming regions. Using the low spectral resolution mode of KCWI we map the oxygen abundance and with the high spectral resolution mode we identify 46 individual H II regions. These H II regions have an average radius of 4.0 pc, star formation rate $\sim1.3\times10^{-4}$ M$_\odot$ yr$^{-1}$, and velocity dispersion $\sim$16 km s$^{-1}$. None of the H II regions appear to be virialized ($\rm α_{vir}>>1$), and, on average, they show evidence of ongoing expansion. IC 10's H II regions are offset from the star forming region size-luminosity scaling relationships, as well as Larson's Law that relates size and velocity dispersion. We investigate the balance of inward and outward pressure, $\rm P_{in}$ and $\rm P_{out}$, finding $\rm P_{out}>P_{in}$ in 89% of H II regions, indicating feedback driven expansion even in these low mass H II regions. We find warm gas pressure ($\rm P_{gas}$) provides the dominant contribution to the outward pressure ($\rm P_{out}$). This counteracts the inward pressure which is dominated by turbulence in the surrounding gas rather than self-gravity. Five H II regions show evidence of outflows which are most likely supported by either stellar winds (2 regions) or champagne flows (3 regions). These observations provide new insights into the state of the star-forming regions in IC 10 and negative feedback from low mass clusters.
Using computer simulations, we explored gaseous infall as a possible explanation for the starburst phase in Blue Compact Dwarf galaxies. We simulate a cloud impact by merging a spherical gas cloud into an isolated dwarf galaxy. We investigated which conditions were favourable for triggering a burst and found that the orbit and the mass of the gas cloud play an important role. We discuss the metallicity, the kinematical properties, the internal dynamics and the gas, stellar and dark matter distribution of the simulations during a starburst. We find that these are in good agreement with observat…
Recent studies have shown that starburst dwarf galaxies have steeply rising rotation curves in their inner parts, pointing to a close link between the intense star formation and a centrally concentrated mass distribution (baryons and dark matter). More quiescent dwarf irregulars typically have slowly rising rotation curves, although some "compact" irregulars with steep, inner rotation curves exist. We analyze archival Hubble Space Telescope images of two nearby "compact" irregular galaxies (NGC 4190 and NGC 5204), which were selected solely on the basis of their dynamical properties and their …
Winds are predicted to be ubiquitous in low-mass, actively star-forming galaxies. Observationally, winds have been detected in relatively few local dwarf galaxies, with even fewer constraints placed on their timescales. Here, we compare galactic outflows traced by diffuse, soft X-ray emission from Chandra Space Telescope archival observations to the star formation histories derived from Hubble Space Telescope imaging of the resolved stellar populations in six starburst dwarfs. We constrain the longevity of a wind to have an upper limit of 25 Myr based on galaxies whose starburst activity has a…
Post-starburst galaxies host a population of early-type stars (A or F), but simultaneously lack indicators of ongoing star formation such as OII emission. Two distinct stellar populations have been identified in these systems: a young post-starburst population superimposed on an older host population. We present a study of nine post-starburst galaxies with the following objectives: 1) to investigate if and how kinematical differences between the young and old populations of stars can be measured; and 2) to gain insight into the formation mechanism of the young population in these systems. We f…
Understanding star formation in resolved low mass systems requires the integration of information obtained from observations at different wavelengths. We have combined new and archival multi-wavelength observations on a set of 20 nearby starburst and post-starburst dwarf galaxies to create a data archive of calibrated, homogeneously reduced images. Named the panchromatic "STARBurst IRregular Dwarf Survey" (STARBIRDS) archive, the data are publicly accessible through the Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes (MAST). This first release of the archive includes images from the Galaxy Evolution Exp…
We present and analyse the photometric properties of a nearly complete sample of blue compact dwarf (BCD) and irregular galaxies in the Virgo cluster from multi-band SDSS images. Our study intends to shed light on the ongoing debate of whether a structural evolution from present-day star-forming dwarf galaxies in a cluster environment into ordinary early-type dwarf galaxies is possible based on the structural properties. For this purpose, we decompose the surface brightness profiles of the BCDs into the luminosity contribution of the starburst component and that of their underlying low surface…
The extent to which star formation varies in galaxies with low masses, low metallicities, and high star formation rate surface densities is not well-constrained. To gain insight into star formation under these physical conditions, this paper estimates the ionizing photon fluxes, masses, and ages for young massive clusters in the central region of II Zw 40 -- the prototypical low-metallicity dwarf starburst galaxy -- from radio continuum and optical observations. Discrete, cluster-sized sources only account for half the total radio continuum emission; the remainder is diffuse. The young (<5 Myr…
The duration of a starburst is a fundamental parameter affecting the evolution of galaxies yet, to date, observational constraints on the durations of starbursts are not well established. Here we study the recent star formation histories (SFHs) of three nearby dwarf galaxies to rigorously quantify the duration of their starburst events using a uniform and consistent approach. We find that the bursts range from ~200 - ~400 Myr in duration resolving the tension between the shorter timescales often derived observationally with the longer timescales derived from dynamical arguments. If these three…
It has been claimed in the recent literature that a non-trivial relation between the mass of the most-massive star, mmax, in a star cluster and its embedded star cluster mass (the mmax-Mecl relation) is falsified by observations of the most-massive stars and the Halpha luminosity of young star clusters in the starburst dwarf galaxy NGC 4214. Here it is shown by comparing the NGC 4214 results with observations from the Milky Way that NGC 4214 agrees very well with the predictions of the the mmax-Mecl relation and the integrated galactic stellar initial mass function (IGIMF) theory and that this…
We identify and characterize compact dwarf starburst (CDS) galaxies in the RESOLVE survey, a volume-limited census of galaxies in the local universe, to probe whether this population contains any residual ``blue nuggets,'' a class of intensely star-forming compact galaxies first identified at high redshift $z$. Our 50 low-$z$ CDS galaxies are defined by dwarf masses (stellar mass $M_* < 10^{9.5}$ M$_{\odot}$), compact bulged-disk or spheroid-dominated morphologies (using a quantitative criterion, $μ_Δ> 8.6$), and specific star formation rates above the defining threshold for high-$z$ blue nugg…
Interactions between pairs of isolated dwarf galaxies provide a critical window into low-mass hierarchical, gas-dominated galaxy assembly and the buildup of stellar mass in low-metallicity systems. We present the first VLT/MUSE optical IFU observations of the interacting dwarf pair dm1647+21, selected from the TiNy Titans survey. The H$α$ emission is widespread and corresponds to a total unobscured star formation rate (SFR) of 0.44 M$_{\odot}$ yr$^{-1}$, 2.7 times higher than the SFR inferred from SDSS data. The implied specific SFR (sSFR) for the system is elevated by more than an order of ma…
A population of so-called "blueberry" starbursting dwarf galaxies with extremely blue colors, low-metallicities, and enormous ionization ratios, has recently been found by Yang et al. (2017). Yet we still do not know their detailed properties, such as morphologies, AGN occupations, massive star contents, infrared emission, dust properties, etc. As a pilot study of the blueberries, we investigate the spectroscopic and photometric properties of two blueberry candidates, RGG B and RGG 5, for which Hubble Space Telescope high-resolution images are available. We find that RGG B and RGG 5 perhaps ar…
The physical mechanisms for starburst or quenching in less massive ($M_* < 10^{10} M_{\odot}$) galaxies are unclear. The merger is one of the inescapable processes referred to as both starburst and quenching in massive galaxies. However, the effects of the merger on star formation in dwarf galaxies and their evolution results are still uncertain. We aim to explore how to trigger and quench star formation in dwarf galaxies by studying the metal-poor gas-rich dwarf mergers based on the multi-band observations at a spatial resolution of $\sim$ 460 pc. We use the archival data of ALMA (band 3, 8) …
We present a photometric analysis of star and star cluster (SC) formation in a high-resolution simulation of a dwarf galaxy starburst that allows the formation of individual stars to be followed. Previous work demonstrated that the properties of the SCs formed in the simulation are in good agreement with observations. In this paper, we create mock spectral energy distributions and broad-band photometric images using the radiative transfer code SKIRT 9. We test several observational star formation rate (SFR) tracers and find that $24$ $μ$m, total infrared and H$α$ trace the underlying SFR durin…
Searching for active galactic nuclei (AGN) in dwarf galaxies is important for our understanding of the seed black holes that formed in the early Universe. Here, we test infrared selection methods for AGN activity at low galaxy masses. Our parent sample consists of ~18,000 nearby dwarf galaxies (M*< 3 x 10^9 Msun, $z<0.055$) in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey with significant detections in the first three bands of the AllWISE data release from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). First, we demonstrate that the majority of optically-selected AGNs in dwarf galaxies are not selected as AGN…
With the operation of LOFAR, a great opportunity exists to shed light on a problemof some cosmological significance. Diffuse radio synchrotron emission not associated to any obvious discrete sources as well as Faraday rotation in clusters of galaxies both indicate that the intergalactic or intracluster medium (IGM, ICM) is pervaded by a weak magnetic field, along with a population of relativistic particles. Both, particles and fields must have been injected into the IGM either by Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) or by normal starforming galaxies. Excellent candidates for the latter are starburst d…
Strong bursts of star formation in galaxies may be triggered either by internal or external mechanisms. We study the distribution and kinematics of the HI gas in the outer regions of 18 nearby starburst dwarf galaxies, that have accurate star-formation histories from HST observations of resolved stellar populations. We find that starburst dwarfs show a variety of HI morphologies, ranging from heavily disturbed HI distributions with major asymmetries, long filaments, and/or HI-stellar offsets, to lopsided HI distributions with minor asymmetries. We quantify the outer HI asymmetry for both our s…
Using deep 21-cm HI data from the Green Bank Telescope we have detected an ~18.3 kpc-long gaseous extension associated with the starbursting dwarf galaxy IC 10. The newly-found feature stretches 1.3 deg to the northwest and has a large radial velocity gradient reaching to ~65 km/s lower than the IC 10 systemic velocity. A region of higher column density at the end of the extension that possesses a coherent velocity gradient (~10 km/s across ~26 arcmin) transverse to the extension suggests rotation and may be a satellite galaxy of IC 10. The HI mass of IC 10 is 9.5x10^7 (d/805 kpc)^2 Msun and t…
We present high-spatial-resolution ($\sim 0\farcs2$, or $\sim$3\,pc) CO(2--1) observations of the nearest young starburst dwarf galaxy, NGC\,5253, taken with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array. We have identified 118 molecular clouds with average values of 4.3\,pc in radius and 2.2\,\kms\, in velocity dispersion, which comprise the molecular cloud complexes observed previously with $\sim$100\,pc resolution. We derive for the first time in this galaxy the $I{\rm (CO)}$--$N$(H$_2$) conversion factor, $X$ = $4.1^{+5.9}_{-2.4}\times10^{20}$\,cm$^{-2}$(K\,\kms)$^{-1}$, based on the vi…
We use Hubble Space Telescope imaging to show that the nearby dwarf starburst galaxy NGC 4449 has an unusual abundance of luminous red star clusters. Joint constraints from integrated photometry, low-resolution spectroscopy, dynamical mass-to-light ratios, and resolved color-magnitude diagrams provide evidence that some of these clusters are old globular clusters. Spectroscopic data for two massive clusters suggest intermediate metallicities ([Fe/H] ~ -1) and subsolar Mg enhancement ([Mg/Fe] ~ -0.1 to -0.2). One of these clusters may be the nucleus of a tidally disrupting dwarf galaxy; the oth…
We performed deep spectropolarimetric observations of a prototypical starburst galaxy M82 with the Subaru Telescope in order to study the kinematics of the dust outflow. We obtained optical polarized emission-line spectra up to $\sim$4~kpc away from the nucleus of the galaxy along three position angles within the conical outflowing wind (superwind). The H$α$ emission line in the superwind is strongly polarized and the polarization pattern shows dust scattering of central light sources, being consistent with the previous works. The intensity weighted polarization degree of the H$α$ line reaches…
We study a sample of $\sim$50,000 dwarf starburst and late-type galaxies drawn from the COSMOS survey with the aim of investigating the presence of nuclear accreting black holes (BHs) as those seed BHs from which supermassive BHs could grow in the early Universe. We divide the sample into five complete redshift bins up to $z=1.5$ and perform an X-ray stacking analysis using the \textit{Chandra} COSMOS-Legacy survey data. After removing the contribution from X-ray binaries and hot gas to the stacked X-ray emission, we still find an X-ray excess in the five redshift bins that can be explained by…
We present results from models of galactic winds driven by energy injected from nuclear (at the galactic center) and non-nuclear starbursts. The total energy of the starburst is provided by very massive young stellar clusters, which can push the galactic interstellar medium and produce an important outflow. Such outflow can be a well, or partially mixed wind, or a highly metallic wind. We have performed adiabatic 3D N-Body/Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics simulations of galactic winds using the GADGET-2 code. The numerical models cover a wide range of parameters, varying the galaxy concentration i…
Nuclei of early-type dwarf galaxies (dEs) are usually younger than the galaxy main body, and such discrepancy in age has been a puzzle. To explore the origin of young nuclei in dEs, we study a sample of dEs having compact star-forming blobs that are visually similar to dEs' nuclei but by far bluer. We find that (1) the compact star-forming blobs have a typical stellar mass of one percent of the host galaxy stellar mass; (2) some of the blobs are positioned slightly off from the center of the galaxies; (3) the H$α$ equivalent width measured from the publicly available Sloan Digital Sky Survey f…
We investigate the dynamics of starbursting dwarf galaxies, using both new and archival HI observations. We consider 18 nearby galaxies that have been resolved into single stars by HST observations, providing their star formation history and total stellar mass. We find that 9 objects have a regularly-rotating HI disk, 7 have a kinematically disturbed HI disk, and 2 show unsettled HI distributions. Two galaxies (NGC 5253 and UGC 6456) show a velocity gradient along the minor axis of the HI disk, that we interpret as strong radial motions. For galaxies with a regularly rotating disk we derive ro…
We aim to explore whether strong magnetic fields can be effectively generated in low-mass dwarf galaxies and, if so, whether such fields can be affected by galactic outflows and spread out into the intergalactic medium (IGM). We performed a radio continuum polarimetry study of IC10, the nearest starbursting dwarf galaxy, using a combination of multifrequency interferometric (VLA) and single-dish (Effelsberg) observations. VLA observations at 1.43 GHz reveal an extensive and almost spherical radio halo of IC10 in total intensity, extending twice more than the infrared-emitting galactic disk. Th…
Models of galaxy formation predict that gas accretion from the cosmic web is a primary driver of star formation over cosmic history. Except in very dense environments where galaxy mergers are also important, model galaxies feed from cold streams of gas from the web that penetrate their dark matter haloes. Although these predictions are unambiguous, the observational support has been indirect so far. Here we report spectroscopic evidence for this process in extremely metal-poor galaxies (XMPs) of the local Universe, taking the form of localized starbursts associated with gas having low metallic…
In this review I summarise recent advances in our understanding of the importance of starburst events to the evolutionary histories of nearby galaxies. Ongoing bursts are easily diagnosed in emission-line surveys, but assessing the timing and intensity of fossil bursts requires more effort, usually demanding color-magnitude diagrams or spectroscopy of individual stars. For ages older than ~1 Gyr, this type of observation is currently limited to the Local Group and its immediate surroundings. However, if the Local Volume is representative of the Universe as a whole, then studies of the age and …

We investigate the impact of time-resolved `gradual' stellar feedback processes in high redshift dwarf spheroidal galaxies. Here `gradual' feedback refers to individual stellar feedback events which deposit energy over a period of time. We conduct high resolution hydrodynamical simulations of dwarf spheroidal galaxies with halo masses of 10$^7$ M$_{\odot}$ - 10$^8$ M$_{\odot}$, based on z = 6 progenitors of the Milky Way's dwarf spheroidal galaxies. We also include a novel feedback prescription for individual massive stars, which includes stellar winds and a HMXB (High Mass X-ray Binary) phase…
We present ALMA CO(3-2) observations at 0.3 arcsec resolution of He2-10, a starburst dwarf galaxy and possible high-z galaxy analogue. The warm dense gas traced by CO(3--2) is found in clumpy filaments that are kinematically and spatially distinct. The filaments have no preferred orientation or direction; this may indicate that the galaxy is not evolving into a disk galaxy. Filaments appear to be feeding the active starburst; the velocity field in one filament suggests acceleration onto an embedded star cluster. The relative strengths of CO(3-2) and radio continuum vary strongly on decaparsec …
We introduce TiNy Titans (TNT), the first systematic study of star formation and the subsequent processing of the interstellar medium in interacting dwarf galaxies. Here we present the first results from a multiwavelength observational program based on a sample of 104 dwarf galaxy pairs selected from a range of environments within the SDSS and caught in various stages of interaction. The TNT dwarf pairs span mass ratios of M1/M2 <10, projected separations <50 kpc, and pair member masses of 7< log(M_*/Msun) <9.7. The dwarf-dwarf merger sequence, as defined by TNT, demonstrates conclusively and …
We analyze the three-dimensional shapes and kinematics of the young star cluster population forming in a high-resolution GRIFFIN project simulation of a metal-poor dwarf galaxy starburst. The star clusters, which follow a power-law mass distribution, form from the cold ISM phase with an IMF sampled with individual stars down to 4 solar masses at sub-parsec spatial resolution. Massive stars and their important feedback mechanisms are modelled in detail. The simulated clusters follow a surprisingly tight relation between the specific angular momentum and mass with indications of two sub-populati…
We present new ${ }^{12}$CO(J=1-0) observations of Henize 2-10, a blue compact dwarf galaxy about 8.7 Mpc away, taken with the Atacama Large Millimeter Array. These are the highest spatial and spectral resolution observations, to date, of the molecular gas in this starburst galaxy. We measure a molecular mass of $1.2\times10^8 M_\odot$ in Henize 2-10, and most of the molecular gas is contained within a region having a size of about 310 pc. We use the CPROPS algorithm to identify 119 resolved giant molecular clouds distributed throughout the galaxy, and the molecular gas contained within these …
We have used optical Integral Field Spectroscopy in order to map the star formation history of the inner kiloparsec of the Post-Starburst Quasar (PSQ) J0330--0532 and to map its gas and stellar kinematics as well as the gas excitation. PSQs are hypothesized to represent a stage in the evolution of galaxies in which the star formation has been recently quenched due to the feedback of the nuclear activity, as suggested by the presence of the post-starburst population at the nucleus. We have found that the old stellar population (age $\ge$ 2.5 Gyr) dominates the flux at 5100 Å in the inner 0.26 k…
We present [CII] synthetic observations of smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) simulations of a dwarf galaxy merger. The merging process varies the star-formation rate by more than three orders of magnitude. Several star clusters are formed, the feedback of which disperses and unbinds the dense gas through expanding HII regions and supernova (SN) explosions. For galaxies with properties similar to the modelled ones, we find that the [CII] emission remains optically thin throughout the merging process. We identify the Warm Neutral Medium ($3<\log T_{\rm gas}<4$ with $χ_{\rm HI}>2χ_{\rm H2}$) …
Dense molecular gas and star formation are correlated in galaxies. The effect of low metallicity on this relationship is crucial for interpreting observations of high redshift galaxies, which have lower metallicities than galaxies today. However, it remains relatively unexplored because dense molecular gas tracers like HCN and HCO+ are faint in low metallicity systems. We present Green Bank Telescope observations of HCN(1-0) and HCO+(1-0) on giant molecular cloud (34pc) scales in the nearby low metallicity ($12+\log({\rm O/H})=8.2$) starburst IC 10 and compare them to those in other galaxies. …
We present data from Integral Field Spectroscopy for 3 supercompact UV-Luminous Galaxies (ScUVLGs). As nearby (z~0.2), compact (R_50~1-2 kpc), bright Paschen-alpha sources, with unusually high star formation rates (SFR=3-100 M_sun/yr), ScUVLGs are an ideal population for studying detailed kinematics and dynamics in actively star-forming galaxies. In addition, ScUVLGs appear to be excellent analogs to high redshift Lyman Break Galaxies (LBGs) and our results may offer additional insight into the dynamics of LBGs. Previous work by our team has shown that the morphologies of these galaxies exhibi…
Haro 2 , a nearby dwarf starburst dwarf galaxy with strong Ly alpha emission, hosts a starburst that has created outflows and filaments. The clear evidence for galactic outflow makes it an ideal candidate for studying the effects of feedback on molecular gas in a dwarf galaxy. We observed CO(2-1) in Haro 2 at the Submillimeter Array in the compact and extended configurations, and have mapped the molecular emission with velocity resolution 4.1 km/s and spatial resolution 2.0x1.6". With this significant increase of resolution over previous measurements we see that the molecular gas comprises two…
We have investigated the relationship between the kinematics and mass of young (<3x10^8 years) white dwarfs using proper motions. Our sample is taken from the colour selected catalogues of SDSS (Eisenstein et al. 2006) and the Palomar-Green Survey (Liebert, Bergeron & Holberg 2005), both of which have spectroscopic temperature and gravity determinations. We find that the dispersion decreases with increasing white dwarf mass. This can be explained as a result of less scattering by objects in the Galactic disk during the shorter lifetime of their more massive progenitors. A direct result of this…
On the basis of the PPMXL catalogue (Röser, Demleitner & Schilbach, 2010) we searched for white dwarfs that are also member candidates of the Hyades in a region up to 40 pc from the cluster centre. We use the proper motions from PPMXL in the convergent point method to determine probable kinematic members. We cross-match the kinematic candidates with catalogues containing white dwarfs and, finally, check the kinematic with the photometric distances for consistency. We find the 10 classical white dwarfs in the Hyades and determine their individual kinematic distances. Additionally, we identified…
Gas-rich galaxies in dense environments such as galaxy clusters and massive groups are affected by a number of possible types of interactions with the cluster environment, which make their evolution radically different than that of field galaxies. The dIrr galaxy NGC 1427A, presently infalling towards the core of the Fornax galaxy cluster, offers a unique opportunity to study those processes in a level of detail not possible to achieve for galaxies at higher redshifts. Using HST/ACS and auxiliary VLT/FORS ground-based observations, we study the properties of the most recent episodes of star fo…
We describe a population of young star clusters (SCs) formed in a hydrodynamical simulation of a gas-rich dwarf galaxy merger resolved with individual massive stars at sub-parsec spatial resolution. The simulation is part of the GRIFFIN (Galaxy Realizations Including Feedback From INdividual massive stars) project. The star formation environment during the simulation spans seven orders of magnitude in gas surface density and thermal pressure, and the global star formation rate surface density ($Σ_\mathrm{SFR}$) varies by more than three orders of magnitude during the simulation. Young SCs more…
The kinematics of galaxies provide valuable insights in their physics and assembly history. Kinematics are governed not only by the gravitational potential, but also by merger events and stellar feedback processes such as stellar winds and supernova explosions. Aims. We aim at identifying what governs the kinematics in a sample of SDSS selected nearby starburst galaxies, by obtaining spatially resolved measurements of the gas and stellar kinematics. We obtain near-infrared integral field K-band spectroscopy with VLT/SINFONI of 15 compact starburst galaxies. We derive the integrated as well as …
Integrating our knowledge of star formation traced by observations at different wavelengths is essential for correctly interpreting and comparing star formation activity in a variety of systems and environments. This study compares extinction corrected integrated ultraviolet (UV) emission from resolved galaxies with color-magnitude diagram (CMD) based star formation rates (SFRs) derived from resolved stellar populations and CMD fitting techniques in 19 nearby starburst and post-starburst dwarf galaxies. The datasets are from the panchromatic STARBurst IRregular Dwarf Survey (STARBIRDS) and inc…

This work focuses on the gas chemical composition of CGCG007-025. This compact dwarf is undergoing a galaxy wide star forming burst, whose spatial behaviour has been observed by VLT/MUSE. We present a new line measurement library to treat almost 7800 voxels. The direct method chemical analysis is limited to 484 voxels with good detection of the $[SIII]$6312$\mathring{\mathrm{A}}$ temperature diagnostic line. The recombination fluxes are corrected for stellar absorption via a population synthesis. Additionally, we discuss a new algorithm to fit photoionization models via neural networks. The 8 …
Star forming dwarf galaxies (SFDGs) have a high gas content and low metallicities, reminiscent of the basic entities in hierarchical galaxy formation scenarios. In the young universe they probably also played a major role in the cosmic reionization. Their abundant presence in the local volume and their youthful character make them ideal objects for detailed studies of the initial stellar mass function (IMF), fundamental star formation processes and its feedback to the interstellar medium. Occasionally we witness SFDGs involved in extreme starbursts, giving rise to strongly elevated production …
