Next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the $γ^{*} \longrightarrow Q\bar{Q}-Reggeon$ vertex are calculated, where $Q\bar{Q}$ denotes a heavy quark pair $c\bar c$ or $b\bar b$. The heavy quark mass effects on the photon impact factor are found to be significant, and hence may influence the results of high energy photon-photon scattering and heavy quark pair leptoproduction. In our NLO calculation, similar to the massless case, the ultraviolate(UV) divergences are fully renormalized in the standard procedure, while the infrared (IR) divergences are regulated by the parameter $ε_{IR}$ in dimensional regularization. For the process $γ^* + q \to Q\bar{Q} + q$, we calculate all NLO coefficients in terms of $ε_{IR}$, and find they are enhanced due to the heavy quark mass, as compared with the light quark case, and the enhancement factors increase rapidly as the quark mass increases. This might essentially indicate the quark mass effect, in spite of the absence of real corrections that are needed in a complete NLO calculation. Moreover, unlike the $γ^{*}$ to massless-quark-Reggeon vertex, the results in the present work may apply to the real photon case.
As a first step towards the computation of the NLO corrections to the photon impact factor in the $γ^*γ^* \to γ^* γ^*$ scattering process, we calculate the one loop corrections to the coupling of the reggeized gluon to the $γ^*\to q\bar{q}$ vertex. We list the results for the Feynman diagrams which contribute: all loop integrations are carried out, and the results are presented in the helicity basis of photon, quark, and antiquark.
High-mass diffractive production of protons on the deuteron target is studied in the next-to-leading order (NLO) of the perturbative QCD in the BFKL approach. The non-trivial part of the NLO contributions coming from the triple interactions of the exchanged reggeons is considered. Analytic formulas are presented and shown to be infrared free and so ready for practical calculation.
General expressions for the impact factors up to terms vanishing at the space-time dimension $D\rightarrow 4$ are presented. Their infrared behaviour is analysed and calculation of exact in $D\rightarrow 4$ asymptotics at small momenta of Reggeized gluons is discussed.
Starting from the multi-Regge effective action for high-energy scattering in QCD a $t$-channel approach can be developed which is similar to the approach by White based on general Regge arguments. The BFKL kernel of reggeized gluon interaction, contributions to the $2 \rightarrow 4 $ reggeized gluon vertex function and the one-loop correction to the BFKL kernel are considered. The conditions are discussed under which this approach can provide a simple estimante of the next-to-leading logarithmic corrections to the BFKL perturbative pomeron intercept.
The definition of the virtual photon impact factor involves the integration of the s-channel discontinuity of the photon-Reggeon scattering amplitude over the right cut. It permits to formulate a new approach for the calculation of the impact factor based on analytical properties of the amplitude in question. In the next-to-leading order it may give a possibility for considerable simplification of the calculation. We have shown that a part of the diagrams contributing to the impact factor can be treated without their real calculation.
We report on studies of next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to the process $pp\rightarrow e^+ν_eμ^+ν_μjj$ which is associated with vector-boson fusion (VBF) production of an intermediate $W^+W^+$ pair. The impact of s-channel diagrams and interference contributions in VBF kinematics is analyzed at leading order (LO) and found to be entirely negligible. The NLO corrections are around 5% of the LO cross section, and the scale dependence is reduced to about ~1%. We introduce a dynamic scale which improves the K factor in the high-energy tails of the distributions.
We present analytical results for higher order corrections to the decay spectra of inclusive semileptonic heavy hadron weak decays using the heavy quark expansion (HQE). We compute analytically the spectrum of the leptonic invariant mass for $B \rightarrow X_c \ell \barν$ up to and including terms of order $1/m_Q^3$ within the HQE at next-to-leading order (NLO) in $α_s$. The full dependence of the differential rate on the mass of the final-state quark is taken into account. We discuss the implications of our results for the precision determination of the CKM matrix element $|V_{cb}|$.
Compatibility of the Reggeized form of QCD multi-particle amplitudes with the s-channel unitarity requires fulfilment of an infinite number of the "bootstrap" relations. On the other hand, it turns out that fulfillment of all these relations ensures the Reggeized form of energy dependent radiative corrections order by order in perturbation theory. It is extremely nontrivial, that all these relations are fulfilled if the Reggeon vertices and trajectory satisfy several bootstrap conditions. The full set of these conditions in the next-to-leading order was derived in the last year and the ultimat…
We report on the status of the ongoing calculation of multiparticle contributions to the inclusive radiative $\bar{B} \rightarrow X_s γ$ decay at next-to leading order. This effort amounts to the evaluation of the four-particle process $b\rightarrow s \bar{q} q γ$ at the one-loop level, supplemented by the corresponding five-particle tree-level cuts $b\rightarrow s \bar{q} q γ+ g$ of the gluon bremsstrahlung. Knowledge of these pieces will formally complete the $\bar{B} \rightarrow X_s γ$ decay at the next-to-leading order. The different steps such as the generation of the amplitude, its renor…
The next-to-leading order QCD corrections for $χ_{bJ}$, the p-wave bottomonium, to $J/ψ$ pair decay processes are evaluated utilizing NRQCD factorization formalism. The scale dependence of $χ_{b2}\rightarrow J/ψJ/ψ$ process is depressed with NLO corrections, and hence the uncertainties in the leading order results are greatly reduced. The total branch ratios are found to be the order of $10^{-5}$ for all three $χ_{bJ}\rightarrow J/ψJ/ψ$ processes, indicating that they are observable in the LHC and super-B experiments.

We study the rare decay $Z_H \rightarrow H^0 γ$ at $\mathcal{O}(α_{\rm ew}^{3}α_s)$ accuracy including two-loop QCD corrections in the context of the littlest Higgs model (LHM) without $T$-parity. We revisit analytically and numerically the leading-order (LO) contributions of the one-loop diagrams induced by massive fermions, scalars and charged gauge bosons in the LHM, and further study the NLO QCD correction to this decay process. We perform the numerical calculation by taking the LHM input parameters $f=3,~4~\text{TeV}$ and $0.1< c <0.6$, and discuss the numerical results of the decay width…
A theory input is needed for the estimation of the largest background for the $H\rightarrow WW$ search at the LHC. This is the shape of the $m_{\ell\ell}$ spectrum from continuum $WW$ production. We find this to depend on how NLO matrix elements are merged with parton showers, and we compare the results from a number of different implementations. The results suggest that both the size of the background estimate and its uncertainty may have been underestimated. This conclusion is reinforced by a "Note Added", which comments on the LHC results released on November 14 2012.

In this paper we study the Single Top and W boson associated photoproduction via the main reaction $\rm pp\rightarrow pγp\rightarrow pW^{\pm}t+Y$ at the 14 TeV Large Hadron Collider (LHC) up to next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD level assuming a typical LHC multipurpose forward detector. We use the Five-Flavor-Number Schemes (5FNS) with massless bottom quark assumption in the whole calculation. Our results show that the QCD NLO corrections can reduce the scale uncertainty. The typical K-factors are in the range of 1.15 to 1.2 which lead to the QCD NLO corrections of 15$%$ to 20$%$ correspond to t…
The calculation of $t\bar{t}Z$ production including leptonic decays of both $Z$ boson and top quarks via a partially or fully off-shell calculation represents a definite step forward towards a more accurate description of events whose signatures originate from $t\bar{t}Z$ production. In this talk we review two studies that represent the state of the art of theoretical modeling of $t\bar{t}Z$ production by either performing the NLO QCD calculation of the fully decayed $pp\rightarrow e^+ν_eμ^-\barν_μb\bar{b}τ^+τ^-$ process (see Ref. [1]) or matching the NLO QCD calculation of $pp\rightarrow t\ba…
We study the impact of different theoretical descriptions of top quark pair production on top quark mass measurements in the di-lepton channel. To this aim, the full NLO corrections to $pp\rightarrow W^+W^-b\bar b\rightarrow (e^+ ν_e)\,(μ^- \barν_μ)\,b\bar b$ production are compared to calculations in the narrow width approximation, where the production of a top quark pair is calculated at NLO and combined with three different descriptions of the top quark decay: leading order, next-to-leading order and via a parton shower. The different theory predictions then enter the calibration of templat…
The $B_c(^1S_0)$ meson to S-wave Charmonia transition form factors are calculated in next-to-leading order(NLO) accuracy of Quantum Chromodynamics(QCD). Our results indicate that the higher order corrections to these form factors are remarkable, and hence are important to the phenomenological study of the corresponding processes. For the convenience of comparison and use, the relevant expressions in asymptotic form at the limit of $m_c\rightarrow0$ for the radiative corrections are presented.
We present for the first time the exact NLO QCD corrections to the light-quark part of the mixed QCD-EW contributions to Higgs production via gluon fusion at LHC13, with exact EW-boson mass dependence. The relevant two-loop real-emission matrix element is computed using a dynamic one-dimensional series expansion strategy whose stability and speed allows for a numerical phase-space integration using local IR subtraction counterterms. For $μ_R=μ_F=M_H$, we find: \begin{equation}σ^{(α_s^2α^2+α_s^3α^2)}_{g g\rightarrow H+X} = 1.467(2)^{\;+18.7\%}_{\;-14.6\%}\;(μ_R\;\text{var.})\;\pm 2\%\;(\text{PD…
We present a full off-shell NLO QCD calculation of $pp \rightarrow e^+ ν_e b μ^- \barν_μ\bar{b} b \bar{b} + X$. Results are obtained using the HELAC-NLO Monte Carlo framework. We discuss a comparison to previous results and to experimental measurements. We also investigate the contribution of the initial states involving $b$-quarks and we introduce two $b$-jet tagging schemes.
We discuss the next to the leading order (NLO) electroweak radiative corrections to the $e^- e^+ \rightarrow f^- f^+ (γ)$ cross section asymmetry, for polarized and unpolarized beam scenario. The left-right and forward-backward amplitudes, with and without radiative corrections, are evaluated and compared for various kinematics. The hard bremsstrahlung is included for arbitrary energy cuts. The radiative corrections are shown to be significant and having a non-trivial dependency on the kinematic conditions. The calculations are relevant for the ultra-precise low-energy experiment Belle~II plan…
We study a generic Higgs boson and a top quark associated production via model-independent flavor-changing neutral-current couplings at the LHC, including complete QCD next-to-leading order (NLO) corrections to the production and decay of the top quark and the Higgs boson. We find that QCD NLO corrections can increase the total production cross sections by about 48.9% and 57.9% for the $Htu$ and $Htc$ coupling induced processes at the LHC, respectively. After kinematic cuts are imposed on the decay products of the top quark and the Higgs boson, the QCD NLO corrections are reduced to 11% for th…
A new particle of mass around 125 GeV is known to have loop induced couplings to $gg$ and $γγ$. More specific to the Higgs interpretation are tree level couplings to $W$ and $Z$. A small but clean signal of the Higgs coupling to $W$ arises from associated production of a Higgs, with $H\rightarrowγγ$. We consider this signal in light of a large NLO enhancement of the irreducible background.
We compute the exclusive electroproduction, $γ^* p \rightarrow V p$, of heavy quarkonia $V$ to NLO in the collinear factorisation scheme, which has been formally proven for this process. The inclusion of an off-shell virtuality $Q^2$ carried by the photon extends the photoproduction phase space of the exclusive heavy quarkonia observable to electroproduction kinematics. This process is relevant for diffractive scattering at HERA and the upcoming EIC, as well as at the proposed LHeC and FCC.
We consider the decay of a polarized top quark into a stable $W^+$ boson and charmed-flavored (D) or bottom-flavored (B) hadrons, via $t(\uparrow)\rightarrow W^++D/B+X$. We study the angular distribution of the scaled-energy of B/D-hadrons at next-to-leading order (NLO) considering the contribution of bottom and gluon fragmentations into the heavy mesons B and D. To obtain the energy spectrum of B/D-hadrons we present our analytical expressions for the parton-level differential decay widths of $t(\uparrow)\rightarrow b+W^+(+g)$ at NLO. Comparison of our predictions with data at the LHC enable …
We calculate the next-to-leading order(NLO) quantum chromodynamics(QCD) corrections to the inclusive process of $Z_0 \rightarrow B^*_c+\bar{c}+b$ under the non-relativistic QCD(NRQCD) factorization scheme. Technical details about contributions from vector and axial-vector currents in dimensional regularization scheme are discussed. Numerical calculation shows that the NLO correction enhances the leading-order decay width by about 50%, and the dependence on renormalization scale $μ$ is reduced. The uncertainties induced by quark masses and the renormalization scale $μ$ are also analyzed.
Radiative corrections to QCD amplitudes in the quasi-multi-Regge kinematics are interesting in particular since the Reggeized form of these amplitudes is used in the derivation of the NLO BFKL. This form is a hypothesis which must be at least carefully checked, if not proved. We calculate the radiative corrections in the one-loop approximation using the s-channel unitarity. Compatibility of the Reggeized form of the amplitudes with the s-channel unitarity requires fulfillment of the set of nonlinear equations for the Reggeon vertices. We show that these equations are satisfied.
In this contribution we report on the latest theoretical predictions for $t\bar{t}b\bar{b}$. These results are obtained for the fully decayed final state $pp \rightarrow e^+ ν_e μ^- ν_μ b \bar{b} b \bar{b}$ at next-to-leading order accuracy in QCD. We present predictions with full off-shell effects and in the Narrow Width Approximation. Specifically, we report on the size of the NLO QCD corrections and the size of the full off-shell effects. Finally, we study the nature of the $b$-jets present in the final state.
The meson-baryon interaction in s-wave in the strangeness S=-1 sector has been studied, employing a chiral SU(3) Lagrangian up to next-to-leading order (NLO) and implementing unitarization in coupled channels. The parameters of the Lagrangian have been fitted to a large set of experimental data in different two-body channels, paying special attention to the $\bar{K} N \rightarrow K Ξ$ reaction, which is particularly sensitive to the NLO terms. With the aim of improving the model in the $KΞ$ production channels, effects of the high spin hyperon resonances $Σ(2030)$ and $Σ(2250)$ have been taken…
We present the first next-to-leading-order (NLO) perturbative QCD (pQCD) study of rapidity-differential cross sections of coherent exclusive photoproduction of $J/ψ$ mesons in heavy-ion ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs) at the LHC, $dσ/dy(\text{Pb} + \text{Pb} \rightarrow \text{Pb} + J/ψ+ \text{Pb})$. For this, we account for the photon-nucleon NLO cross sections at the forward limit, the $t$ dependence using a standard nuclear form factor, and the photon fluxes of the colliding nuclei. Approximating the generalized parton distributions with their forward-limit parton distribution functions (P…
The $γ+γ\rightarrow J/ψ+c+\bar{c}$ inclusive process is an extremely important subprocess in $J/ψ$ production via photon-photon scattering, like at LEP\uppercase\expandafter{\romannumeral2} or various types future electron-positron colliders. In this work we perform the next-to-leading(NLO) QCD corrections to this process in the framework of non-relativistic QCD(NRQCD) factorization formalism, the first NLO calculation for two projectiles to 3-body quarkonium inclusive production process. By setting the center-of-mass energy at LEP\uppercase\expandafter{\romannumeral2}, the $\sqrt{s}=197$ GeV,…
We present the first study of rapidity-differential cross sections of coherent exclusive $J/ψ$ photoproduction in heavy-ion ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs) at the LHC, $\text{d}σ(\text{Pb}+\text{Pb}\rightarrow \text{Pb}+J/ψ+\text{Pb})/\text{d}y$, to NLO in collinear factorisation. Taking the generalised parton distributions as their forward limit counterparts, the NLO contributions in the cross sections are quantified and we show that the real part of the amplitude and quark-PDF contributions must not be neglected. We further evaluate the uncertainties arising from the scale-choice at both L…
In this note we analyse the excess in the $W^+W^-$ inclusive cross section recently measured by the LHC experiments. We point out that in fact for the ATLAS fiducial cross sections there is no excess in the measurements compared to the NLO QCD predictions. We also argue that higher order effects to the fiducial cross section are small, and tend to cancel each other, hence the inclusion of NNLO and NNLL corrections will not modify this agreement significantly. We find that at 8 TeV a substantial part of the disagreement with the NLO prediction for the total cross section observed by ATLAS is du…
NLO QCD corrections to the process $pp \rightarrow e^+ν_e μ^- \barν_μ τ^+τ^- b \bar{b}+X$ are presented with the full off-shell effects included. The calculation includes all resonant and non-resonant Feynman diagrams, photon and $Z$-gauge boson contributions, as well as interference effects, all incorporated at the matrix element level. Furthermore all heavy intermediate particles are described via Breit-Wigner propagators. Theoretical uncertainties related to the scale variation and choice of PDF sets were investigated at the integrated and differential level. The modelling is studied by a d…
We investigate the process $pp \rightarrow HZγ+ X$ at the $\sqrt{s}=14~{\rm TeV}$ LHC up to the QCD next-to-leading order (NLO), and discuss the kinematic distributions of final products after on-shell Higgs and $Z$-boson decays by adopting the narrow width approximation. The dependence of the leading order (LO) and the QCD NLO corrected integrated cross sections on the factorization/renormalization scale is studied. Our results show that the LO integrated cross section and kinematic distributions are significantly enhanced by the NLO QCD corrections, and the NLO QCD $K$-factor strongly depend…
We compute the QCD corrections at next-to-leading order for the process $gg \rightarrow ZH$, including both the virtual two-loop terms and real-emission contributions. The two-loop box diagrams in the virtual corrections are approximated analytically over the complete phase space, combining the results of an expansion in the limit of small transverse momentum and an expansion in the regime of high energy. We obtain both inclusive and differential results for the cross section. We find that the NLO QCD corrections are of the same size as the LO contribution up to $ZH$ invariant masses close to …

We present a detailed study of the production and decay of the excited quark at the QCD next-to-leading order (NLO) level at the Large Hadron Collider, using the narrow width approximation and helicity amplitudes method. We find that the QCD NLO corrections can tighten the constraints on the model parameters and reduce the scale dependencies of the total cross sections. We discuss the signals of the excited quark production with decay mode $q^{\ast}\rightarrow qγ$ and $q^{\ast}\rightarrow qg$, and present several important kinematic distributions. Moreover, we give the upper limits of the exci…
We compare fixed order and parton shower matched predictions for the process ${pp\rightarrow \ell^+ν_{\ell} \ell^-\barν_{\ell} \ell^{\pm}ν_{\ell} b\bar{b}+X}$ at NLO in QCD, including the orders $\mathcal{O}(α_s^3α^6)$ and $\mathcal{O}(α_sα^8)$. The comparison is performed at the integrated and differential fiducial level at the LHC with $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV. In the absence of parton shower matching procedure that includes the full off-shell effects for this process at NLO in QCD, we propose a new prescription. It enables the inclusion of approximate full off-shell effects to currently available …
In this thesis we focus on the theoretical subtleties of the top-quark mass ($m_t$) determination, issue which persists in being highly controversial. In the first part of the thesis, we investigate the presence of linear renormalons in observables that can be employed to determine the top mass. We considered a simplified toy model to describe $W^{*} \rightarrow t \bar{b} \to Wb \bar{b}$. The computation is carried out in the limit of a large number of flavours ($n_f$), using a new method that allows to easily evaluate any infrared safe observable at order $α_s(α_s n_f)^n$ for any $n$. The sec…
We calculate the complete next-to-leading-order (NLO) QCD corrections (including SUSY QCD corrections) to the inclusive total cross sections of the associated production processes $pp\rightarrow A^{0}γ+X$ in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Our results show that the enhancement of the total cross sections from the NLO QCD corrections can reach $15%\sim20%$ for 200 GeV$<m_{A}<500$ GeV and $\tanβ=50$. The scale dependence of the total cross section is improved by the NLO corrections, which is less than 5%. We also show the Monte Carlo simu…
Within a class of models in which lepton flavor violation is induced dominantly by scalar particle exchanges, we estimate the $μ\to e$ conversion rate in several nuclei. We include next-to-leading order (NLO) terms in the one- and two-nucleon interactions in chiral effective theory, rectifying some incorrect results in the previous literature. We provide an uncertainty budget for the conversion rates and we find that NLO contributions affect the amplitudes at the level of $10\%$, which could be larger than the uncertainty on the leading order couplings, dominated by the strange and non-strange…
The pseudoscalar quarkonia exclusive decays to light mesons still poses a challenge to the theoretical understanding of quarkonium properties in decay. In this work, we evaluate the processes of pseudoscalar heavy quarkonium decays into vector meson pairs, especially the helicity suppressed processes of $η_b\rightarrow J/ψJ/ψ$ and $η_c\rightarrow VV$. In the frame of NRQCD, the branching fraction of $Br[η_b\rightarrow J/ψJ/ψ]$ are evaluated at the next-to-leading order of perturbative QCD; and within the light-cone distribution formalism, we calculate also the higher twist effects in these pro…
This paper presents the first calculations of the parity-violating polarization asymmetry and forward-backward asymmetry of the $e^- e^+ \rightarrow μ^+ μ^- (γ)$ process at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV with up to one-loop electroweak radiative corrections. The calculations are relevant for future precision electroweak measurements at the Belle~II experiment, which is now collecting data at the SuperKEKB $e^- e^+$ collider with a center-of-mass energy at the mass of the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. In this paper we take under full control the bremsstrahlung process at the conditions of Belle II/S…
The associated production of a Higgs boson and a top-quark pair, $t{\bar t} H$, in proton-proton collisions is addressed in this paper for a center of mass energy of 13TeV at the LHC. Dileptonic final states of $t{\bar t}H$ events with two oppositely charged leptons and four jets from the decays $t\rightarrow bW^+ \rightarrow b \ell^+ν_\ell$, $\bar{t}\rightarrow \bar{b}W^- \rightarrow \bar{b} \ell^-\barν_\ell$ and $h\rightarrow b\bar{b}$, are used. Signal events, generated with MadGraph5_aMC@NLO, are fully reconstructed by applying a kinematic fit. New angular distributions of the decay produc…
We compute $2\rightarrow2$ scattering in massive $ϕ^4$ theory on $\mathbb R^{1,m}\times T^n$ to NLO. We perform the calculations using "denominator regularization" instead of the usual dimensional regularization, which allows for asymmetric configurations of the $T^n$. We give a transparent derivation of and equation for the analytic continuation of the generalized Epstein zeta function. We show that the Optical Theorem is satisfied and generalize a conjecture by Hardy on square counting functions. We comment on the implications.
